初中英语阅读理解训练及参考答案(通用9篇)中考英语阅读理解及解析篇一Advertisers Perform a Useful Service to the CommunityAdvertisers tend to think big and perhaps this is why they’re always coming in for criticism. Their critics seem to resent them because they have a flair for self-promotion and because they have so much money to throw around. ‘It’s iniquitous,’ they say, ‘that this entirely unproductive industry (if we can call it that) should absorb millions of pounds each year. It only goes to show how much profit the big companies are making. Why don’t they stop advertising and reduce the price of their goods? After all, it’s the consumer who pays…’The poor old consumer! He’d have to pay a great deal more if advertising didn’t create mass markets for products. It is precisely because of the heavy advertising that consumer goods are so cheap. But we get the wrong idea if we think the only purpose of advertising is to sell goods. Another equally important function is to inform. A great deal of the knowledge we have about household goods derives largely from the advertisements we read. Advertisements introduce us to new products or remind us of the existence of ones we already know about. Supposing you wanted to buy a washing machine, it is more than likely you would obtain details regarding performance, price, etc., from an advertisement.Lots of people pretend that they never read advertisements, but this claim may be seriously doubted. It is hardly possible not to read advertisements these days. And what fun they often are, too! Just think what a railway station or a newspaper would be like without advertisements. Would you enjoy gazing at a blank wall or reading railway byelaws while waiting for a train? Would you like to read only closely printed columns of news in your daily paper? A cheerful, witty advertisement makes such a difference to a drab wall or a newspaper full of the daily ration of calamities. We must not forget, either, that advertising makes a positive contribution to our pockets. Newspapers, commercial radio and television companies could not subsist without this source of revenue. The fact that we pay so little for our daily paper, or can enjoy so many broadcast programmes is due entirely to the money spent by advertisers. Just think what a newspaper would cost if we had to pay its full price!Another thing we mustn’t forget is the ‘small ads.’ which are in virtually every newspaper and magazine. What a tremendously useful service they perform for the community! Just about anything can be accomplished through these columns. For instance, you can find a job, buy or sell a house, announce a birth, marriage or death in what used to be called the ‘hatch, match and dispatch’ column but by far the most fascinating section is the personal or ‘agony’ column. No other item in a newspaper provides such entertaining reading or offers such a deep insight into human nature. It’s the best advertisement for advertising there is!1. What is main idea of this passage?A. Advertisement.B. The benefits of advertisement.C. Advertisers perform a useful service to communities.D. The costs of advertisement.2. The attitude of the author toward advertisers isA. appreciative.B. trustworthy.C. critical.D. dissatisfactory.3. Why do the critics criticize advertisers?A. Because advertisers often brag.B. Because critics think advertisement is a “waste of money”。

The theme of the day this year is to give students more knowledge about safety and make sure their lives safe.A survey done by the China Youth and Children Research Center showed that school accidents killmore elementary and middle school students than anything else. The main accidents come from stampedes, earthquakes, fires and sports injuries (伤害).What can we do to keep ourselves safe? Staying calm (镇静) is the first and most important rule when facing accidents. But different accidents have different self-protection advice.A stampede is possible anywhere. The larger a human crowd gets, the more likely stampedes become. When students around you begin to push, stand still and try to hold onto something, or stay in a corner until the crowd leaves. If you fall down in a moving crowd, cover your head with both hands. Lean to one side, curl up your body and bend your legs.Earthquakes are common natural disasters (灾难). When you feel the ground shake, drop down, take cover under a desk and hold on. You should stay indoors until the shaking stops. It’s away to teach kids necessary 21st century skills. It invites kids to make connections to the outside world by asking, “Where does our food come from? ”and “What is the history of this recipe?”. And it allows them to applywhat they are learning at school in their real life. They also test the math skills of young chefs. Measuring ingredients (原料) is a common task in cooking or baking. Cooking also brings science ideas to life. It is a perfect chance for them to learn that oil and water don’t usually mix.Recipe failures (失败) matter as much as the successes, as they help kids develop resilience(韧性). When Helen, 11, took her cake out of the oven, she was disappointed to find that it was flat as a board. Her father told her about how he accidentally made cookies with garlic powder instead of powdered ginger(姜) when he was twelve. Then they worked together a few times to find out what had gone wrong with her cake.Beyond the practical skills, cooking builds character. It encourages kids to work with others. It also encourages them to be open to foods they might not have tried. Jad, 11, had never eaten quinoa (藜麦) before testing a recipe with quinoa in it. His parents reported that he was so excited about this new ingredient that he cooked it for his family the next night.Of course, the best part of cooking with kids isn’t the skills above. It’s the memories you make together in the kitchen. This