关于长城的英语作文40字五年级

关于长城的英语作文40字五年级

关于长城的英语作文40字五年级全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Great Wall of China: A Magnificent WonderHi there! My name is Emily, and I'm a 5th-grade student who loves learning about the world's incredible wonders. Today, I want to share with you my fascination with the Great Wall of China, one of the most impressive structures ever built by human hands. Can you imagine a wall so long and tall that it stretches across deserts, mountains, and vast landscapes? That's exactly what the Great Wall of China is! It's an ancient fortification that spans over 13,000 miles across northern China, winding its way through breathtaking natural landscapes. When I first learned about the Great Wall in my history class, I was amazed. How could people build something so massive without modern technology? It's mind-boggling! The Great Wall has stood for centuries, enduring the test of time and the harsh elements of nature. What's even more incredible is that the Great Wall was constructed over many dynasties, with different sections being built and rebuilt by different rulers. It's like a giant jigsaw puzzle that spans across generations! Imagine the coordination and effort required to create such a monumental structure. One of the most fascinating things about the Great Wall is its purpose. It was originally built as a defensive fortification to protect ancient Chinese states and empires from invasions by nomadic groups from the northern steppe. Can you imagine being a soldier stationed along the wall, keeping watch for potential threats? It must have been an incredibly challenging and brave job!As I delved deeper into the history of the Great Wall, I learned about the incredible sacrifices made by the countless laborers who constructed it. They worked tirelessly, carrying heavy materials and battling harsh weather conditions. Their dedication and hard work are truly inspiring. When I look at pictures of the Great Wall, I can't help but marvel at its sheer size and grandeur. It's like a massive dragon snaking its way across the rugged terrain, with its watchtowers jutting out like scales. The views from atop the wall must besimply breathtaking, offering panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscapes. One day, I hope to have the opportunity to visit the Great Wall of China in person. I can imagine myself walking along its ancient paths, running my hands over the weathered bricks, and trying to imagine the stories and secrets it holds. It would be an unforgettable experience, a chance to connect with history and appreciate the incredible engineering and architectural feats of our ancestors. The Great Wall of China is not just a physical structure; it's a testament to human ingenuity, perseverance, and the enduring spirit of a civilization. It reminds us that with determination and collective effort, we can achieve remarkable things, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. So, the next time you learn about the Great Wall of China, remember the incredible stories it holds, the countless lives that were dedicated to its construction, and the enduring legacy it has left for generations to come. It's a true wonder of the world, and one that deserves our utmost admiration and respect.篇2The Great Wall of China: An Amazing WonderHave you ever heard of the Great Wall of China? It's one of the most amazing things ever built by humans! Last summer, my family took a trip to China and we got to see and walk on parts of the Great Wall. It was awesome! The Great Wall is reallyancient - it was first built over 2,000 years ago! Can you imagine how hard it must have been to construct back then without modern tools and machinery? Millions of workers toiled for decades to create this massive wall snaking across the mountains of northern China. Why did they build something so huge and incredible? The main purpose was to protect ancient Chinese empires from invasions by nomadic groups from the north. With the Great Wall acting as a barrier, it was much harder for enemies to enter China. One amazing fact is that the Great Wall is not just one single wall - it's a series of multiple walls and fortifications built over many centuries by different dynasties. Some parts are made of stone, while others use tightly-packed earth. The total length is mind-boggling - it extends for over 13,000 miles! That's about the same distance as going halfway around the entire planet. Wow!When we visited the Great Wall, I couldn't believe how steep and tall it was in some sections. We had to climb up endless stone steps that went straight up the mountainsides. My legs were burning by the time we reached the top! The views were spectacular though, with the gigantic wall ribboning across the green hills and valleys.Watching towers stretched out along the horizon line was so cool. These small fortified towers were built every few hundred yards so that signal fires and smokes could be sent as a warning system. That way, if enemies tried to attack one area, the soldiers could quickly alert troops further down the line. The most memorable part was getting to walk along the wall itself. The stonework was so well-preserved in places, with the original bricks and mortar still holding strong. Yet it also showed lots of wear from wind, rain and time. Some stretches were crumbling or had craters from old cannon attacks. I loved running my hands along the uneven bricks, imagining the ancient people who had built it stone-by-stone so many centuries ago.Our guide taught us about the various fortified gateways and barracks that still remain. He explained how the Wall had deep trenches dug on either side, with soldiers patrolling boththe inner and outer grounds. Positioned at important mountain passes, these gateways controlled traffic moving through the Great Wall.I was surprised to learn that despite its impressive size, the Great Wall wasn't all that effective at Actually stopping invaders over its long history. Determined forces were eventually able to breach it, go around it, or find ways to sneak across. Still, it served as an important defensive line and symbolic border for many dynasties. After walking on the Great Wall and seeing its immense scale, I have such respect and awe for the workers who originally constructed it. Their blood, sweat and tears went into every stone and brick. The Wall was built completely by human muscle-power - no machines back then! Hundreds of thousands of unlucky souls lost their lives while laboring on this massive project.Today, the Great Wall of China is considered one of the true wonders of the world and the most famous man-made landmark in China. Seeing it with my own eyes was an experience I'll never forget. Who knew that something first built as a military defense could eventually become a beloved global icon and source of national pride?I hope someday I can go back and explore more remote sections of the Great Wall. For now, I'll always treasure the memory of clambering up those ancient stone steps, walking where countless Chinese emperors and warriors once trod. To me, that's what makes the Great Wall so magical - it's an incredible feat of human determination and perseverance stretching across history. What an epic adventure!