A lot of surfing leads to children ignore their study.亦或是:She failed her exam because of she was in love with a bad boy.1,后只跟短语的词语原因在前结果在后词语后跟结果的:cause, lead to, result in, give rise to, bring about, give cause for, induce to(此词后加好的结果)…结果在前原因在后词语后跟原因的:because of, be due to, owing to, thanks to, stem from, as a result of, in the light of,on account of, in view of, in consideration of…2,后可跟句子的词语because, as, for, since, the reason why, considering that, seeing that, inasmuch as,forasmuch as, as a result(+结果)…

(Because of You歌词)Because of you, I never stray too far from the sidewalk. Because of you, I learned to play on the safe side so I don’t get hurt. 这里如果要用because,就写成:Because you are here, I never stray too far from the sidewalk.2, 看个复杂一点的:For the moon never beams without bringing me dreams of the beautiful Annabel Lee. (Annabel Lee)以for引导的是一个句子。

支付条款之Net30Days

支付条款之Net30Days

HiIf you state your payment terms as Net 10 or Net 30 you should expect to receive your payment within the 10 days or within 30 days from the date of invoice - same principle whether, BACS or cheque - it should be recieved by you within that timeframe. The days are actual days irrespective of weekends, bank hols etceg: Net 30 = your invoice date: 10th April 2007 / your payment is due by: 10th May 2007It gets slightly more complicated if you introduce discounts for early payment etc but my favourite is payment terms "end of month following month of invoice" !! (I receive an invoice dated 1st April but don't have to pay it till the very end of May...fab!)Hope this helps.brighton_belle1. Payment T erms: Net 30 days from invoice date. All payments will be made in U.S. Dollars.Prompt payment discountTrade Discount:Deduction in price given by the wholesaler/manufacturer to the retailer at the list price or catalogue price. Cash Discount:Reduction in price given by the creditor to the debitor is known as cash discount. This discount is intended to speed payment and thereby provide liquidity to the firm. They are sometimes used as a promotional device.[edit]Examples2/10 net 30 - this means the buyer must pay within 30 days of the invoice date, but will receive a 2% discount if they pay within 10 days of the invoice date.3/7 EOM - this means the buyer will receive a cash discount of 3% if the bill is paid within 7 days after the end of the month indicated on the invoice date. If an invoice is received on or before the 25th day of the month, payment is due on the 7th day of the next calendar month. If a proper invoice is received after the 25th day of the month, payment is due on the 7th day of the second calendar month.3/7 EOM net 30 - this means the buyer must pay within 30 days of the invoice date, but will receive a 3% discount if they pay within 7 days after the end of the month indicated on the invoice date. If an invoice is received on or before the 25th day of the month, payment is due on the 7th day of the next calendar month. If a proper invoice is received after the 25th day of the month, payment is due on the 7th day of the second calendar month.2/15 net 40 ROG - this means the buyer must pay within 40 days of receipt of goods, but will receive a 2% discount if paid in 15 days of the invoice date. (ROG is short for "Receipt of goods.")Invoice payment termsNet 30 Definition¶What is 2% 10 net 30? Or 1% 10 net 30? The credit terms 2% 10 net 30 means the customer gets a 2% discount if the bill is paid within 10 days. Otherwise, the full amount of the bill is due in 30 days. Net 30 credit terms represent incentive discounts that suppliers offer to encourage buyers to pay promptly. When a product is sold on credit, the supplier delivers the product to the buyer and the buyer agrees to pay for it later. Additionally, net 30 credit terms means 30 days before a penalty for late payment is accrued. It is a mainstay in business to business sales.Net 30 Credit T erms Explanation¶For those who have just heard