有趣味性的英语学习软件推荐的英语作文My Favorite Fun English Learning Apps and Games!
Hello everyone! My name is Emily and I'm a 4th grader. I absolutely love learning English, but I'll be honest - sometimes the textbooks and worksheets can be a little boring. That's why I'm super excited to tell you all about my favorite English learning apps and games that make practicing the language really, really fun!
First up is an app called Duolingo. I'm sure a bunch of you have heard of it already because it's really popular. Duolingo is awesome because it turns learning English vocabulary and grammar into a game! You start off as a little animated character, and as you complete lessons and practice exercises, you earn points to level up and unlock new levels and challenges. My favorite part is that you can also compete with your friends and see who can get further ahead! Sometimes my friend Sarah and I will race each other to see who can finish a unit first. We're both really competitive, so it definitely motivates us to keep practicing.
Another really cool app is one called Memrise. This one uses something called "spaced repetition" to help you memorize
words and phrases. Basically, it keeps showing you the same vocab over and over again, but with increasing time between repetitions. The spacing is designed to make the words stick in your long-term memory. What's fun about Memrise is that a lot of the courses were created by other users, so you can find hilarious and creative mnemonics to help you remember things. For example, to learn the word "apple" in French, one user associated it with the sentence "An apple fell on Steve Jobs' head to create the Apple company!" Silly stuff like that really helps it stick.
Speaking of mnemonics, another app I really enjoy is Anki. It's kind of similar to Memrise in that it uses spaced repetition flashcards. But Anki lets you create your own flashcards and decks for anything you want to study - English vocabulary, grammar rules, idioms, you name it! I love being able to customize my own study materials. Plus, the app syncs across all your devices, so I can study my Anki decks on my tablet at home or on my phone if I'm out and about.
Of course, sometimes you just want to have fun and play some English games without it feeling too much like "studying." That's where apps like Alice&Pud and Lingokids come in! These are basically just collections of mini-games and activities that
help reinforce English skills like reading, spelling, and listening comprehension. But they're presented in such a silly, colorful, and engaging way that it honestly just feels like you're playing, not working. Alice&Pud has these hilarious talking puppets that guide you through the games, and Lingokids has adorable cartoon characters in all these fantasy adventure worlds. Both apps are perfect for kids my age.
Another game I'm obsessed with is the Reading Club series by Scholastic. These are basically visual novels or interactive comics where you read through a story, but you also have to answer comprehension questions and solve puzzles along the way. The stories are all super engaging mystery/adventure tales with cool plots and characters. And the puzzles actually adapt to your level, so if you're struggling with something, they'll give you hints or easier versions until you get the concepts down. My favorite is the medieval fantasy one called "The Golden Dancer" where you have to explore a kingdom and uncover magical secrets!
Finally, I want to give a shoutout to YouTube channels that make fun videos for learning English. My top recommendations are channels like:
English Singsing: They take popular songs and nursery rhymes and animate them with cute characters acting them out. The animations make the lyrics easier to understand and memorize.
Arty's World: Arty is this goofy puppet who explains grammar concepts and idioms in a really silly, over-the-top way. He always has me cracking up!
English With Jennifer: Jennifer is this bubbly English teacher who posts short skits and roleplays demonstrating how to use English expressions in real conversations.
Those are just a few of my absolute favorite resources for making English practice genuinely entertaining. Between all the apps, games, videos, and more, there's something to appeal to every learning style and interest. So don't be afraid to download a bunch and experiment until you find what works best for you!
Learning a new language can definitely be challenging at times, but incorporating some element of fun makes it so much more enjoyable and motivating. Just remember to find methods that are engaging for YOU personally.
