Scenario 1: Booking air-ticket airA: I'd like to make a reservation to Los Angeles for next Monday. B: Just a second and I'll check the schedule. A: I'll need an economy ticket with an open return. B: United Airlines has a flight leaving at 9’o clock. 9’ A: I guess that's OK. What time should I check in? in? B: You have to be there half an hour before departure time. A: By the way, is this ticket refundable? B: It will charge you penalty for schedule change.

Scenario 6: Cinema and Theater
A: What’s the difference between a cinema and a theater? What’ B: Theaters are generally for live performances. A: Cinemas are for recorded shows. B: What are live performances? A: These are where there are people on the stage actually performing there and then. B: So what sort of performances can we expect? A: There can be acting of plays, you know, drama, comedy etc. B: Anything else? A: Sure, there can be musical performances by solo artists or by bands. B: Can I see classical concert at a theater? A: Yes, some theaters are used for that. B: Cinemas are different then? A: Yah, cinemas usually show movies. B: And these are not live. A: That’s right, they were recorded on film long before you see it in the That’ cinema. B: I don’t know which I prefer. don’ A: Perhaps they are equally as good as eachration
Scenario 4:Talking about games
A: How many games can you think of? B: Well, that depends on what kinds of games you mean. A: Any kind. B: Well, there are all kinds of sports. A: Like what? B: Like football, swimming, tennis etc. A: Yes. Those games are for outdoors. B: Sometimes swimming and tennis are not. A: You’re right, but what about indoor games? You’ B: Like table tennis, badminton and volleyball. A: Yes. But those need special places. B: What do you mean? A: Well, you can’t play them at home. can’ B: Oh, you mean games like chess, drafts and cards. A: Yeah, they are games too.

Scenario 7: Holiday
A: How often do you go on holidays? B: Do you mean to have a break from work or to travel? A: I mean to travel out of your area. B: Ah, well, that depends how much money I have to spend. A: What do you mean? B: Well, if I have a lot of money, I will go abroad, you know, to visit another country. B: And if not, then I will just go to the local beach, or visit some local places of interest. A: What sort of places would you visit locally on holiday? B: Sometimes I will visit friends or relatives, or perhaps I will go to visit museums, art galleries or ancient buildings. A: Anything else? B: Yes. I will go to the countryside and climb some mountains. What about you? A: Me? I always go abroad to see other countries and cultures. B: But that can be expensive counted. A: Not if you go to countries which are much cheaper than yours. B: Then your money can go much further.

Scenario 2: Talking about daily life
A: How do you usually spend your time? B: Well, I nearly always get up at dawn. I don’t like don’ sleeping in late. The days are longer in summer than in winter. I usually do some exercises at 7:15. A: What do you have for breakfast? B: I usually have cereal, but sometimes I cook a traditional English breakfast. A: That sounds nice. How do you spend your morning? B: I usually do housework during 9:00 to 10:30. I go shopping at 11:40. I always drive to the big supermarket in the city center. It takes about 20 minutes to drive there. A: How do you spend your afternoon? B: I usually meet some friends and we play sports together for 2.5 hours or I might spend some time alone on my hobbies. I spend winter evening watching TV, but I spend summer evening at cultural events if I have time.

Scenario 5: Talking about restaurant
A: I like restaurants. B: What kind of restaurants? A: For food, of course. B: Ah, but there are many kinds of restaurants. A: Like what? B: Well, there are fancy restaurants. A: You mean expensive ones? B: Yes. And there are cheap ones too. A: Like fast food restaurants. B: Well, yes. But not all cheap ones are fast food. A: Like McDonald’s and Kentucky Fried Chicken. McDonald’ B: We usually call that one KFC. A: What about Café’s? Are they restaurants? Café’s? B: Some are, if they serve food. A: But their menus are usually limited.

Scenario 3: Suggestion
A: Hi. Could you give me a hand with this report? B: Sure. I’d be happy to give you some hints and advice. A: Thanks. Would you mind taking a look at the layout? Do you think it’s appropriate? I want it to be formal, but not boring to look at. B: It looks good to me. I would suggest that you put the client’s logo and our logo on each page. The bosses seem to like that. A: That’s an excellent suggestion. I can easily do it on the computer. B: Why don’t you use a different font the headings? They’ll be more distinct. A: I’ll take that suggestion too. How about the content? B: I think you’ve included all the essential things. You might want to make the conclusion a little longer. Restate your reasons clearly. A: Is it ok to include the pictures? B: Definitely! I would include one or two on each page if possible. Remember that you should make the report as eye-catching as eyepossible. A: Thanks for those ideas. I’ll get to work on them right away.