about net 30, explanations are needed to understand why it is so commonly used. Net 30 payment terms, with a discount for early payment, induce the buyer to pay earlier. According to the net 30 definition, the total amount of the bill is due in thirty days, but if the buyer pays earlier, the buyer will get a discount of 1% or 2% of the bill, depending on the net 30 payment terms.Credit SalesT o understand 2 percent 10 net 30 payment terms requires an initial understanding of credit sales. Sales made on credit are essentially like offering an interest-free loan to the customer. In this sense, it represents a cost to the seller and motivates the seller to try to collect receivables as soon as possible. It also represents a benefit to the customer, who is motivated to postpone payment as long as possible. When a customer can hold onto cash it owes to a supplier, the customer is benefiting from an interest-free loan from the supplier via the credit sale. Net 30 vendors bridge the gap between the benefits of trade credit and the disadvantages of slow AR turnover.Average Collection PeriodThe average length of time it takes a company to collect payment for credit sales from customers is called the average collection period. A shorter collection period shows a company that is able to collect its receivables quicker and thereby reduce the implied cost or opportunity cost of the interest-free loan to the customer. On the other hand, a company that has a comparatively long average collection period is clearly having trouble collecting payments from customers and this could be a sign of inefficient operations. 2% 10 net 30 days can be one of the many solutions to alleviate this problem.Net 30 Credit T erms CalculationFor net 30, calculators are not necessary when you understand how the system works. If the buyer decides not to take advantage of the 2% discount by paying within ten days, the buyer is essentially paying 2% interest for the benefit of holding onto the cash for 20 more days. When considered in this way, the buyer’s cost of foregoing the discount amounts to about 36.5% per year. This is because the buyer is essentially paying 2% interest on a 20 day loan; there are 18.25 twenty-day periods in a year; so 18.25 multiplied by 2% equals 36.5% per year (36.5% = 2% x (365/20) . Likewise, by foregoing the 1% discount offered for payment within 10 days is costing the buyer 18.25% per year.36.5% = 2% x (365/20)18.25% =1% x (365/20)So, even if the customer doesn’t have the cash on hand to pay the bill within the 10 day window, as long as the customer can obtain cash for a borrowing cost less than 36.5% (for a 2% discount) or 18.25% (for a 1% discount), that customer would be better off borrowing the money to pay the bill early so as to benefit from the discount offered by the credit terms.Net 30 Credit T erms: ExampleWhen thinking about the 2% 10 net 30 meaning, an example provides perspective into the idea. Let’s say a manufacturer sells widgets to a retailer for $1,000 and the manufacturer offers the retailer credit terms 2% 10 net 30. The retailer can get a 2% discount on the total bill if it is paid within ten days. In this case, the total net 30 invoice, after the discount, would be $980 and the retailer would save $20.$980 = $1,000 – (2% x $1,000)If the retailer foregoes the discount, the full amount of $1,000 will be due at the end of the thirty day period. In this case, the retailer essentially paid (or gave up) $20 in order to postpone payment for 20 days. Hypothetically speaking, if the retailer were to pay $20 dollars in order to postpone payment for every 20 day period in a year, then that would amount to a total yearly cost of $365 ($365 = $20 x (365/20)). Under most circumstances, when offered credit terms 2% 10 net 30, it is in the customer’s best interest to take advantage of the discount and to pay early. Net 30 accounts provide benefit to both the vendor and client.。

