The dancer ’ s leftfoot is e legantly wrapped in her ballet shoe, tied to the ankle with a silk ribbon. The shoeless right foot, however, looks horribly different. Bruises and scars occupy every inch of her toes.〔36 words〕
I can only imagine the untold hardship the dancer must have endured for the endless hours of practice to look so glamorous on the stage. Likewise, behind every seemingly stunning success, there can be failures, disappointments, and embarrassments. When the whole world is crazy for JK Rowling ’Harrys Potter stories, rarely do people know it was after the books had been turned down 12 times by the publisher that they finally came out. Nothing is difficult to a willing heart. However, when we admire others ’success, we should remember it is not from nowhere.
I have imagined the dancer to be my friend. I will, instead of telling her how awesome her dancing is, ask her to take good care of herself, for health is the real elegance of life. 〔 130 words〕

People use more than one exclamation mark ( “ Soundsgood!!!) , and all caps ( “ GREAT
IDEA! 〞),and repetition of letters (“〕sooooinsocialtiredmedia〞. These are the three main ones
that show enthusiasm, according to Deborah Tannen, a professor at Georgetown University. It is
the same for the Chinese character 哈〔 ha) 〞,“which we use to represent laughter. We usually text
two, three or more of these characters to indicate how happy or amused we are. Using many of
these kinds of symbols and characters is clearly becoming a cultural phenomenon.
“ HEY STEVE! 〞 someone recently emailed me. Both my name and“ Hey〞were in caps, and all five sentences in the message ended with exclamation marks. At first glance I assumed the
message was a loved one writing from a plane that was going down. It turned out to be someone I
hardly knew, discussing minor household chores and thanking me for something that had taken no
effort on my part.
I hate it, that if we don ’put six exclamation marks in an email or text we sound like a 13-year-
old girl. But when used too much, the exclamation mark makes no sense to the receiver, losing its
intended meaning.

Today there goes a cultural phenomenon that people use many exclamation marks , caps and repeated letters or characters to express their strong emotions in social media. Some people support it while others don’ t.
Generally, I’ m totally in favor of this phenomenon. To begin with, using these symbols and repetition of letters or characters contribute to a better mutual communication among people, because it shows how close and concerned you are. Moreover, it can mirror the genuine sincerity while chatting with your friends or colleagues in social media because there is no need for you to be that formal, otherwise your emotions like enthusiasm and happiness would in a sense not be smoothly and fully expressed and accepted. Last but not least, we should be open to new expression to .keep up with fashion trends.
So it’ s quite safe to conclude thatthis phenomenon makes for an effective and sincere communication.
反对:
With people using many exclamation points, caps and repeated letters or characters to
express their strong emotions in social media, the public are divided into two opposite groups:
“ For 〞 and “ Against. 〞
I tend to take the“ Against〞side for three reasons. Firstly, using these symbols and repetition of letters or characters, senders may make it difficult for receivers to understand what they really
want to convey, especially when they are not very familiar with each other. Secondly, we will
definitely leave others an impression that we are so naive when communicating with others in this
way. Thirdly, it’ s a kind of offence to receivers especially on a very formal occasion because it is
not that widely accepted.
In short, not only will the practice cause misunderstandings among users, but it will even
sound a little bit offensive to the receivers.

Studying abroad is exciting but also challenging. One of the most common challenges
international students studying in the US face is "culture shock". Culture shock is feelmg of
disorientation( 迷惘 )many people feel when they experience an entirely new way of life You may occasionally feel confused, unsure and uncomfortable, and find it difficult to adjust
to the culture of your host country because people may hold different values and adopt new ways
of doing things, which seem strange to you. You may feel that everything has changed, including
you immediate support system of family and friends.
Remember that everything you're feeling is completely normal, and you are never alone. To
minimize the shock, you will probably want to keep in touch with family and friends back
home— but it is also important to identify new sources of support. There are always resources
available to you. If you find yourself struggling with culture shock, it might be a good idea to visit
your school's website and learn what kind of services they offer to international students who have

With the rapid development of the digital economy, we can basically do everything online–

39 app operators were ordered to stop excessive or illegal data collection practices, while 191 apps
were removed from online app stores. Police also arrested over 13,000 people suspected of illegally collecting, stealing or purchasing personal data.

While the digital economy brings us convenience, our personal information risks being illegally collected and abused. Fortunately, the people involved in the misuse of personal information were punished and new laws have been drafted.
When our personal information is leaked, our life, study, privacy and interest will be greatly affected. For example, many of us get annoyed by junk messages in our inbox, or phone calls from people we don’ t know. Worse still, some people’ s lives risk being endangered.
As to how to protect our personal information,I ’ d like to put forward two pieces of advice. First and foremost, the government must put protecting personal information high on its agenda and form a special agency to negotiate new laws to fight this crime. Additionally, citizens must enhance their awareness and be cautious when using apps that request personal information. Only by joint efforts can people’ s personal information be safeguarded and a harmonious society built.

