As the pace of life continues to increase, we are fast losing the art of relaxation.Once you are in the habit of rushing through lift, being on the go from looming till night, it is hard to slow down. But relaxation is essential for a healthy mind and body.
Stress is a natural part of everyday life and there is no way to avoid it.In fact, it is not the bad thing it is often supposed to be.A certain amount of stress is vital to provide motivation and give purpose to life.It is only when the stress gets out of control that it can lead to poor performance and ill health.
The amount of stress a person can stand depends very much on the individual. Some people are not afraid of stress, and such characters are obviously prime material for managerial responsibilities.Others lose heart at the first signs of unusual difficulties. When exposed to stress, in whatever form, we react both chemically and physically. In fact we make a choice between "fight" or "flight", and in more primitive days the choice made the difference between life or death. The crises we meet today are unlikely to be so extreme, but however little the stress is, it involves the same response. It is when such a reaction lasts long, through continued exposure to stress, that health becomes endangered.Such serious conditions as high blood pressure and heart disease have established links with stress.Since we cannot remove stress from our lives (it would be unwise to do so, even if we could we need to find ways to deal with it.

Hearing aids today are so small that sometimes you cannot even see them. They can even be part of the frames of a person's glasses. These hearing aids work very much like transistor radios, powered by very tiny batteries. The hearing aid is a wonderful invention that can help a deaf person to hear again.Soon it will be as common for people to wear hearing aids to help them to hear as it is for people to wear glasses to help them to see.
At one time, there was a shame attached to wearing a hearing aid.But this was once true of glasses, too.Today three out of every ten school children wear glasses, and many more people wear glasses as they grow older. The hearing aids is becoming equally well-accepted, for modern hearing aids are wonderfully efficient, available in many styles, and can be fitted to help almost all types of hearing losses.
Hearing aids come in two basic types: air conduction, worn directly in the ear, transmitting (传送)vibrations (振动)through the eardrum (耳鼓), and bone conduction, which transmit vibrations through the mastoid(乳头状的)bone behind the ear directly to the nerve endings of inner ear.The discovery of a new electronic miracle, known as the transistor, has made it possible to produce hearing aids so small and
so light that they can be worn directly in the outer ear or in the frames of eyeglasses.Children under five will accept and use a hearing aid eagerly, for it is like a toy to them.If a child has hearing difficulties, parents should act immediately, in accordance with the child's needs.66.What does the passage mainly talk about?

Post—holiday blood shortages are nothing new to hospitals. But last week, physician James Devitt at Miami Valley Hospital saw disaster appearing. For the first time ever, he called- surgeons at home and urged them to postpone all nonemergency surgeries requiring large amounts of blood.By the time he finished dialing, Devitt had persuaded surgeons to reschedule at least 14 operations. Not that he was pleased by the delays." If we don't get some of these surgeries done soon," Devitt says, "they could become emergencies."
Miami Valley Hospital wasn't alone.Facing a national blood shortage, physicians in Atlanta, Pittsburgh, New York, Baltimore, and Washington moved to postpone nonemergency surgeries."We've never seen cancellations of surgeries like this," says Melissa Macmilian, spokesperson for America's Blood Centers (ABC )."It's absolutely the last way."
The blood shortage was so worrying that about half of all U.S.blood banks carried less than a one-day supply.Normally, they store three days' worth.Suppliers need the extra red cells on hand for emergencies like car accidents—one severely injured patient can quickly wipe out a hospital's entire blood supply.
This month's crippling (有严重后果的)blood shortage is worse than usual because winter storms forced cancellations of blood drives in the Midwest, considered America's "blood basket".Blood providers like ABC and the Red Cross count on that region to supply the rest of the country during normal shortages. But last week, icy roads kept donors away from blood banks, while school and workplace closings forced blood-drive organizations to cancel events.Blood industry experts say the long-term outlook is hopeless.Hospitals need more blood to treat an aging population, and donations aren't keeping pace.Only 5 % of those suitable donate, and even fewer people plan to give this year, according to a recent Harris Poll. The members of the most loyal donors, the World War II generation, are thinning. For the most part, the mid-aged say they are too busy, and young
people are indifferent.
71.Dr.Devitt's remarks in Paragraph 1 serves to____.

A.Blood price is higher because of the blood shortage.
B.One patient has used up a hospital's entire blood supply.
C.Red cells are usually more available than some other drugs.
D.Many suppliers are facing a marked shortage of blood stock.
74.What is said about the Midwest?
A.A severe draught hit the area this month.
B.Blood donation mainly comes from this area.
C.Blood drives forced school and workplace closings.
D.Donors there were organized to drive to the rest of the country.
75.Which of the following statements is NOT true?

Why does night fall but never break and day break but never fall?
Why are people who ride motorcycles called bikers and people who ride bikes called cyclists?
In what other language do people drive in a parkway and park in a driveway?
In what other language do they call the third hand on the clock the second hand?
Let's face it: English is a crazy language. There is no egg in an eggplant, neither pine nor apple in a pineapple and no ham in a hamburger.Sweet-meats are candy, while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat.
We take English for granted. But when we explore its paradoxes (矛盾), we find that quicksand can work slowly, boxing rings are square, public bathrooms have no baths in them. And why is it that a writer writes, but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce, and hammers don't ham? If the plural of tooth is teeth, shouldn't the plural of booth be beeth? One goose, two
geese—so one moose, two meese?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? How can overlook and oversee be opposites, while quite a lot and quite a few are alike? How can the weather be hot as hell one day and cold as hell the next?
English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of human beings. That's why, when stars are out,_____________; but when the lights are out, they are invisible. And why, when I wind up my watch, I start it; but when I wind up this essay, I end it.76.What's the main idea of the passage ? (no more than 8 words)
77.Complete the following statement with proper words.(no more than 5 words). When someone says you will have a fat chance to win the game, it means that there will
for you to beat your opponent.78.Please fill in the blank in the last paragraph with proper words or phrases to complete the sentence.
(no more than 4 words)
79.What can we probably realize if we explore the paradoxes of English?(no more than 10 words)
80.What does the underlined word "them" probably refer to? (no more than 3 words)