Well, for me, there is an elephant in the room. The elephant in the room that for me is not hypothetical. I have been fighting pancreatic cancer. The pancreatic cancer is spread to my liver and there are approximately a dozen tumors. I don't like this. I have three little kids. Let's be clear, this stinks. But I don't choose to be an object of pity and in fact, although I am going to die soon, I am actually physically very strong. Implied

Implied

Title: Implied [a sequel to Hypothetically Speaking]Continuity: DCUCharacters/Pairings: Clark/BruceRating: GGenre: Shameless fluff.Warnings: NoneSpoilers: NoneDisclaimer: These aren't my toys. I just borrowed them.Length: ~780 wordsSummary: "We're here, aren't we?"For jij - just because. :)=:=:=Author's Note: Once upon a time, I swore I could never write anything like this. Ever!I guess it was just a question of finding the right pairing to make it work, because I still cringe at the idea of writing other pairings in this setting, and yet with these two, it was almost...natural.There, uh, might be another sequel. :cough:=:=:=They'd landed at the Fortress quite some time ago already, and Clark was now wondering why they'd come. Bruce had started on a grand tour of the place, and it didn't look like he'd be done anytime soon.It was as much like him to do this as it was completely unlike him... Bruce always inspected everything - he had to know, had to see, had to make sure that everything was in order. But in doing this, he was delaying things, which really wasn't in his habit much. Bruce - or rather, Batman - was normally very straight and to the point, but right now, he was neither of these things.Clark's confusion was now bordering on annoyance. "Wasn't there something you meant to ask me?" he inquired, after debating for a long moment whether or not to voice the question.Bruce raised an eyebrow. "I thought it was implied," he said, very matter-of-factly. "We're here, aren't we?"Mouth gaping, Clark stared at him in disbelief. He couldn't think of a thing to say. Implied. It was implied. Granted he knew that he shouldn't expect Bruce to dropdown on one knee or anything - it would have been foolish to even imagine such a thing from Batman- but... implied? That was almost as bad as being taken for granted."Fine," Clark said, his shoulders slumping, before he turned and started back in the direction of the main hall."Actually, I do have a question for you," Bruce called after him after a moment's reflection.Clark turned again, a smile spreading across his lips.Frowning, Bruce said, "Isn't there a way to turn the heat up in this place? It's colder than a meat freezer."Clark's smile died immediately. "I'll see what I can do," he muttered, walking away.=+=+=+=Clark had been standing in front of the main console, rearranging crystals for a good few minutes, trying to get the damned thing to produce some manner of heating, when he was suddenly aware of a presence behind him.He was about to complain about Bruce's nasty habit of sneaking up on him - he was the only person who could successfully achieve it, and he enjoyed doing so as often as he could - but Clark didn't get a chance to get a word out.Chin resting on Clark's shoulder, Bruce slid one arm around his chest. In Bruce's hand was a small, black, velvety box, inside of which was a pair of antique-looking diamond-incrusted silver cufflinks."Will you marry me?" Bruce whispered to Clark's ear, his heart now pounding so hard in his chest it was drowning out the words. The crystal Clark had just pulled out of the panel slipped from his hand and dropped back into its enclave with a glassy clunk. For a long moment, he stood rooted in place, his hand still hovering above the array of crystals in front of him. This pletely unexpected. Especially after the whole implied debacle from earlier.Growing nervous at the lack of response, Bruce tilted the box in his hand and said, "I didn't figure you'd want to wear a diamond solitaire engagement ring." There was a half-chuckle and he added, "I thought these would be more appropriate. They were my father's..."Very nearly trembling, Clark just stammered, "I-- I can't--"Bruce's arm fell limply to his side, the box closing with a loud thunk. He took a step back, frowning, confused. In a heartbeat, Clark had turned to face him, eyes wide in panic. He grabbed Bruce's hand - the one still holding the black box - and held it tightly. "No," he said, "I meant-- That's not it. I meant the cufflinks. I couldn't...""Nonsense!" Bruce objected immediately. "Besides, I can't think of anyone more worthy of them. I know I've never been, myself - but you are."Clark glanced down at their joined hands, then back up to Bruce, looking hesitant and overwhelmed.Bruce smiled encouragingly. He held up his hand again. "Marry me," he pleaded in a soft whisper."I thought it was implied," Clark replied with a lopsided smile, his cheeks turning a bright shade of pink. "We're here, aren't we?" he added against Bruce's lips as he bent down to kiss him.> End.。

