大学生在校园里养宠物利弊英语作文Pets At College? The Big Questions!
Hi there! My name is Emily and I'm going to tell you all about whether kids at university should be allowed to have pets or not. It's a really big deal and people have lots of different thoughts about it. Let me share what I think!
First off, I think pets are just the best. I have a dog named Rufus and he's my very best friend in the whole wide world. Rufus wakes me up by licking my face in the morning, which even though it's a little gross, it's also really really cute. And when I get home from school, he's sooooo excited to see me and we play fetch for hours. Pets make you feel happy and loved.
But I can understand why some people might not want pets at college. Dorms and apartments are small, so a big loud dog might bother the neighbors. And some people are allergic to animals which could make them sick. Plus, taking care of a pet is a huge responsibility that takes a lot of time and work.
However, I think the good things about pets outweigh the bad. Studies even show that kids who have pets do better at school! Pets help kids stay active by walking the dog or playing. They teach responsibility from feeding and cleaning up after
them. And most importantly, pets are wonderful friends that make you feel happy and less lonely.
College can be a super stressful time, with tough classes, being away from family, and trying to make new friends. A pet would be like a miniature therapist that could always cheer you up when you're feeling sad or overwhelmed. Cuddling a soft furry animal has been proven to lower blood pressure and make you relax. I know I always feel calmer after playing with Rufus.
That said, maybe not every pet would be okay at college. Huge loud dogs that bark a ton probably wouldn't work well in the dorms. But what about smaller quieter pets like cats, bunnies, hamsters, or fish? Those could be perfect study buddies that don't take up too much space. As long as the pets are calm and their owners clean up after them, I don't see any major problems.
Another amazing benefit of pets at college is they could help make campuses feel more like home. Dorms are pretty plain and boring, but having a cute little furball running around would brighten everything up. I know I always feel happiest at home when I'm snuggling Rufus. Pets provide unconditional love, which is something every kid needs to get through all those late nights of studying and stressing over grades.
Since college is preparing us to be grown-up adults, maybe having a pet would give great practice for when we eventually get jobs and have our own houses. We'd learn all the responsibilities of taking care of a pet's needs, while also getting the awesome happy benefits of bonding with a furry friend. Getting a pet could be an important life step towards independence!
Now let me think of some rules that should definitely be in place if pets do become allowed on college grounds. Number one for sure is that every single pet must be potty trained! No pets should be pooping or peeing all over and making stinky smelly messes. Only the most well-behaved, trained pets would be okay.
Pets would also need to be up-to-date on all their vaccinations to make sure they don't spread any animal sicknesses to people. Probably there should be a rule about having to clean your pet's cage or litter box daily to keep everything sanitary. Maybe pets would need special licenses or registration to be brought on campus, so there's a way to keep track of them all.
Anyone who doesn't treat their pet perfectly or lets them bother others would get it taken away. Loud barky dogs or cats
that scratch up furniture wouldn't be allowed to stay. There's no way college campuses should turn into zoos or animal shelters!
I guess my biggest worry would be what happens to the pets during long breaks like summer vacation? A lot of college kids go home to their families for months at a time. You couldn't just leave a dog or cat alone in a dorm room with no one to take care of it! That would be so cruel! Maybe the solution could be special pet hotels or boarding places on campus that owners could pay to have staff look after their animals when away. Or pet-sitting swaps where friends take turns watching each other's pets. There would definitely need to be good solid plans in place.
Overall though, I really do think pets at college could be an amazing experience, despite the challenges. For animal-loving kids who can handle the work, a pet could make their college years so much more fun and delightful. I know if I was away at university, having a cuddly little Rufus there with me would make everything seem so much less scary and intimidating.
So in conclusion, I'm strongly in favor of pets being allowed for responsible owners on college campuses. Pets provide great emotional support and lessons on caring for others. They promote activity, lower stress, and bring so much happiness. As long as there are rules to make sure pets and people are safe and
happy, I think it could be an awesome policy! Kids who want pets should do chores to prove they're ready for the work, and get special petcare training first. But I really do believe the love and joy a pet can bring is worth every bit of effort.
