ISBN, which stands for International Standard Book Number, is a unique identifier for books.It is consists of 13 digits, which are divided into five segments: three blocks of variable length and two blocks of fixed length.The first block is the group identifier, which indicates the country or region of publication.The second block is the publisher code, which identifies the publisher.The third block is the title identifier, which identifies the specific title.The fourth block is the check digit, which is used to verify the integrity of the ISBN.The fifth block is the supplementary identifier, which is used for special purposes, such as identifying a specific edition or printing of a book.
