Can you wri te the Chinese characters “ganga” (embarrassment) correctly? Do you know how to write characters like “tiaozhou” (broom)?
If you can’t, you’re not alone. Nowadays, most people
are typing into puters instead of writing on paper. We
type Chinese characters largely according to their pronun-
ciation. It’s not helpful for us to remember how to write
them.
As we all know, Chinese is the only language in the
world that bines (结合) pronunciation, form and meaning into one character. And there are more than 85,000 Chinese characters. Among them, about 3,500 are in daily use. Chinese characters have a long history and they have been used for over 4,000 years.
In 2013, China Youth Daily did a survey of 2,517 people, in which 98.9 percent said they had once forgotten how to write a mon Chinese character.
pared to adults, teenagers are better at writing Chinese characters, because they spend more time learning and practicing at school. However, we should also pay attention to the influences of the digitaltechnology, according to He Yu, head of a research team for Chinese teaching at a Beijing high school.“Many students are obsessed with digital devices(数码设备) such as electronic dictionaries and puters to help with their studies. Overuse of these tools will make stud ents too lazy to think and write,” He said.
Such worries have brought about a popular TV show named Chinese Spelling Hero, which aims at Chinese character writing among teenagers. In April, the Ministry of Education called for better calligraphy (书法) education in schools. Organizations like the China Calligraphers Association are also working to train more teachers in calligraphy. Interestingly, calligraphy teachers can’t always avoid the influences of modern technology.
51.Some of people can’t write the Chinese characters “ganga” correctly because ____.
A. they’re English words
B. they seldom use the characters
C. most people type them instead of writing
52.How many people had ever forgotten how to write a mon Chinese character according to the survey?
A. 2517.
B. 989.
C. About 2467.
53.What does the underlined word “obsessed ” mean?
A.唯一的
B.沉迷的
C.疲惫的
54.What is He Yu?
A. A writer.
B. A team leader.
C. A high school student.
55.Which is NOT TRUE according to the passage?
A. Students have had the classes of calligraphy education since April this year
B. There are about 3,500 Chinese characters that are used in our daily life
C. “Chinese Spelling Hero” is a TV program to encourage teenagers to write Chine se characters. 第二节回答问题 ( 5小题,计10分)

We all know that Britain and America are two countries connected by a mon language. But in fact, the differences between them are more fun.
First, if someone knocks into an American, the American will be angry with the person and expect him to say “sorry”. However, if a Briton is knocked into by someone, he will say “sorry”before the other does.
Second, Britons usually dressup when going out for dinner somewhere nice. But Americans will
probably wear a normal shirt to go to a good restaurant.
What’s more, when a Briton gets on a taxi, he will give the driver an addres s then both the passenger and taxi driver will remain silent until it’s time to pay.