没有亲密的朋友可以交谈英语作文

没有亲密的朋友可以交谈英语作文全文共5篇示例,供读者参考篇1Not Having a BFF to Practice English WithHi there! My name is Johnny and I'm a 4th grader at Oakwood Elementary School. I love a lot of things - playing soccer, reading comic books, and watching superhero movies. But there's one thing I really struggle with - speaking English fluently. You see, my parents only speak our native language at home, which is Korean. They know some basic English, but not enough to have full conversations. And since all my relatives live in Korea, I only get to practice Korean when I visit them during summer vacation. At school, I have to speak English all day with my teachers and classmates. Sometimes I get frustrated because I can't always express what I want to say. I know more vocabulary words than I can actually use in conversation. It's like they get stuck in my mouth!I've tried really hard to make friends with the other kids who also speak Korean as their first language. I figured if we practiced English together, it would help both of us get better at it. But a lot of them are shy too and would rather speak Korean when we hang out at recess. I don't blame them - it's more comfortable that way.The English-speaking kids have invited me to join their friend groups before. But I get nervous that I'll say something wrong and they'll make fun of me. I've seen them snicker at other kids who didn't pronounce words correctly. I don't want to deal with that. It's not fun being an easy target for bullies. What I could really use is a best friend - a BFF who also wants to improve their English skills. Maybe if we made a pact to only speak English with each other, it would get easier over time. We could practice conversations, teach each other new words and idioms, and joke around without being judged.A BFF is supposed to accept you for who you are, flaws and all. So hypothetically, if I messed up a phrase or stammered over a hard word, my BFF wouldn't tease me about it. They'd be patient, help me get it right, and laugh with me in a kind way, not at me.With a BFF, I could ask them how to say things I'm struggling with in English. Like how would I tell someone "Don't quit before the miracle happens"? Or what's another way to say "That's a piece of cake" without using that exact phrase? Having aback-and-forth exchange is so much better for learning than just reading from a book.My parents keep telling me that being bilingual is a huge advantage and something I should feel proud of. They say it will allow me to communicate with more people in the world and possibly get a really cool job someday. I get what they mean, but try explaining that to a 10-year-old! All I know is that English is hard and I need practice.Maybe I'll find my English-learning BFF next year when I start middle school. Bigger school, more kids, higher chance of meeting someone in the same situation as me, right? A guy can dream! For now, I'll just have to keep watching English TV shows and movies, reading English books, and doing exercises from my English workbooks. I've got to spelllllll everything out loud repeatedly and look up meanings of idioms to try and get them stuck in my brain. It's not the same as conversing, but it's better than nothing.Who knows, maybe I'll getpen pals from other countries who want to learn each other's languages? That could be an option for practicing English writing, at least. As long as I don't abbreviate everything like OMG and BTW - I want to avoid picking up bad habits!I'm determined to master this English thing, with or without a BFF's help. Being bilingual is an awesome skill that will look super impressive on college applications. I'd be able to travel pretty much anywhere and understand what's going on around me. People wouldn't have to repeat stuff or talk verrrry sllllooowwwly for me to comprehend.More importantly, it would allow me to make friends from all over the world. We could trade jokes, songs, and games from our different cultures. How cool would that be?! Maybe I'd pick up a few new languages along the way too. The more languages you know, the more of a secure code it is that parents and teachers can't understand. Just kidding...or am I?Anyway, that's my long-winded way of saying I could really use an English practice buddy. But I'm not giving up! I have the motivamotivation and if I put in the hard work, surely the skills will come eveeeentuuualllly. Then nobody will be able to shut me up! Thanks for listening, friends. Gotta coding now. TTYL!篇2My Big Problem with Learning EnglishHi, my name is Tommy and I'm in 5th grade. I have a big problem that's really bugging me. You see, I'm trying to learn English, but it's super hard because I don't have any close friends to practice with. All my best buddies only speak Chinese like me.In school, we have English class almost every day. Mrs. Lee, my English teacher, is really nice. She always gets us to do fun activities like singing songs, playing games, and acting out little skits. And she explains things in a way that's easy to understand. The problem is, I forget a lot of what I learn as soon as class is over. That's because when I go home or hang out with my friends, we all speak Chinese. My parents don't know much English either. So I don't get a chance to use what I'm learning. It's like that saying - "Use it or lose it!" I'm losing my English because I can't use it enough.I know I need to practice speaking more. Reading, writing, listening - those are important too. But speaking is definitely the hardest part for me. When I have to answer Mrs. Lee in class, I get all tongue-tied and flustered. The words just won't come outright. I know what I want to say, but I can't say it properly in English. It's so frustrating!Having friends to chat with in English would help me so much. I could get used to putting sentences together quickly without getting stuck. I could practice until speaking English felt totally natural, like speaking Chinese does now. And my friends could correct