高考英语二轮复习专题阅读理解精选1So long as teachers fail to distinguish between teaching and learning, they will continue to undertake to do for children that which only children can do for themselves. Teaching children to read is not passing reading on to them・ It is certainly not endless hours spent in activities about reading. Douglas insists that "reading cannot be taught directly and schools should stop trying to do the impossible^.Teaching and learning are two entirely different processes. They differ in kind and function. The function of teaching is to create the conditions and the climate that will make it possible for children to devise the most efficient system for teaching themselves to read. Teaching is also public activity. It can be seen and observed.Learning to read involves all that each individual does to make sense of the world of printed language. Almost all of it is private, for learning is an occupation of the mind, and that process is not open to public scrutiny. If teacher and learner roles are not interchangeable ,what then can be done through teaching that will aid the child in the quest (探索)for knowledge? Smith has one principal rule for all teaching instructions. "Make learning to read easy, which means making reading a meaningful, enjoyable and frequent experience for children."When the roles of teacher and learner are seen for what they are, and when both teacher and learner fulfill them appropriately, then much of the pressure and feeling of failure for both is eliminated. Learning to read is made easier when teachers create an environment where children are given the opportunity to solve the problem of leaning to read by reading.26.The problem with the reading course as mentioned in the first paragraph is that.A.it is one of the most difficult school coursesB.students spend endless hours in readingC.reading tasks are assigned with little guidanceD.too much time is spent in teaching about reading27.The teaching of reading will be successful if _______________ ・A.teachers can improve conditions at school for the studentsB.teachers can enable students to develop their own way of readingC.teachers can devise the most efficient system for readingD.teachers can make their teaching activities observable28.The underlined word “scrutiny” most probably means"_____________A.inquiryB. observationC. controlD. suspicion29.According to the passage, learning to read will no longer be a difficult task when ______________•A.children become highly motivatedB.teacher and learner roles are interchangeableC.teaching helps children in the search for knowledgeD.reading enriches children's experience30.The main idea of the passage is that ______________ .A.teachers should do as little as possible in helping students learn to readB.teachers should encourage students to read as widely as possibleC.reading ability is something acquired rather than taughtD.reading is more complicated that generally believed【答案与解析】26—30 DBBAC木文是一篇议论文,在对传统的阅读教学方式进行批判的同时,论述了作者自己阅读的教学观:阅读的教与学是两个完全不同的过程。

题组训练 10 说理议论+社会文化+应用广告+逸闻趣事A(2017·红桥区二模)In modern society there is a great deal of argument about competition. Some value it highly, believing that it is responsible for social progress and prosperity(繁荣).Others say that competition is bad, that it sets one person against another, and that it leads to unfriendly relationship between people.I have taught many children who held the belief that their self-worth relied on how well they performed at tennis and other skills. For them, playing well and winning are often live-and-death affairs. In their single-minded pursuit of success, the development of many other human qualities is sadly forgotten. However, while some seem to be lost in the desire to succeed, others take an opposite attitude. In a culture which only values the winner and pays no attention to the ordinary players, they strongly criticize competition.Among the most vocal are youngsters who have suffered under competitive pressures from their parents or society.Teaching these young people,I often observe in them a desire to fail. They seem to seek failure by not trying to win or achieve success.By not trying, they always have an excuse:“I may have lost, but it doesn’t matter because I really didn’t try.” What is not usually admitted by themselves is the belief that if they had really tried and lost, that would mean a lot.Such a loss would be a measure of their worth.Clearly, this belief is the same as that of true competitors who try to prove themselves. Both are based on the mistaken belief that one’s self-respect relies on how well one performs in comparison with others. Both are afraid of not being valued.Only as this basic and often troublesome fear begins to disappear can we discover a new meaning in competition.1.What does this passage mainly talk about?A.Competition helps to set up self-respect.B.Opinions about competition are different among people.C.Competition is harmful to personal quality development.D.Failures are necessary experience in competition.答案 B解析主旨大意题。

