Would you like to orbit(环绕轨道运行) the Earth inside the International Space Station? Now you can take a space holiday for a price. This is due to a decision by top space officials in the United States, Russia, Canada, Japan and the European Space Agency.
Last April, American businessman Dennis Tito reportedly paid between twelve million and twenty million dollars to spend one week on the International Space Station. NASA didn’t agree with the Russian plan to send a civilian(平民)to the costly research vehicle. But after talking about it for two years, space officials have agreed on a way to train private citizens so that they can take trips to the International Space Station.
NASA recently agreed to conditions that will permit Russia to sell trips to the space station. The trips are planned by an American company called Space Adventures Limited of Arlington, Virginia. The company calls itself “the world’s leading space tourism company”. The company has already sold a space trip to Mark Shuttleworth, a South African businessman. In April, Mister Shuttleworth will be launched into space from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.
Experts say that the new decision by NASA shows a new desire to use space vehicles for business and industrial purposes. In a speech to Congress last year, NASA official Michael Hawes said that the space agency did not have civilian travel as one of the industries it wanted to develop, however, Mister Hawes said that private space travel could now be done as long as safety measures are observed carefully.

American scientists have found that some birds are more intelligent than experts had believed. The scientists say that birds have abilities that involve communication and different kinds of memory. In some unusual cases, their abilities seem better than those of humans. The findings were presented at the yearly meeting
of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. The scientists met for six days last month in Boston, Massachusetts.
Irene Pepperberg presented her research about a Grey parrot named Griffin. He lives
in her laboratory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. Mizz Pepperberg says that Griffin can arrange objects in order of size. She says that the talking bird also can combine words in the right order. For example, he will combine words when asking for a piece of food.
The researcher says that experts had thought only humans and other mammals with
large brains have the ability to combine objects and words. She believes that bird brains have the ability to understand that complex tasks must be done in the correct order.
Some birds have other memory skills, too. ________, they collect and store thousands of seeds in autumn, and find them later in winter.
Alan Kamil and Alan Bond of the University of Nebraska are studying the memories of birds called jays and nutcrackers. Their experiments suggest that these birds use natural objects to find the seeds they have stored. They found that the birds use at least three objects, such as rocks or trees, to find the stored seeds.

阅读下面短文,并根据文章后的题目要求进行简答。

One of the difficulties of being shy is that it is very often impossible to hide your shyness from other people. Signs of shyness include frequent trouble talking, stammering(结巴), blushing, shaking and sweaty hands. When these things start to happen, the shy person often becomes more upset and less able to deal with the conversation or situation. Please keep in mind that these things happen to everyone sometimes. We all get nervous in new situations and when we think more about the nervousness, _____________.
Many shy people have both inward(内部的)and outward signs of shyness, however, some people can look confident on the outside, but feel miserable on the inside. These people look very self-assured on the outside. But inside they have constant thoughts about how the conversation is going, how they look, if the other people in the room like them, and how quickly they can leave the situation and go home.
Some research shows that shyness is a result of genetics (you’re born that way) and other research points to the environment (how you’re raised). Since no one really knows what causes shyness, it’s probably best to focus your time and energy on learning how to like yourself and celebrate who you are rather than worry about how your shyness is giving you trouble.
1. What is the best title of the passage?
2. Please fill in the blank in the first paragraph with proper words or phrases to complete the sentence.
