How to Write a Good CompositionAs we all know, a complete composition contains the following three sections: an introduction (it is also called the beginning part), body paragraphs (it equals the developing parts) and a conclusion. These sections are called writing organization. The introduction and conclusion are generally shorter than the body paragraphs, because they do not have many sentences of supporting details. The body paragraphs are longer and are usually of approximately equal length. The length of these parts of a composition depends on the overall length. For example, a composition of 700 to 900 words, will probably have six to nine paragraphs (an introduction, four to seven body paragraphs, and a conclusion). A research paper of 1,200 words will have more paragraphs, and each paragraph will be relatively longer. Each section of the composition has its own purpose, elements and functions as part of the writing. So in my paper, I will introduce some methods about these three sections of a composition.Every composition must begin with an introduction. The introduction approaches the subject of the composition and declares what it will be.The developing section is the body of the composition. This is the section where the writer fully develops the content, or thesis of the composition.Every composition must have a conclusion. The end of a composition is important because it is often the part that gives the reader the deepest expression.Concluding paragraph should be short, forceful, and thought-provoking, made up mainly of restatements or summaries of the points that have been discussed.Here are some suggested effective ways to end:Suggest a course of action: What is it we want to happen, or that the reader should want to happen as a result of reading our composition? When our purpose is to persuade the reader of something, we may conclude by calling them to action.Offer a solution: At the end of the composition, give a solution to the problem stated in the previous paragraphs.Prediction: Predict a situation that will result or occur from the statement made in the paragraph. We make a prediction based on those points.State a conclusion: Try to conclude information given in the paragraph. The conclusion gives the writer the chance to make sure the audiences see his major points one final time. And it is a good strategy to use when the writer’s major concern is convincing specific information.An effective conclusion is essential to the success of the composition. Most readers will remember the last paragraph more than any other part of the composition. The conclusion is the writer’s last chance to convince the reader of the argument being made or to reemphasize the key points. In other words, it should briefly summarize the strong points of the argument or key points of the composition. But a conclusion is more than just a summary. It must grab the reader’s attention, just as the title and introduction must catch the reader’s attention. But it should not introduce a new idea in the conclusion; that is, do not pose new questions in the conclusion. And it must lead the reader through the summarized key points to the close or ending, leaving the reader satisfied with the presented information that has clearly explained the topic and the w riter’s purpose. In this way, the reader knows the composition is ending and has a sense of completion on the topic.Of course, on the other hand, it is impossible only to adopt one of them to finish the whole writing because a good composition is a combination of comprehensive writing methods. In conclusion,those writing methods above are just for reference only; we should apply them in a more flexible way and then write after careful analysis.。