篇3The Great Wall of China: A Marvel of Ancient EngineeringHave you ever heard of the Great Wall of China? It's one of the most amazing structures ever built by humans, and it's been around for a really, really long time! When I first learned about it in school, I couldn't believe my ears. A wall that stretches for thousands of miles across China? That's just mind-blowing!Last summer, my family and I got the chance to visit the Great Wall, and let me tell you, it was an experience I'll never forget. As we approached the wall, it seemed to go on forever, snaking across the rugged mountains and valleys like a giant stone dragon. The sheer size of it was enough to make my jaw drop. Our tour guide told us that the Great Wall was built over many centuries, starting as early as the 3rd century BC. Can you imagine how much work that must have been? Thousands and thousands of workers, carrying heavy stones and bricks, and carefully placing them one by one to create this massive fortification. It's mind-boggling to think about the level of organization and engineering skills required to pull off such an incredible feat.As we began our hike along the wall, I was struck by the steepness of the steps and the narrow pathways. It was like climbing a giant staircase that seemed to stretch into the clouds. Every step felt like a challenge, but the views from the top were absolutely breathtaking. On one side, we could see the lush, green mountains rolling into the distance, and on the other, the vast, arid plains stretched out as far as the eye could see.One of the most fascinating things I learned was that the Great Wall wasn't just a single, continuous structure. It was actually a series of fortifications, watchtowers, and garrison stations built by different dynasties over the centuries. Each section had its own unique architectural style and defensive features, reflecting the ingenuity and innovation of the builders. As we explored different sections of the wall, I couldn't help but imagine what it must have been like for the soldiers who once guarded these ancient fortifications. I pictured them keeping a watchful eye on the horizon, ready to sound the alarm at the first sign of an approaching enemy. The wall was more than just a physical barrier; it was a symbol of strength, resilience, and the unwavering determination of the Chinese people to protect their homeland. As I stood there, taking in the sheer majesty of this ancient wonder, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride and awe. The Great Wall is a testament to the ingenuity and perseverance of human beings. It reminds us that with determination and hard work, we can achieve incredible things, even in the face of seemingly insurmountable challenges. In the end, our visit to the Great Wall left me with a newfound appreciation for history, engineering, and the incredible achievements of our ancestors. It's a place that truly captures the imagination, inviting us to step back in time and marvel at the wonders of the ancient world. If you ever get the chance to visit, don't hesitate – it's an experience you'll never forget.篇4The Great Wall of China: A Marvel of Ancient EngineeringHave you ever heard of the Great Wall of China? It's this massive wall that stretches across the northern part of China for thousands of miles. It's one of the most amazing structures ever built by humans, and I got to visit it last summer with my family. Let me tell you all about this incredible wonder of the world!First of all, the Great Wall is really, really old. Construction began way back in the 3rd century BCE during the Qin Dynasty. That's over 2,300 years ago! Can you imagine how hard it must have been to build something so huge without modern tools and machinery? Millions of workers toiled for years, carrying heavy stone bricks up steep mountain ridges. The working conditions were brutal, and many lost their lives building the wall. But why go through all that trouble to construct a giant wall, you ask? Well, it was built as a defensive fortification to protect ancient Chinese states from raids by nomadic groups from the northern steppe. With watchtowers dotting the length of the wall and garrison troops stationed along it, the Great Wall formed an imposing barrier to invaders. As we drove northwards from Beijing towards the wall, I could already see sections of it snaking along distant mountainridges. Finally, we reached Badaling, one of the most famous and best-preserved sections. Climbing up to the top of the wall was tough - the stairs were incredibly steep! But the view from up there was just breathtaking. The walkway along the top was quite narrow, with crenellated parapets on either side. The wall didn't go in a straight line, but rather followed the contours of the rugged mountain terrain, winding and twisting like a giant stone dragon. At each bend, there were solid watchtowers fortified with more parapets. I could imagine soldiers scanning the horizon for threats and lighting signal fires to raise the alarm. We walked for a couple of miles along the wall, marveling at the immense scale of the construction. In some places, the wall was over 25 feet high and 15-30 feet wide at the base! Just imagine how long it must have taken to transport and carefully stack all those massive granite bricks. The mortar between the bricks was so strong that plants were growing out of the walls. It was a scorching summer day, so we were grateful whenever we reached a watchtower where we could take a break in the shade. The views from those towers, looking out across the surrounding mountains and valleys, were simply spectacular. Nowonder the Great Wall is considered one of the greatest feats of engineering from the ancient world.Still, the Great Wall stands as a powerful symbol of Chinese strength, unity and perseverance against the forces that threatened the country over the centuries. These days, it's one of the most popular tourist attractions in China, drawing millions of visitors annually from all over the world. I feel so lucky to have walked along this incredible ancient wonder with my own feet!I'm sure I'll never forget that experience of climbing the steep steps, trekking along the winding ramparts, and gazing out from those watchtowers. The sheer scale and longevity of the Great Wall is just mind-blowing. It's amazing to think that something built so long ago by human hands still stands as one of the most iconic structures on the planet. If you ever get a chance to visit, you absolutely must. The Great Wall truly lives up to its name as one of the great wonders of the world!