2014高考英语二轮阅读理解专题训练精品题(3)及答案阅读理解解读Expensive perfumes (香水) come in tiny bottles, but many hide a whale-sized secret. To perfect a particular smell, perfume-makers often use an ingredient that comes from sperm whales, called ambergris. But using ambergris, which helps a perfume last longer, is strongly opposed by many people who think itis wrong to kill whales just so we can smell sweet. Joerg Bohlmann is neither a perfumer nor a whale expert. He's a plant biologist at the University of British Columbia in Canada. But his discovery of a new plant gene (基因) might push whales out of the perfume business. The gene comes from fir trees, found throughout North America and commonly used as Christmas trees. The trees produce a chemical that canbe used in perfume in place of ambergris—but with_a_catch.“The r e's a problem that many people wouldn't consider. In the tree, the chemical is mixed with many others. That makes separation a challenge,” Bohlmann says. “It's like trying to isolate sugar from a biscuit.”This is where science becomes useful. When Bohlmann learned that fir trees produce the ambergris-like chemical, he decided to use his gene know-how to find the instructions for how to make the ambergris-substitute.Bohlmann found that gene and took it out of the tree cells. Then he did something that might sound strange to someone who doesn't work in genetics: Bohlmann put the gene from the tree into yeast (酵母) cells.Yeast may sound familiar because it's used to make things like bread, wineand beer. Biologists like to work with yeast because it easily adopts new genesand changes its features and behaviour. When Bohlmann put the fir tree geneinto the yeast, the yeast started making the same chemical that had been produced by the tree.来源:.Com]Perfumers pay big money for ambergris because it is a fixative, which means it holds a smell in place on a person's body.“Cheap perfumes smell good in the first hour or so and then everything is gone,” explains Bohlmann. “But expensive perfumes are much more stable.Their smell lasts much longer, for hours or even a day after you apply them.”The new chemical, made from the tree genes, can be used as a fixative, too.And using yeast to make it is far cheaper than acquiring ambergris.Bohlmann admits he never thought he'd get into the perfume business. Butnow, he says, producers have been calling to find out how to use his technology in new perfumes.文章大意:本文是一篇科普说明文。

阅读理解之逸闻趣事类(共3篇,限时23分钟)A(2013·哈尔滨高三联合考试)A 34-year-old mother has spoken of how she woke up thinking she was 15 years old and living in 1992.Naomi Jacobs, from Manchester, was convinced she was still a teenager. In her mind, John Major was Prime Minister and George Bush Sr. was running the White House. She also revealed how she screamed when a boy appeared and called her “Mum”.Mobile phones and e-mail were puzzling and Google, Facebook and YouTube sounded like made-up words, she said.Ms. Jacobs, who had no memory of the years, was told by doctors that she had Transient Global Amnesia (TGA). She has now written a book about the experience which happened in 2008.“I fell asleep in 1992 as a brave, very confident know-it-all 15-year-old, and woke up as a 32-year-old single mum living in a rented house,” Ms. Jacobs said. “The last thing I remember was falling asleep in my bed, dreaming about a boy in my class. When I woke up, I looked in the mirror and had the fright of my life when I saw an old woman with wrinkles staring back at me. Then a little boy appeared and started calling me Mum. That's when I started to scream. I didn't know who he was. I didn't think he was much younger than I was, and I certainly didn't remember giving birth to him. I began sobbing uncontrollably. I just wanted my mum. I couldn't get my head around going to bed one night and waking up in a different century.”TGA is a rare type of amnesia which can occur suddenly, affecting around three people per 100,000 each year. Fortunately, permanent memory loss is rare. Ms. Jacobs' memory started to return after eight weeks. Some people who often suffer from migraines (偏头痛) also appear to be more likely to have TGA. The cause of TGA is unknown. Some think that it may be caused by a temporary disruption of blood flow to parts of the brain involved in memory.语篇解读:本文是一篇记叙文。
