表语从句
当从句放在系动词后，从句作表语，从而构成表语从句，可引导表语从句的有：
1.连语that, whether.
My idea is that we should go now.
The point is whether you would like to go with us.
2.连接代词：what, who, which.
3.连接副词: where, when, how, why.
4.可以接表语从句的系动词有:be, look, remain, seem.
It seems that it is going to rain.
5.the reason…that( 不用because ).
The reason why he did not come is that he is ill.
他没来的原因是他生病了。

1．Captain Ben Fawcett has bought an unusual taxi and has begun a new service.
本·弗西特机长买了一辆不同寻常的出租汽车，并开始了一项新的业务，begin—began—begun
•cab 出租车（美）by taxi =by cab
•captain 机长，船长
•service 1) 服务，贡献，帮助，功劳
social services 社会福利事业
He did me a good service. 他帮了我很大的忙。

2）供水，通讯事业，公共事业，业务，公共汽车的行驶，班次等。

a postal service 邮政业务
the telephone service 业务，网络
3）车辆，机器等定期的维修
When did you take your car for service?你什么时候修你的车？
after-sale service 售后服务
4）军务，兵役
He was in the service for two years.他在服两年兵役。

5）at a person’s service 随时为某人服务
I’m at your service. 我随时为你服务。

2.The ‘taxi’is a small Swiss aeroplane called a ‘Pilatus Porter’. 这辆“出租汽
车”是一架小型瑞士飞机。

叫“皮勒特斯·波特”号。

•Swiss 1）adj. 瑞士人的，瑞士的
2）n.瑞士人（单复数同形）
•Switzerland 瑞士
•called a 'Pilatus Porter' 被叫做‘Pilatus Porter’的飞机。

called过去分词做定语。

短语作定语时要后置the girl in red blouse
单个的词作定语时可放前边 a shy girl

the 不能和所有格与形容词物主代词并存。

5. Captain Fawcett's first passenger was a doctor who flew from Birmingham to a lonely village in the Welsh mountains.弗西特机长的第一句乘客是位医生，他从伯明翰飞往威尔士山区一个偏僻的村庄。

alone 无不愉快的含义lonely含不愉快之意

6. Since then, Captain Fawcett has flown passengers to many unusual places.从那时开始，弗西特机长已经载送乘客到过很多不同寻常的地方。

since then 强调起点,从那时开始，到现在为止。

so for / up to now 强调终点，到目前为止。

•fly sb to..开飞机送某人去

bring 带来（离说话人越来越近）bring sth. here
take 拿走（离说话人越来越远）take there
fetch 去取（去了再回来）双向动词
