Learning Goals
Learn some meeting etiquette, customs and views on time. Use be supposed to……and should to make the students know what they should and shouldn’t do. Learn to respect different cultures, develop good habits and cultivate students' interest in learning.

Teaching steps (教学步骤)
Step1 Warming up
T: As a student, what are \aren’t you supposed to do in studies and life? Work in groups.
Then ask some groups to report.
Eg. Group1: We are supposed to study hard.
We aren’t supposed to watch TV too much.
Group2: We are supposed to do our homework carefully.
We aren’t supposed to waste time.

Step2 Leading in热身导入
Show Ss some pictures.
T: Different places have different customs in our country during the Spring Festival. Do you know the other customs? Please tell us.
Eg. Eat dumplings, stick grilles ……
T: Well done. Different countries also have different customs.
Eg.
I’m full. (in China)I’m hungry. (in America)
Now, tell us:
When you meet someone for the first time, what should you do?
Help Ss answer: You’re supposed to shake hands.
Ask Ss to work in pairs like this:
A:In your country, what are you supposed to do when you meet someone for the first time?
B: You’re supposed to shake hands.

Step3 Presentation
Show Ss a map of the world.
★Use it to review the names of some countries in the world. For example, Japan 、Korea 、Brazil 、Mexico、the United States……
★T: Do you know what people do in these countries when they meet for the first time? S1: They are supposed to bow in Korea when they meet for the first time.
S2: They are supposed to kiss in Brazil when they meet for the first time.
……
T: Good! Now, match the countries with the customs using the pictures in 1a.
★Listen to the tape and check the answers in activity 1a.

★Pairwork
T: Can you say other countries that people there kiss when they meet for the first time? For example: France, Canada, England …
Now, work in pairs to talk about what people in different countries do when they meet for the first time.
Then ask some pairs to present their conversations.

Step4 Listening
T: When you are invited to a party, you must know what you are supposed to do. Or you may make mistakes in some etiquette and feel embarrassed. Let’s come to 2a. Look at the picture. Maria is an exchange student. Last night she had dinner at an American friend’s house. What happened to her? Listen to the tape.

亮点:本节课的听说课训练,灵活的教学方法,由易到难、由浅入深,使听说的不断深入,逐渐实现向技能的掌握。
课堂教学中以学生为主体,学生很大程度上能参与到课堂中来,成为课堂的主人,充分调动了学生的积极性,取得了良好的教学效果。
不足之处:本节课在教学环节不十分紧凑,须进一步完善。
教学建议:
听说训练设计要符合学生的知识水平,难易适度.因此,教师有必要根据学生的实际知识水平设计问题,这样才有利于学生学习兴趣的培养和思维能力的提高。
