The Person I Admire and Why
There are many amazing people in this world who have done incredible things. From scientists who made ground-breaking discoveries to leaders who fought for freedom and equality, the list is endless. However, the person I admire the most is someone closer to home – my dad.
To me, my dad is the smartest, strongest, and bravest person I know. He's the one I run to when I need help with my homework, when I have a problem at school, or when I'm feeling sad. No matter what, he always listens patiently and finds a way to make me feel better.
One of the main reasons I admire my dad is because of how hard he works. Every morning, he wakes up before the sun rises to get ready for his job at the factory. He packs his lunch, kisses me and mom goodbye, and heads off to work. At the factory, he operates these huge machines that make car parts. It's a tough job that requires a lot of focus and physical strength.
Despite how tiring his work must be, my dad never complains. When he gets home in the evening, he helps my mom with chores around the house and plays with me in the backyard. On weekends, he always finds time to take me to the park or the zoo. He says spending time with family is the most important thing to him.
My dad's hard work and dedication aren't just for our family though. A few years ago, when our neighbor Mrs. Rodriguez fell ill, my dad stepped up to help without being asked. He mowed her lawn, took out her trash bins, and even did grocery shopping for her. When I asked him why he did so much for her, he simply said, "Because it's the right thing to do. We have to look out for each other in this community."
That's another reason I look up to my dad – his kindness and willingness to help others, even strangers. He taught me that no good deed is too small, and that we should treat everyone with respect, no matter their background or circumstances.
What I admire most about my dad, however, is his bravery. You see, he didn't always live in this country. He was born in a small village in Mexico, where his family didn't have much. When he was only sixteen years old, he made the incredibly difficult
decision to leave his home and cross the border into the United States in search of a better life.
I can't even imagine how scary that journey must have been. My dad had to travel hundreds of miles, mostly on foot, through deserts and over mountains. He faced extreme heat, hunger, and the constant fear of being caught and sent back. Yet he persevered, driven by his dream of creating opportunities for himself and, one day, having a family of his own.
Finally, after weeks of traveling, my dad made it across the border. He found work as a farmhand, picking fruits and vegetables for very little pay. He lived in cramped conditions with other migrant workers, saving every penny he could. Slowly but surely, he improved his English, got better jobs, and started building a life for himself in this new country.
Thinking about everything my dad went through – leaving his home as a teenager, making that dangerous trek across the border, working tirelessly to create a good life – fills me with admiration and pride. His courage, determination, and unwavering spirit in the face of adversity are an inspiration to me.
Whenever I feel afraid to try something new or want to give up because a challenge seems too difficult, I remember my dad's
journey. I think about the sacrifices he made and the obstacles he overcame, all to give his future family opportunities he never had. His example pushes me to be braver, work harder, and never take the comforts I enjoy for granted.
More than anything though, I admire my dad for the kind of person he is – a loving husband, a devoted father, a good neighbor, and a humble, hard-working man of principle. He didn't have much growing up, but he's created an abundant life for our family through his own efforts. Most importantly, he's passing down the values of compassion, integrity, and resilience that helped him succeed.
I know I'm still young with my whole life ahead of me. As I get older and face more challenges and important decisions, I hope to live up to the incredible example my dad has set. If I can be even half as caring, determined, and strong as he is, I'll consider myself a success.
So while world leaders, innovators, and famous figures have accomplished amazing feats, my greatest hero and the person I admire most walks a much more humble path. He's not a household name and his sacrifices and hard work may go unnoticed by many. But to me, my dad is a true superstar – a man of courage, kindness, and unshakeable perseverance. I am
who I am because of him, and I couldn't ask for a better role model.

The Person I Admire Most
There are many great people in this world who have accomplished amazing things. Some are famous scientists who made important discoveries. Others are brave heroes who saved many lives. A few are world leaders who brought peace to their countries. But the person I admire most is not a famous scientist, hero, or world leader. The person I admire most is my grandfather.
My grandfather's name is Robert Johnson, but everyone just calls him Bob. He is 78 years old with gray hair and wrinkly skin from spending so much time outside in the sun. Even though he's getting old, he is still strong and healthy because he exercises every day by going for long walks around our neighborhood. I really admire how active and fit he is at his age.
But the main reason I admire my grandfather so much is because of his kind heart and positive attitude towards life. No matter what challenges or difficulties he faces, he always stays
cheerful and optimistic. He taught me that having a good outlook can help you get through even the toughest situations.
I'll never forget the time a few years ago when my grandfather was diagnosed with cancer. It was a very scary moment for my whole family. We were all worried sick that we might lose him. But not once did I see my grandfather get upset or feel sorry for himself. He just smiled, gave us all a big hug, and said "Everything will be okay. I'm going to fight this with all I've got!" His bravery and positive spirit in such a difficult situation was truly inspiring.
For months, my grandfather had to go through rounds of chemotherapy and radiation treatment which made him feel very sick and weak at times. Still, he never complained, not even once! Whenever I visited him during his treatments, he would flash that big warm smile and cheerful wave that always made me feel better. Seeing how upbeat and determined he was despite everything he was going through taught me to never give up, no matter how tough things get.