year, Oliver and his family have already done a lot of holiday baking, including their favorite chocolate-chip cookies. They both felt excited even though the kitchen was in a mess.56.The passage mainly talks about the advantages of ________.A.skills B.cooking C.science D.families57.The underlined word “apply” in Paragraph 1 is closest in meaning to ________.A.teach B.finish C.use D.answer58.The best part of cooking with children is ________.A.to make children learn math B.to help children learn from failuresC.to improve children’s cooking skills D.to create sweet family memories59.In the passage, the writer shows his ideas by ________.A.asking questions B.giving examples C.listing numbers D.making up stories第14篇60.Jenny’s parents have ________ children.A.two B.three C.four61.The students have ________ PE classes every week.A.four B.five C.three62.Dale, Eric and Peter all like their ________ school uniforms.A.black and white B.blue and yellow C.white and blue63.In my class, boys ________ after dinner.A.do homework B.play soccer C.read books64.Two topics(话题): ①Friends & Family; ②Eating habits & sports. 未命名初三英语阅读4一、阅读单选“Save the whales!” That’s what the picture on Jake Smith’s bedroom wall said. Jake liked having a picture that said something important: that showed he cared. He just never expected to get a chance to save a real whale—one right in his own neighborhood! It was a Saturday morning when the newspaper first reported the whales’ coming. A group of them were swimming close to the beach in Jake’s hometown. All the local people rushed out to the beach to see them. They were expecting a beautiful show, better than a movie, but it didn’t turn out like that. Then one whale swam in their direction, directly toward land. It came in with the waves (海浪), and when the waves receded, its huge body was left on the sand. Suddenly, Jake and his family and all the others were no longer sightseers. They had to become rescuers. A few people ran toward the animal. They pushed and tried to force the whale back into the water, but it was no use.An animal rescue service team soon arrived in a truck with heavy lifting machinery to help move the animal. Jake and his family couldn’t do much on the beach, so they went back to their house and made sandwiches and hot tea for the rescuers. At least, Jake thought, they could help in someway.Back at the beach, they offered the food to the rescuers and were happy to see that it was needed. It was getting dark. Some people lined up their cars along the beach and shined their headlights on the sand. The rescuers would not give up. After trying many times they were finally able to lift the whale into the water. Everyone cheered when it headed out to sea. It swam out about a mile and then disappeared for a moment under the sea. Then, in what looked like a jump of joy, it rose high above the water —a thank-you to those who had worked so hard to save its life. 1.What does the picture on Jake’s wall say about him?A.He lives near the ocean. You’re becoming more independent and making decisions for yourself. You are also learning to take risks and solve problems better than you could before. And changes are happening throughout your body, even in your brain. You can’t see the changes in your brain, but they’re affecting how you develop into an adult. At this time in your life, there is a process going on inside your brain that makes it work faster and more efficiently. Imagine that the structure of your brain is like a big road map. There are lots of roads leading to different destinations (终点). When you were a child, as you learned new things, your brain created more roads leading to different destinations. By the time you become a teenager, the most important places on the map have many different roads leading to them. Now your brain’s job is to make that map more efficient. It removes the roads that you don’t need and works to make the other roads faster. As a result, your experiences as a teenager actually affect the way that your brain develops. If you spend hours playing video games, what skills do you use? You learn to see something with your eyes and respond (回应) to it with your hands, right? As you develop those skills, your brain is making sure that the roads leading to them are especially fast and efficient. So, your video game playing could be preparing you for a career such as a fighter pilot, or even a surgeon. This is a great time for you to practice new skills and discover what you’re good at and what you love doing. Go out and try different activities, and stick with them if you think they’re useful. Remember that with everything you do, you’re shaping your brain for the future.6.As children learn new things, ________.A.their brains will become road maps B.their brains create more roads to different destinations C.they need to draw lots of big road maps D.many different roads lead to the most important places7.The underlined word “remove” in the passage probably means “________”.A.go quickly B.take up C.take away D.change home 8.What does the underlined word “it” in Paragraph 3 refer to?A.Your brain. B.Teenagers should work harder and more efficiently.C.Teenagers should play more video games in order to be a pilot.D.Teenagers should experience more and stick to the useful activities.10.Which would be the best title for the passage?A.Making Decisions for Yourself. But everyone in her town knew that McCarty was not rich. In fact, she was poor. How did a poor 86-year-old woman have so much money? Oseola McCarty was born in 1908 in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. She had to leave school when she was eight years old to help her family. She took a job washing clothes. She earned only a few dollars a day. Oseola washed the clothes by hand. Then she hung the clothes to dry. She did this