You will have your lessons with different teachers i n different rooms. You will have homework for different subjec ts on different days, so make sure you get organized. Make s ure you have a copy of your school timetable written down so you know which rooms your classes are in and on which days you will have your different subjects.
Other points
If you’ve got an older brother or sister at the school, then ask t hem for advice.
Be yourself! It sounds simple, but people will know you much better if you just act naturally.

When young people in the United States gather for fun, there is a good chance that they will soon be dancing. If there are no musicians, they will play records. If there are no record s, someone is certain to have a radio. One way or another the re will be dancing.
The ways that boys and girls dance will often change every ye ar or two. You may hear them say that the very latest steps ar e ‘in’, while last year’s steps are ‘out’. Each boy and girl takes pride in learning newest things. They feel that this is important to remain popular with their friends.
Years ago the dances of young people were not very different
from those of their parents, but high school and college stude nts of today have created their own music and have invented t heir own dances, thanks to people like Chubby Checker, the Beatles, and Elvis Presley. These musicians helped to make popular an exciting new kind of music that people began to da nce to in a different way.
In the late 1950s Chubby Checker started a dance that he call ed the “twist.” The twist, like so many new dances, was lively, and people who performed it used a lot of energy. The word c hubby means “a little bit fat,” which is why this singer and dan cer called himself Chubby.
After demonstrating his new dance hundreds of times, howev er, Chubby was no longer chubby. This is one of the advantag es. Even if older people do not like the new dances, they must agree that people, get much more exercise from modern dan ces than they ever got from a waltz.

One day after school, I went to the teacher's office to see my teacher, but nobody was there. As I was about to leave, I noticed a piece of paper on the floor. I picked it up and saw the wor ds "FINAL-
TERM EXAMINATION" at the top. I put the paper into my school bag secretly and ran out of t he room.
After I came back home, I took out the paper quickly. It was the exam paper of my worst subj
ect,History. I felt excited. My heart beat fast. I took out my History book and started working o n the answer. I had never
answered any questions so seriously.
On the day of the History exam, I went into the exam hall confidently. When the paper was s ent to me, I dreamt of getting the highest mark in the whole grade and could not help smiling. "My History teacher always encouraged me to work hard and get better grades, but I let him down time and time again. This time I will
give him a big surprise," I thought.
When the teacher said we could start, I turned the paper over. To my surprise, all the q uestions
were different. Later I felt nervous. In the end, I almost left the paper undone. After the exam.
I ran to the
toilet, took out the paper and carefully read it from the top. Oh! It was last year's exam paper.
I read all the
questions but I hadn't read the date. This is a lesson in which I know I have to put my feet on the ground. I regretted doing such a silly thing. After that, I told my teacher the truth and I pr omised to be honest. From then on, I worked harder than ever before.

Are you frightened about moving up to senior high school?
It can be a new experience, but you shouldn’t worry. We’ve put together a guide on how to s urvive the first week.
You’re not alone
Remember everybody else in your year is in the same boat. They may not realize it, but they’re just as nervous as you are. Moving to senior high is an opportunity, not a problem. Things are different and all you need to do is be polite and learn the new rules.
Teachers are ready to help
If you’re unsure what to do or are worried about anything, then you had better ask for help. T eachers are probably the best people to turn to as they’re experienced in helping new studen ts. Some senior high schools also have a “friends system”. If your school has this, then you w ill be paired with an older student. They will look out for you and help you if you have any pro blems or questions.
All change
There are lots of differences between junior high school and senior high school. You’ll have a homework diary or a student planner. You will have your lessons with different teachers in different rooms. You will have homework for different subjects on different days, so make su re you get organized. Make sure you have a copy of your school timetable written down so y ou know which rooms your classes are in and on which days you will have your different subj ects.
Other points
If you’ve got an older brother or sister at the school, then ask them for advice.
Be yourself! It sounds simple, but people will know you much better if you just act naturally. Having early nights makes a difference and you’ll find it easier to get up in the morning!