Thankfully, after over a year of treatment, the doctors told us that my grandfather had beaten the cancer! We were all overjoyed, and threw a big celebration party for him. At the party, I remember my grandfather giving a speech about how grateful
he was for everyone's love and support to help get him through his battle. He said the positive thoughts and prayers from his family gave him the strength and courage to never lose hope during his difficult journey. His genuine appreciation and humble attitude, even after achieving such an incredible victory, only made me respect and admire him more.
But my grandfather's incredible spirit isn't just limited to overcoming his own personal challenges. He is always finding ways to help others and make the world a better place too. For the past 15 years, he has spent every Saturday morning volunteering at a local food bank, helping to hand out meals to hungry families in need. No matter how early he has to wake up or how bad the weather is outside, he never misses a Saturday at the food bank. His dedication to such an important cause is remarkable.
In his free time, my grandfather also enjoys getting together with other veterans from the military to share stories and memories from their time serving our country. Even though it's been over 50 years since he was in the Army, he still has so much pride for America and the sacrifices made by our troops to protect our freedom. Hearing him speak about his experiences in the military reminds me how fortunate I am to live in this great
nation thanks to heroes like him. His patriotism and appreciation for our way of life sets a great example that I hope to carry on.
Whenever I get stressed or frustrated about things, like having too much homework or not being very good at a sport or activity, I think about how my grandfather handled his cancer treatment. If he could stay so positive and determined while fighting for his life, then I have no excuse to get discouraged over little inconveniences like school assignments. His incredible resilience in the face of adversity is always motivating me to develop a tougher mental attitude.
Some kids look up to famous athletes, movie stars, or superheroes as their role models. While those people may be talented or have amazing abilities, to me true role models are the people who demonstrate qualities like integrity, selflessness, and an ability to inspire others through their actions. My grandfather embodies all of those qualities and more. His warm personality, humble spirit, and endless optimism make him the most admirable person in my eyes.
Not a day goes by where I don't feel grateful to have such an extraordinary person like my grandfather in my life. From battling life-threatening cancer to serving in the military to volunteering his time to help those in need, he has shown me
what it truly means to live a life of courage, generosity and positivity. He may not have won awards or made historic achievements, but to me and my family, the way he carries himself with such unwavering kindness and resilience makes him a real-life hero. I only hope that when I grow up, I can be half as amazing of a person as my grandfather is.

Here's an essay written from the perspective of an elementary school student about someone they admire, in around 2000 words:
Who I Admire and Why
There are many amazing people in this world who have done incredible things. Some have made important discoveries that changed how we understand the universe. Others have fought for justice and equality, helping make the world a better place. A few have even traveled to space and walked on the moon! While all of these people are truly inspiring, the person I admire most is someone much closer to home – my dad.
My dad may not be a famous scientist, activist, or astronaut, but to me, he is a real-life superhero. He works hard every single day to provide for our family and make sure we have everything
we need. Even after a long day at his job, he always finds time to help me with my homework, play games with me, and tuck me into bed at night. He never seems to get tired or grumpy, no matter how busy or stressful his day has been.
One of the things I admire most about my dad is his kindness towards others. He is always willing to lend a hand or offer a friendly smile, whether it's shoveling the elderly neighbor's driveway after a snowstorm or simply holding the door open for someone at the grocery store. My dad treats everyone with respect and never judges others based on how they look or where they come from.
He has taught me so many valuable lessons through his words and actions. Dad is the one who showed me the importance of being honest, even when it's difficult. He explained that telling the truth builds trust and that trust is the foundation of any meaningful relationship. I still remember the time I accidentally broke my mom's favorite vase while playing catch indoors. I was really scared to tell her, but Dad encouraged me to own up to my mistake. It wasn't easy, but Mom appreciated my honesty, and we were able to replace the vase together.
My dad has also instilled in me the value of working hard and never giving up, no matter how challenging the obstacle may seem. When I was learning how to ride my bike without training wheels, I got really frustrated after falling down multiple times. I wanted to just give up, but Dad wouldn't let me quit. He patiently ran alongside me, offering words of encouragement and advice, until I finally got the hang of it. That experience taught me that anything is possible with perseverance and a positive attitude.
In addition to being kind, honest, and hard-working, my dad possesses a great sense of humor that can brighten up any room. He's always cracking jokes and finding reasons to laugh, even during difficult times. Thanks to him, our house is filled with warmth, laughter, and lots of playful teasing. My friends enjoy coming over because they know they'll not only be welcomed with open arms but also entertained by my dad's funny stories and witty one-liners.
While my dad may not have accomplished ground-breaking scientific achievements or led historic social movements, his impact on my life and the lives of those around him is immeasurable. Through his quiet strength, unwavering morals, and unconditional love, he has shaped me into the person I am
today and continues to guide me toward becoming the best version of myself.
I know I'm lucky to have such an incredible role model and father figure in my life. Not everyone is as fortunate. Some kids don't have dads, or their dads aren't present in their lives for one reason or another. That's why I cherish every moment I get to spend with my dad, showing him how much I appreciate all the sacrifices he has made and continues to make for our family.
My dad is my real-life superhero – an ordinary man who does extraordinary things every single day through his simple acts of kindness, hard work, and love for his family. While he may not wear a flashy costume or possess superhuman abilities, he has incredible strength of character that is truly inspiring. I hope that someday I can be half the person he is and make as positive an impact on the world as he has. He may not be a famous celebrity or historical figure, but in my eyes, my dad is the greatest person who ever lived.。