Possible version 1 (支持 ):
Despite the imp rovement of our lives,“ hardship education〞in China still gains widespread recognition, yet it arouses different voices among the public as well according to a recent survey. As is known, hardship education refers to all kinds of activities including community service,
social practice, voluntary work and various sports, which allow teenagers to experience the
difficulties of life and society, thus contributing to their growth.
From my perspective, with the fast-paced development of our living standards, hardship
education has become more of a must for the contemporary youth. For one thing, challenging
activities in various forms guarantee teenagers access to building up their strength and developing
necessary surviving skills. For another, but for hardship education, teenagers could not enhance
their overall qualities such as courage and perseverance, sweeping away all the obstacles on the
way to success and better preparing themselves for the future.
To sum up, society, schools and families should attach great importance to hardship education
for all students.
江苏省各地2019—2020学年度高三英语试题汇编:书面表达(含答案)
Possible version 2 (反对 ):
Despite the improvement of our lives,“ hardship education〞in China still gains widespread recognition, yet it arouses different voices among the public as well according to a recent survey.
While I admit that hardship education is intended to cultivate desirable qualities such as
self-sufficiency and perseverance in students, the education process doesn ’necessarilyt involve
short-term physical ‘ hardship for’ students to undergo. Firstly, hardship education such as
experiencing life in poor areas usually lasts no longer than 2 weeks, which is too short to bear any
fruit. Secondly, teenagers are well aware of the fact that the hardship they are exposed to is divorced
from the life they lead in reality. Hence, the training becomes no more than a ceremony
and teenagers return to their routine unchanged. Thirdly, the word‘ hardship’ doesn’ t lo enough to appeal to teenagers. At this age, they are more willing to explore the world, to exhibit
their uniqueness and to unleash their creativity, thus activities like sports or self-organized trips
competition will be their cup of tea.
By and large, hardship education is a means to an end, and the means should be more diverse
to suit the teenagers’ needs.

请阅读下面这那么寓言,并按照要求用英语写一篇150 词左右的文章。
On a sunny day s shepherd(牧羊人 ) walked with his two hungry sheep along a winding
country path. He managed to have them two tied to each other just in case they should go separated.
It was quite a long time before they arrived at a place where there was merely a small amount of
fresh grass on each side of the path. Both of the sheep were so hungry that they hurried to the grass but in the separated direction as the picture showed. Unfortunately the rope fastening them was not long enough. No matter how hard they struggled, neither was able to reach the grass in front of them.
The shepherd was about to help them when he was surprised to find that one of them should voluntarily abandon the struggle, and went along with the other. Consequently, together the two sheep enjoyed the fresh grass on one side happily, and then the grass on the other.

One possible version:
The fable shares with readers a story about two sheep, both of whom choose cooperation rather than competition in order to have access to the fresh grass of different sides.
As a matter of fact, the fable mirrors that different at titudes may bring about different results. As an old saying goes, union means power. A chopstick breaks easily, while a bunch of them does not. Cooperation is therefore the best policy in any case because it can lead to a win-win situation, where both sides can gain benefit by virtue of joint efforts.
In my daily life, I often cooperate with my classmates when playing basketball,
taking part in running races or going in for community-service activities. I learn a lot from my classmates and friends by following their advice. Meanwhile, I also do my
part to help them in return. It is teamwork that helps us secure numerous victories.

left the tabl e for 30 minutes because he had to take a call. Some spent the dinner bent over their phones, texting friends online but ignoring the one who sat right in front of them. And the extraordinary thing is no one thought this was rude; it’ s just how life is nowadays.【写作内容】

Nowadays it is not uncommon to see people like Mark have this sensation— closely
associated with so many“ friends〞online, yet feeling remote from people around them.
Quite a few factors make for this phenomenon, of which the most notable one, I believe, is
people ’ s addiction to their smart phones, social media⋯in a word, the virtual world. By sharing and updating online, people seem to be most gratified to attract a great number of followers.
Meanwhile, they find little freshness in their surroundings. Thus, they are blind to and
withdraw from the people and things in real life.
As to Mark ’ s experience, I feel genuine sympathy for him. To get out of such a dilemma, I
would suggest that he cut down on his time spent online, so that he can hang out with his friends
more often. More importantly, step forward first to communicate with others when they are
deeply lost in the virtual world.

An old proverb says, "Overcome evil by doing good." I read the news and see people who behead〔将⋯⋯首〕others in the Middle East, abuse maids and domestic workers in Hong Kong, steal money and misuse power in government (no t only in China but in the U.S. and every other
part of the world), those who claim certain social ideals while privately practicing greed and living lifestyles that totally contradict their so-called 'ideals.' I only see the headlines and rarely read the stories. It is too depressing.
So, what do you do when there is so much evil in the world? What can YOU do about it?
There's only one thing that I know to do. I know (and feel it deep in my heart) to do good.
My way of overcoming evil in the world is too invest in the lives of Chinese children. I do this
every day. I love 'giving back'. I love taking the money I earn and investing back into the lives of children. I will create a language learning lab in a public high school's international department (I already bought four new computers for it this week). The students need the tools to work on their English exams and prepare for TOEFL, IELTS and the SA T. There's no provision for them to have such a resource right now, so, rather than complain about it not being done, I decided, 'why don't I do something about it.' I know that I can and just decided to do it. It isn't anything great, but it will make a difference in the lives of some.

书面表达
The author not only emphasizes that one should overcome evil by doing good by listing some evil things in society, but also tells us the good things that he has done and will do in the future. From my perspective, I firmly stand up for doing good. On one hand, doing good can help people acquiring (accumulate) merit which will make one end up being a man of good morality.
On the other hand, doing good can have a great power which can give others warmth, help them out when they are in trouble, which eventually shape our own great career. Furthermore, doing
good is just like a seed that can sow good and harvest hope, giving others hope, confidence and courage of life.
As for my future intention of doing good, firstly, I will strive to make money to assist those
who are in need of help, such as building homes for orphans and for the lonely elderly and donating money to Hope Project. Secondly, I would like to be a volunteer, doing voluntary work helping the poor areas and people.
In conclusion, as long as we each contribute a bit of love to others, our world will become a beautiful harmonious place.。
