There are more than 100 beaches and lots of national parks and museums in Sydney, and the best part is: they are all mostly free. When people are not out in the surf, swimming in an ocean pool, or sailing around the harbour, they are barbecuing, picnicking, visiting museums, or finding other ways to enjoy the city.
The Centennial Parklands includes 200 hectares (公顷)of ponds, playgrounds, and gardens. It is a great place to enjoy Sydney’s birdlife. On a warm summer evening, people can meet thousands of different birds. The Cockatoo is the largest and most colorful of the Sydney harbour islands. It was originally an Aboriginal (土著的)fishing ground, and later the biggest British prison out of England. Today, there are walking tours and several outstanding events.