for nearly 80 years. In the 1960s, she bought an automatic washer and dryer. But she gave them away. It adds up. How much rubbish do you produce? Americans throw away about one ton of rubbish per person every year. That’s 2000 pounds of rubbish! Most of the rubbish gets covered in big holes in the round called landfills (垃圾掩埋法).A lot of this rubbish can be recycled, or turned back to something useful. The main things we recycle today are made of metal and paper.People recycle for many reasons. One of the main reasons is to protect resources (资源). Making new cans out of old ones means less aluminum (铝) is needed for new cans. This leads to a second reason people recycle: it saves energy. Recycling old aluminum cans take much less energy than making new aluminum. To make new aluminum, you need to mine metal ore (矿石) from the ground, remove it, and refine it, into a finished metal.Recycling also protects valuable land. By recycling, we produce less rubbish. That means fewer landfills are needed for dropping our rubbish. Because metals are some what costly to make, they are the world’s most recycled materials. About two-thirds of all steel (钢) is recycled.Almost all drink cans are made of aluminum. Americans recycle about one-third of their used aluminum cans. Empty cans are sent to special factories. There, they are cleaned, melted, and made into new pieces of aluminum.Americans use lots of paper — mostly in the form of newspapers, magazines, and cardboard boxes. In fact, paper takes up more space in landfills than any other material.Old paper can be cut and made are into new paper. Americans recycle a little more thanone-third of their paper rubbish. New papers are made from trees, each ton of recycled paper saves about 17 trees!14.You can most probably read the passage in ________.A.a science book B.a Chinese book C.a history book D.a geography book 15.Why do people recycle rubbish?A.To protect resources because it’s hard to make new resources.B.It can save energy, because the resources are limited (有限).C.To protect valuable land, because there is no place to bury rubbish.D.To protect resources, save energy and protect valuable land.16.Which of the following is RIGHT?A.People recycle paper from the trees. B.Papers take up less space in the landfills. C.Americans recycle a little more than 1/3 of their paper rubbish.D.To recycle paper can’t protect the environment.17.The main idea of the passage is ________A.To let us know it is a big job to deal with rubbish. He watched quite a lot of American NBA basketball games. Not only did he watch them, he spent much of his free time playing on the court too. Then came the final year of his middle school. All of his regular teammates stopped showing up on the court because they were simply too busy preparing for the high school entrance exam to play. He was, of course, under much stress himself, like everyone else. A good exam result meant a good high school; a mediocre(平庸的)score meant a mediocre school._________ However, he loved basketball so much that he still found time to play, this time with a group of guys who were said to have skipped classes(逃课)before. Some of his teachers started worrying about him. They asked his mother to go to school to let her know that Jack was hanging out with problem kids. When his mother returned home that day, she wanted to talk to Jack. Knowing the purpose of her visit to the school, Jack thought his mother would punish him for befriending those bad guys. To his surprise, his mother was not angry with him at all. You might find a tear-jerking tragedy (催人泪下的悲剧) is just the thing you need to brighten your day.A team of researchers at Ohio State University, US, has found sad movies can make people happier, Science Daily reported last month. Many people find tragedies make them realize how good their own lives are, the study showed.“People seem to use tragedies as a way to reflect on the important relationships in their own lives,” said Silvia Knobloch-Westerwick, leader of the study. “Tragic stories often focus on themes of eternal (永恒的) love, and this leads viewers to think about their loved ones and count their good and helpful things.”In the study, researchers gathered 361 college students and showed them the 2007 movie, Alonement. The movie is about two lovers who are separated (分离) and finally die during World War II. Before and after the movie, the students were asked questions measuring (衡量) how happy they were with their lives. Researchers also asked them before, after and three times during the movie to measure various emotions, including sadness.Researchers found that the sadder students felt while watching the movie, the more likely they were to think about real people they had close relationships with in life. This increased their happiness after watching the movie. Knobloch-Westerwick explained that negative (消极的) moods make people more thoughtful.“Positive (积极的) emotions show that everything is fine, you don’t have to worry, you don’t have to think about problems in your life,” she said. “But negative emotions, like sadness, make you think more critically about your situation. So seeing a tragic movie may make you sad, but that will make you to think more about your own close relationships and appreciate them more.”The link between watching a tragic story and feeling better has long been recognized. The ancient Greeks even had a word for the feeling of happiness after seeing something sad that led to the modern English word “catharsis (宣泄)”.The study also showed that relationships are a very important source of happiness in our lives, so it is no surprise that thinking about your loved ones makes you happier, researchers said. 22.Which of the following about the study of Ohio State University is NOT true? A.Students’ emotions are measured by asking