World Consumer Rights Day is an annual day for consumers(消费者) to get together and know they have rights(权益), even in today's world of multinational corporations. It started in 1983 and has grown ever since. It also aims to promote consumers' rights and require that the law and companies protect these rights. Also on this day, people will have social activities to uncover the social injustices(不公正) that abuse consumers' rights. These can include unethical marketing, the use of dangerous technologies and production processes, and the sale of harmful products. Previous social activities have focused on junk food and children, unethical drug promotion, and companies’ control of the food chain. The website, Consumer International .org, states World Consumer Rights Day has its origins in the 1960s. Former US President John F. Kennedy created four basic consumer rights: The right to safety, the right to be informed, the right to choose, and the right to be heard. The website has added another four to these: The right to satisfaction of basic needs, the right to redress, the right to education, and the right to a healthy environment. And they would each get a year named after them in their honor. During the race, the ox was winning, until he had to cross the rushing river, the rat was right behind him and couldn't swim very well, so the kind ox let the rat ride on his back. While bushfires(森林大火) can happen at any time of the year, the time of peak bushfire activity varies across Australia with changes in seasonal weather patterns. For northern Australia, the peak bushfire period is during the dry season, which is generally throughout winter and spring; and for southern Australia, the bushfire season peaks in summer and autumn.
While these are the traditional peaks of the bushfire season, local conditions can lead to dangerous fire activity at any time. When the weather is hot, the humidity is low and there's been little rain, vegetation dries out and becomes easier to catch fire. Strong winds help fan the flames(火势) and cause a fire to spread faster, reducing the time people have to prepare. Above the fire, strong winds can carry hot embers long distances. These can also start fires in other distant areas. Lightning, produced by thunderstorms, can cause bushfires. Large fires can also create their own thunderstorms which can cause more intense and dangerous bushfire behavior.
The related department will report fire weather warnings when forecast weather conditions are likely to be dangerous. They work closely with emergency services
around the country to keep the locals informed. The government uses six fire danger ratings to represent the level of bushfire risk. The higher the rating, the more dangerous the conditions are likely to be, and at higher ratings any fire that starts will be likely to be fast-moving and difficult to control. No matter what the forecast fire rating, if you live in or are travelling to an area that could be affected by bushfire, you need to have a bushfire plan in place, so you know what to do if a bushfire starts. On a day when dangerous bushfire activity is more likely, stay in touch with your local fire agency and emergency services via their website and social media—and tune into emergency broadcasters.