篇5The Great Wall of China: A Magnificent MarvelAs a fifth-grader, I have always been fascinated by the wonders of the world. Among them, the Great Wall of China stands out as a remarkable feat of human ingenuity andperseverance. This colossal structure, stretching across the vast expanse of China's landscape, has captured my imagination since I first learned about it in school. The Great Wall is not just a wall; it's a testament to the resilience and determination of the Chinese people. Spanning over 13,000 miles, it winds its way through rugged mountains, lush forests, and arid deserts, creating a formidable barrier against invaders from the north. Its construction, which spanned over two millennia and multiple dynasties, is a feat that boggles the mind.Imagine the sheer labor and dedication it must have taken to build such a monumental structure. Millions of workers toiled tirelessly, hauling massive stone blocks, digging deep into the earth, and scaling perilous heights to erect this colossal wall. The blood, sweat, and tears shed during its construction are a testament to the indomitable spirit of the Chinese people. As I envision walking along the Great Wall, I can almost feel the weight of history pressing down upon me. Each brick, each stone, whispers tales of conquest, valor, and sacrifice. It's as if the wall itself is a living, breathing entity, bearing witness to the rise and fall of empires, the triumphs and tragedies of countless generations. One aspect that particularly fascinates me is the ingenious engineering behind the Great Wall. The builders employed a variety of techniques to overcome the rugged terrain, from intricate brick-laying patterns to sophisticated drainage systems. They even incorporated watchtowers, fortresses, and signal fires, transforming the wall into a formidable defense system.Imagining the wall as it once was, bustling with soldiers, merchants, and travelers, fills me with a sense of wonder and awe.I can almost hear the echoes of their footsteps, the clashing of swords, and the hushed whispers of those seeking refuge within its embrace.Beyond its military significance, the Great Wall has become a symbol of unity and national pride for the Chinese people. It represents the resilience and determination that have shaped their history, reminding them of their ability to overcome even the greatest of challenges. As a student, I am inspired by the Great Wall's legacy. I long to stand atop its ancient ramparts, gaze out over the vast expanse, and feel the weight of history upon my shoulders. Perhaps, in that moment, I will gain a deeper appreciation for the incredible feat of engineering and human spirit that brought this marvel into existence. The Great Wall of China is not just a relic of the past; it is a living, breathing testament to the boundless potential of human ingenuity and determination. There is no Chinese wall around the economy
by Jayne Brocklehurst
No country is immune to the global debt crisis. Even China’s double-digit growth is in doubt as the world economy switches from sustained growth to increasing contraction…but what can the Sleeping Dragon do about it?
The current crisis is notmaking the same headlines as the financial crisis of 2008: it’s not about high-flying investment bankers falling to ground. It’s about governments paying the bill for bailing them out, corporations cutting jobs to counter falling sales and consumers cutting back on spending to stay afloat. In this kind of environment; no country does well – especially countries whose economies are export-driven, such as China. Even China’s arguably und ervalued currency will not help to buoy exports to the US and Europe when recovery is so slow in these markets as borne out by the latest jobless figures from the US –China’s single-biggest foreign customer.
What’s more, any additional injection of capit al into the global economic system – another round of quantitative easing by the US Federal Reserve, for example –will only lead to more inflationary pressure on the Chinese economy. Professor Jonathan Story, Emeritus Professor of International Political Economy at INSEAD, however, remains optimistic that “systems are going to continue to run and trade surpluses will keep on piling up”.
Others view the crisis as an opportunity: Professor Keyu Jin, Assistant Professor of Economics at the London School of Economics argues that world events can be the impetus to promote more regional economic integration. “One thing people don’t realise is that China’s largest trade volume is intra-regional,” he told the Khaleej Times in August 2011.
Given the huge un satisfied demand of the bulk of China’s citizenry outside the “fertile crescent” between Beijing and Shanghai, m any analysts believe the solution to what ails China in the wake of the West’s economic malaise involves China’s being able to stimulate domestic consumption and investment and move away from a reliance on exports. This would help curtail the country’s rising inflation rate (around 6 percent), the result of a weak currency linked to cheap exports.
There is evidence this is already happening, according to Wang Tao, China Economic Research Head of UBS Securities.“The good news is that China has become less reliant on export growth than before the 2008 global financial crisis,” he told the Khaleej Times in August 2011. “A nd the property market is not in a deep downturn as it was back in 2008. China will be affected by what is going
on globally, but we are not expecting a hard landing.”
