Step2 Introduction Step 3 Presentation 1 First, ask Ss in groups to make a list of community places within one mile of the school.
Write on the board: Where is the post office? Then, ask them to ask the question about all the places on their list.
Ask Ss for the phone number of the local post office. Write Yellow Pages and White Pages on the board. State the objective: Today we will scan directories like the Yellow Pages and White Pages for important information and phone numbers.
Ask Ss to open their books and ask the questions in the box and any others that might be helpful.
Go over the new words with them.

Allow Ss in groups to discuss the locations .Then discuss the places and people as a class.
(D)Read the index .
As a class, go over the index carefully with Ss. Ask them questions, What pages are the lawyers on ?To prepare Ss for the practice activity.
(E) Marie needs things at different locations in the community .Work in a group to write what she needs.
Make sure Ss understand how to do this activity .Then, they write a sentence about what Marie might need at the location.
(F) Study the directory with your classmates and teacher.
With the Ss, ask them questions related to what they Will have to do in the later exercise.
(G)Listen and practice the conversation.
(H) Cover the directory and listen to the conversations .
Play the recording three times and ask Ss to collaborate on the answers.
