Last summer, after finishing my work in China,I took the trip of a lifetime on the Trans-Siberian Railway

Leaving Beijing early on a Wednesday morning in July, my wife and I travelled through some awesome (令人惊叹的) countryside before we arrived in Moscow the following Monday.
The first part of the journey took us past the Great Wall and through the grasslands of Inner Mongolia. At the Mongolian Republic border, we had a delay(耽搁)while the wheels were changed because the railway is different.
On our way to the capital, Ulan Bator,we saw herdsmen (牧人) on horseback looking after their cattle. There was a great thunderstorm as we crossed a vast open plain. Later we had a quick tour of Ulan Bator. Next, the train took us into Siberia。

After a stop at Irkutsk,a popular holiday resort(度假胜地),where a tour group left the train, we passed the great Lake Baikal。

Later,we saw some lovely wooden houses in pretty, sunny countryside。

This surprised us,as we had imagined Siberia as being covered with thick snow。

Over the next few days, we passed through Novosibirsk,Omsk and other cities in the heartlands of the Russian Federation. By now,our
body clocks were losing their sense of time. We wanted to sleep and eat at the wrong time!
At last we reached Moscow。

We were so tired that we slept for 16 hours that night. The next day we went sightseeing. We saw the Dremlin and some other magnificent (宏伟的) buildings in the Russian capital. Then, all too soon,it was time for us to return to our home in London。

24.How many days did it take the author to reach Moscow? A.Three。

Lazy people will never gain anything in life. However, laziness can be defeated once a few changes have been made in your mind.
One way to fight laziness is to get enough sleep。

Many people lack sleep constantly, since they stay up too late and get up too early to prepare for work. These people have little motivation once they arrive home。

Laziness works hand in hand with a lack of motivation and a tendency to put off things. By adjusting your sleep schedule to provide a few more hours of meaningful rest, you can fight laziness throughout the day. Another way to fight laziness is to change your mind from passive to active。

Some people treat their lives as if they were pushed from task to task. Others take a more positive approach, viewing each task as a challenge they must overcome alone。

Laziness appears when you no longer feel in charge of your own mind.
Some people fight laziness by removing the temptations that surround them。

A television in the living room may provide entertainment, but watching too much TV often contributes to laziness. Create a reward system for yourself, just as parents do for a child. Complete a few tasks and reward yourself with what you enjoy, such as a good dinner or a film. Laziness can also be a lasting problem at home. Couples and children may all have different energy levels, but laziness can be spread if not dealt with immediately. To fight family laziness, set an example。

Be the first to collect and wash dishes after a meal. Others in the home may eventually follow your example and perform their own task. It is difficult to practice
laziness when you are surrounded by motivated (积极的)people。

Finally, taking exercise regularly can help you fight laziness. Enough exercise and a balanced diet can help you to develop a healthy lifestyle, thus enabling you to have more energy and help lift your spirits。

28.How many ways have been mentioned in this passage to defeat laziness?
A.3 B.4 C.5 D.6
29.According to Paragraph 2,we can know that ________。

A.people who don’t get enough sleep must be lazy
B.people who lack of motivation must be lazy
C.people who stay up too late and get up too early must be lazy D.people w ho adjust their sleep schedule mustn’t be lazy
30.The underlined word “temptations” is closest in meaning to
_______.
A.excitements
B.distractions
C.attractions
D.entertainments
31.Which of the following is the best title for the passage?
A.How to fight laziness?
B.Laziness does great harm to our life。

C.Lazy people will never gain anything.
D.Laziness can be defeated.
D
After years of heated debate, gray wolves were reintroduced to Yellowstone National Park. Fourteen wolves were caught in Canada and transported to the park. By last year, the Yellowstone wolf population had grown to more than 170 wolves。

Gray wolves once were seen here and there in the Yellowstone area and much of the continental United States, but they were gradually displaced by human development. By the 1920s, wolves had practically disappeared from the Yellowstone area. They went farther north into the deep forests of Canada, where there were fewer humans around.
The disappearance of the wolves had many unexpected results. Deer and elk(麋鹿) populations — major food sources (来源)for the wolf —grew rapidly. These animals consumed large amounts of vegetation (植被),which reduced plant diversity in the park。

In the absence of wolves, coyote(丛林狼)populations also grew quickly. The coyotes killed a large percentage of the park’s red foxes, and completely drove away the park's beavers(海狸)。

As early as 1966,biologists asked the government to consider reintroducing wolves to Yellowstone Park。

They hoped that wolves would be able to control the elk and coyote problems. Many farmers opposed the plan because they feared that wolves would kill their farm animals or pets.
The government spent nearly 30 years coming up with a plan to reintroduce the wolvers. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service carefully monitors and manages the wolf packs in Yellowstone。

Today,the
debate continues over how well the gray wolf is fitting in at Yellowstone。

Elk,deer, and coyote populations are down, while beavers and red foxes have made a comeback. The Yellowstone wolf project has been a valuable experiment to help biologists decide whether to reintroduce wolves to other parts of the country as well.
32.What is the text mainly about?
A.Wildlife research in the United States.
B.Plant diversity in the Yellowstone area.
C.The conflict between farmers and gray wolves.
D.The reintroduction of wolves to Yellowstone Park。

33.What does the underlined word "displaced"in paragraph 2 mean?
A.Tested。

B.Separated。

C.Forced out。

D.Killed
34.What did the disappearance of gray wolves bring about? A.Damage to local ecology。

B.A decline in the park’s income。

C.Preservation of vegetation。

D.An increase in the variety of animals。

35.What is the author’s attitude towards the Yellowstone wolf project?
A.Doubtful. B.Positive.

Leaving Beijing early on a Wednesday morning in July,my wife and I travelled through some awesome (令人惊叹的)countryside before we arrived in Moscow the following Monday.,可知,作者和妻子周二离开北京到下周的周一到达莫斯科,中间花了6天时间,所以选项D正确,故选D。

On our way to the capital, Ulan Bator,……,可知,Ulan Bator是Mongolian Republic的首都,所以选项A正确,故选A。

This surprised us,as we had imagined Siberia as being covered with thick snow。

After a stop at Irkutsk,a popular holiday resort(度假胜地), where a tour group left the train,we passed the great Lake Baikal. Later, we saw some lovely wooden houses in pretty, sunny countryside。

C篇28.C 29.B 30.C 31.A

These people have little motivation once they arrive home. Laziness works hand in hand with a lack of motivation and a tendency to put off things.

Some people fight laziness by removing the temptations that surround them。

A television in the living room may provide entertainment, but watching too much TV often contributes to laziness.

故选A.
D 篇32.D 33.C 34.A 35.B

根据本段后两句“By the 1920s, wolves had practically disappeared from the Yellowstone area。

They went farther north into the deep forests of Canada, where there were fewer humans around.(到20世纪20年代,黄石地区的狼几乎已经消失了。

根据第三段的内容“These animals consumed large amounts of vegetation (植被), which reduced plant diversity in the park. In the absence of wolves, coyote populations also grew quickly. The coyotes killed a large percentage of the park’s red foxes, and completely drove away the park’s beavers。

故选A.

根据文章末段的最后一句“The Yellowstone wolf project has been a valuable experiment to help biologists decide whether to reintroduce wolves to other parts of the country as well。

38.根据本段第一句“Singing helps in reducing your depression and lowering your stress level."可知歌唱能有助于减轻你的抑郁,降低你的压力水平。