questions.B.Only sadness is measured in the study.C.The study shows relationships are a source of happiness.D.Those who felt sadder when watching the movie were more likely to be happier after that. 23.Why are ancient Greeks mentioned in the passage?A.To introduce the meaning of the word “Catharsis”.B.To explain the importance of knowing how to become happier.C.To prove that they were of high intelligence and guessed its meaning.D.To tell readers the relationship between tragedies and happiness was found long ago. 24.From Knobloch-Westerwick’s explaination, we can learn that .A.seeing tragedies makes you more thoughtfulB.positive emotions make you think more about your relationshipsC.negative emotions show you have no need to think about your situationD.after seeing comedies, you will appreciate your close relationships more25.Which is the title of the passage?A.There is eternal love in the world B.Watching sad films may start smilesC.It’s useless to complain about life D.Comedies should make way for tragedies二、语法填空Never stop studyingMany students around the world have recently finished their classes before taking a holiday break. Most of my classmates stayed in Hawaii for college or went to schools on the West Coast, but I decided to broaden my horizons by attending Purdue University in Indiana. While there, I discovered I was a minority—something I had never experienced back home.Being a minority for the first time, I felt like an outsider. My ideas, interests and values were constantly considered not as important as my heritage. After sharing an alternate point of view, I would often hear: “What do you know? You’re from Hawaii.” These responses eventually made me less enthusiastic about telling peopl e where I was from; I had lost pride in my heritage. That summer I went home to work for a political non-profit in Honolulu, where I discovered a love for working on laws. Slowly, my pride in my heritage came back. I came to the realization that everyone is raised differently, and the people who had previously dismissed me were so focused on their ideas of where I camefrom—a remote, beautiful island—that they were ignorant of my culture and the value that other views and opinions can offer.I returned to Purdue with a newfound love for my background. I decided to share my culture with everyone I could and, after I did, I found people were more willing to hear my ideas. I changed my major to political science and decided I wanted to be a civil servant, with the goal of helping people of Asian American Pacific Islander backgrounds. I strongly believe if more AAPIs are given opportunities to expand their horizons by attending universities across America and the globe, the ignorance will go away and more voices will be heard.I’m still young and have much to learn, but I will always remain proud of my heritage. It has shaped the person I am today and will continue to do so for the rest of my life. I’ve also learned to be more tolerant and patient. Regardless of what I do professionally, I will make sure to provide a safe space for people to express their ideas and backgrounds without fear of being excluded.15.Why did the writer attend a university in Indiana?A.To get a better education. The article claimed that some pronunciations, which were previously considered to have been misread, are now deemed correct. They include the characters in well-known sentences from ancient poems. One example is by Du Mu from the Tang dy nasty. “I go by slanting stony path to the cold hill; Where rise white clouds, there appear cottages and bowers.”Many internet users disagreed with the changes. They argued that altering pronunciations would “change the rhyme of the sentences in poems, ru ining the beauty of Chinese literature”.According to CGTN, supporters of the change say “This is how language advances, and the pronunciations should adapt to the needs of society, rather than remain in the past.”An official from the Ministry of Education responded, saying that most of the so-called “new” pronunciations have not yet been confirmed. However, according to the fifth and sixth editions of the Modern Chinese Dictionary, quite a few pinyin spellings have already been changed: 呆板(dai, first tone, 原ai, second tone) and 确凿(zao, second tone, 原zuo, fourth tone)“In some sense, pronunciation is a choice between the most popular version and the version with the longest history,” professor Zhang Yiwu told China Daily.20.Many Chinese characters will change their ________ based on different contexts.A.structures B.meanings C.spellings D.pronunciations21.The article which was heatedly discussed talks about ________.A.some misread pronunciations are right nowB.Chinese characters can change their meanings in the contextsC.many false pronunciations in ChineseD.some well-known sentences in ancient poems22.Which is the correct translation of the underlined poems in the passage?A.曲径通幽处,禅房花木深。

We can’t live without love and we know what love is, but we don’t say only humans know what love is. Yes, it’s impossible for animals to do some things because of their physical body. However, sometimes some of them might be able to show us the love that we have forgotten on our “busy road”, just like the following story.
A dog, was knocked down by a car and died in the middle of a road. Later, another dog ran beside the body of the dead dog and he tried to wake his friend up using his legs. When his effort to wake up his friend failed, he tried to push his friend to the roadside. But his friend was too heavy for him to push.
Though the traffic was busy and dangerous, he would not want to go away from his friend, just standing beside his friend shouting and crying.
A lot of people saw this story and were very touched. Even a dog can show his loyalty(忠诚) and love to his friend, what can our humans do?
