In our life, we don’t often expressed our gratitude(感激) to the one who’d lived those years with us. In fact, we don’t have to wait for anniversaries to thank the ones closet to us--- the ones so easily overlooked(忽视). If I have learned anything about giving thanks, it is time to give it now! While your feeling of appreciation is alive and sincere, act on it. Saying thanks is such an easy way to add to the world’s happiness.
Saying thanks not only brightens someone else’ world, it brightens yours. If you’re feeling left out, unloved or unappreciated, try reaching out to others. It may be just the medicine you need, Of course, there are times when you can’t express gratitude immediately. In that case don’t let embarrassment sink you into silence--- speak up the first time you have the chance.
Once a young minister, Mark Brian, was sent to a remote parish of Kwakiutl Indians in British Columbia. The Indians, he had been told, did not have a word for thanking you. But the Brian soon found these people had exceptional generosity. Instead of saying thanks, it is their custom to return every favor with a favor of their own, and every kindness with an equal or superior kindness. They do their thanks.
I wonder if we had no words in our vocabulary for thanking you, would we do a better job of communicating our gratitude? Would we be more responsive, more sensitive, more caring?

七、任务阅读(共10分,每小题2分)
Most of us use alarm clocks to wake up at the right time for school or work. We look at our watches to know the right time for the bus or train. However, there is also a right time to eat, sleep, exercise, and take medicine, too. We can’t look at a clock for the right time for these activities. We must listen to the clock inside our bodies: the biological clock(生物钟)
Barbara Wells exercised every morning. She woke up at 6:00 am. She ran about two miles before she went to work. But Barbara’s legs and back(后背) started to hurt. She did some exercises before she ran. But her legs and back still hurt. She ran slower, but the pain didn’t stop. Barbara talked to her doctor. The doctor said,“Don’t run in the morning. Try to exercise later in the day. That is the time when your body is at the right temperature for exercises after work.” Her legs and back don’t hurt anymore.
Today, doctors are learning more about chronobiology (时间生物学),the study of biology clocks. They are learning about the importance of time for our bodies. For example, it is best for people to go to sleep at the same time every night and to eat only when they’re hungry. Also, doctors discovered that some illness, such as heart attacks(心脏病), occur(发生)most often in the morning. This information tells them that the best time to take heart medication may be at night. When patients take heart medicine at night, they may prevent a heart attack in the morning.
Many doctors believe chronobilogy can help us live healthier lives. It may be the right time to listen to these doctors!

My neighbor, John lives alone. He had an unbelievable experience. Three days ago, a huge plate suddenly landed in front of his house. There might be someone visiting him. Then a short alien got out of the strange UFO and knocked at John’s window. He was too scared to move away. After a minute the door opened little by little. He saw an ugly alien walking up to him. It can’t be a human being. “Help! Help!” John cried loudly, running out of his ho use. Many neighbors were woken up by the scary noises. The alien noticed him at once. It was chasing after the poor man. At the moment, it thundered and lightened in the sky. Everything disappeared when John turned back. There could be something strange around us. Do you believe it or not?。
