语篇组合练(九)
一、完形填空
A
Yesterday was Father's Day. Something that happened between my father and I is still on my mind. It was a Sunday morning, and I was feeling terrible. 1 friends of mine had gone to the movies the night before and neither had invited me. I was in my room 2 ways to make them sorry when my father came in. " Want to go for a ride today, Beck? It's a beautiful day."
" No! Leave me alone!" Those were the 3 words I said to him that morning.
A few hours later, my friends called to ask me to go to the mall with them.
I forgot being 4 with them and went with them. When I came home, I found a 5 from my mother that said, " Dad has had an accident. Please meet us at the Park Hospital." When I reached the hospital, my mother told me a car hit my father and he was seriously 6 . " Your father told the driver to leave him alone and just call 911. If he had moved Daddy…" My mother may have said more, but I didn't hear 7 besides those terrible words: Leave me alone. My dad said them in order to save himself. He didn't want to be hurt. How much had I hurt him when I shouted at him earlier that day? It was several days later that he was 8 able to talk. I held his hand gently, afraid of hurting him.
" Daddy...I am so sorry..."
" It's okay, sweetheart. I'll be okay."
" No," I said, " I mean 9 I said to you that day. You know, that morning."
He looked at me and said, " Sweetheart, I remember nothing about that day." He managed a weak smile. My English teacher once told me that words have great power. They can hurt or they can cure. And we all have the right to 10 what to say. I am going to do that very carefully from now on.

二、阅读理解
Americans use many expressions with the word dog. People in the United States love their dogs and treat them well. They take their dogs for walks, let them play outside and give them good food and medical care. However, dogs without owners to care for them lead a different kind of life. The expression, to lead a dog's life, describes a person who has an unhappy life.
Some people say we live in a dog-eat-dog world. That means many people are competing for the same things, like good jobs. They say that to be successful, a person has to work like a dog. This means they have to work very, very hard. Such hard work can make people dog-tired.And, the situation would be even worse if they became sick as a dog.
Husbands and wives use "doghouse" when they are angry at each other. For example, a woman might get angry at her husband for forgetting their wedding anniversary( 结婚纪念日).She might tell him that he is in the doghouse and treats him badly. However, the husband may decide that it is best to leave things alone and not create more problems. He might decide to let sleeping dogs lie.
Some people are compared to dogs in bad ways. People who are unkind can be described as meaner than a junkyard dog. Junkyard dogs live in places where people throw away things they do not want. Mean dogs are often used to guard properties(房屋及院落). They bark or attack(攻击)people who try to enter the property. However, sometimes a person who appears to be mean and threatening(威胁的)is really not so bad. We say his bark is worse than his bite.
Dog expressions are also used to describe the weather. The dog days of summer are the hottest days of the year. A rainstorm may cool the weather. But we do not want it to rain too hard. We do not want it to rain cats and dogs.

3.If a man comes home late, his wife might say angrily, " ."

三、书面表达
One possible version:
Almost every year in summer, many people are reported dead from drowning accidents. How to prevent such sad accidents? In my opinion, first, we shouldn't go swimming in dangerous places or places we know little about, such as reservoirs and rivers. Second, we had better not swim when we feel tired or hungry.
If we see someone fall into the water, we should save him in a proper way. For example, we can shout as loudly as we can to get those with good swimming skills to help him.
Life is valuable. We should take it seriously. We must remember that safety should always come first while swimming.。
