冀教版九年级英语上学期全册任务型阅读专练
任务阅读一
We are often told to pay attention to what our mothers tell us. Scientists have found that our brains greatly prefer the voices of our own mothers.
Scientists at Stanford University recently studied this. They scanned (扫描) chi ldren’s brains while they were listening to different sounds, including their mothers’ voices. They found that 97 percent of the time, children could recognize (识别) their mothers’ voices at once.
Hearing their mothers’ voices makes children’s brains more active. We usually just use one part of our brains to deal with sounds when we hear something. But when we hear our mothers’ voices, many parts of the brain start to work as well.
Why do we reply so strongly to our mothers’ voices? On one hand, when we ar e still in the womb (子宫) before we’re born, we hear our mothers talking. This makes us feel comfortable. On the other hand, mothers teach us talk and social skills by repeating words again and again. This way, when mother’s sound is heard again, more atten tion is paid to it.
Some sounds are necessary for our life and they bring us pleasure. But mothers’ voices are different and they make us feel comfortable. We will feel very relaxed when we hear our own mothers’ voices.

任务阅读二
Smartphones have really changed the way of communications. Smartphones are the most used communication tool today, whether it is for personal use or for work. Some people use their smartphones wisely while others use them almost all of the day which is very dangerous for their health. The suggestions below may help you reduce (减少) the harm they could do to your health.
When using your smartphone, try to keep it away from your body as much as possible. Don’ t put it on the bedside table when you go to sleep.
When you’re on the smart phone, use the speaker. In this way, you have just 1/100th of the contact (接触) with radiation (辐射) you have when you hold it to your ear. An earphone is also a good idea.
Try to keep your conversations short. If you need to talk longer, use an ordinary phone instead.
Change ears when you’re using your smartphone. Before putting it to your ear, wait until the
person you are calling picks up the phone.
Your phone gives out radiation when you talk or send messages, but not when you’re listening or getting messages. Listening more and talking less can lower the risk of health problems.
Do not use your smartphone when the signal (信号) is weak or when moving at a high speed, for example in a car or on a train. At high speeds your phone is trying to pick up signals, and this increases the radiation it gives out.

任务阅读三
When you hear “single-use”, you might think of something like chopsticks from fast food restaurants. You use them once, throw them away and forget about them. But when we forget about them, we also forget that we’re creating waste.
“Single-use” was chosen as Collins Dictionary’s “Word of the Year” for 2018. The idea of
single-use is not just about real objects that we can touch or see. It also includes the ways that we communicate.
On social media (社交媒体), we see pictures, news and articles everywhere. We look, laugh and keep scrolling (滚屏). We never look twice. This is called single-use media. It’s all about sharing the small things of our lives. For example, I know what restaurant all of my friends went to last night. However, I don’t know their deepest thoughts and feelings about serious problems. I don’t even know what their dinner tasted like. I look at their pictures and give them a “Like”. Then I “throw it away” and keep scrolling.
Social media nowadays makes it very easy for us to forget what we have lost. Before we use social media and send messages on the phone, we communicated by talking. We had to remember or write down important things. Many people also communicated by writing letters, which took time and energy. They had to think carefully about each sentence. People treasured (珍惜) and kept letters for years. A letter was serious. It’s a shared piece of the writer’s spirit.
On social media, we treat our friends and family like cheap chopsticks. It’s simple and efficient (有效率的)in use, but we don’t spend time sharing little pieces of our thoughts and feelings any more. 1题和2题完成句子题;3题简略回答问题,4找出并写下第四段的主题句,5题将文中划线句子译成汉语。