me when I make mistakes, so I can improve faster. But none of my closest friends are serious about learning English. We've all grown up speaking Chinese at home. To us, English is just a school subject we have to take, not something we actually use in real life. My buddies think I'm weird for wanting to get better at English. They just cram for tests and don't care about really learning it.I've tried making friends with the few kids in my class who can speak English well. But they were all born inEnglish-speaking countries and moved to China later. So their level is way too high for me. Whenever I try talking to them, I can barely understand what they're saying. It's like they're speaking a different language! There is one girl in my class who is seriously learning English like me. Her name is Laura and she just moved to China from Spain last year. We've tried becoming study buddies, but it'sbeen really hard. The languages we already know (Chinese for me, Spanish for her) are so different that we can't use them to explain things. We end up getting confused and giving up.I just don't know what to do. I'm stuck practicing English alone with my textbooks, watching movies and shows, listening to music, and whatever else I can find. But it's not the same as having a real conversation. Part of me has started wondering if I'll ever be fluent.I know I'm still young, so I have an advantage learning English compared to older people. Kids just seem to pick up new languages faster. But I need to find a way to build up my speaking skills, or all that advantage will go to waste. If I don't improve my English by speaking it more, I'll fall behind. And these days, knowing English is super important for getting good jobs and opportunities.I don't want to end up like some adults I know who took English classes for years but still can't speak it properly. They tell me, "English is just too hard. Speaking is the worst part!" Maybe for them it was hard because they didn't practice conversation enough at my age. I need to avoid making that same mistake. My dream is to go to a university overseas one day, where I'll be immersed in English all the time. I'll finally have to use itconstantly to make friends, understand lectures, write papers, and just get by every day. That total immersion is probably the only way I'll finally become fluent and natural at speaking English. But until then, I'm stuck here trying to find a way to get more English conversation practice. Maybe I could convince my parents to hire a English tutor for me? Someone who could come over regularly just to chat and help me improve. Or maybe there are english clubs or language exchanges I could join somewhere? I'll have to do some research.I refuse to give up on learning English. It just opens up too many amazing opportunities, like traveling the world, reading things from all over, and being able to communicate with people from so many cultures. If I can overcome this speaking practice problem, those opportunities will be mine. I've got to find a way to practice conversations more. It's the key to finally becoming fluent. Easy reading, writing, and listening will come after my speaking gets better.Well, thanks for listening to me rant about my English learning struggles! I've got to get back to my homework now. Ugh, I've got a big English vocabulary test coming up. Time to go drill those word lists again. Why did I decide to take this soseriously? Sometimes I think it would be easier to just goof off in English class like my friends. But no, I know English is too important. I'll figure out a way to get this speaking practice problem solved. Just you wait and see!篇3Not Having a Good Friend to Practice My English WithHi there! My name is Tommy and I'm in the 5th grade. I really want to get better at speaking English, but it's kind of hard because I don't have a super close friend who also wants to practice their English skills with me. Let me tell you about my situation. In my class at school, there are a few kids who are pretty good at English. Samantha is definitely the best - her parents are from the United States and she's basically fluent. I've tried chatting with her in English a few times, but she's pretty shy and I think me trying to speak English with her makes her uncomfortable. Then there's Jake. He's not quite as good as Samantha, but he can speak English pretty well. The problem is, Jake is the class clown type and he just likes goofing around rather than seriously practicing. Whenever I try to have an actual conversation withhim in English, he just starts joking around and it never goes anywhere. My friend Michael can understand English decently when it's spoken slowly, but his speaking isn't very good. We've tried practicing together a couple times, but he gets frustrated easily when he can't get the words out correctly. I don't mind the mistakes at all, but I think Michael gets embarrassed.None of the other kids in my class are very interested in or good at English. I wish I had a friend who was at a similar level as me and who was also super motivated to improve. We could practice dialogues, ask each other questions, correct each other's mistakes, and just have fun conversing in English together. That would be so helpful! My parents have tried to help me find opportunities to practice too. One thing they did was sign me up for an English conversation club that meets once a week. The club instructor is really nice, but it's mostly just her asking us questions and us giving short answers. We don't get to just freely chat and roleplay situations like I wish we could. My parents also looked into getting me an English tutor to practice conversational English with, but the tutors were prettyexpensive. We can't really afford to pay someone to have regular conversation practice sessions with me right now.At home, I try to practice my English speaking with my parents, but they aren't fluent speakers either. We can practice basic conversations, but once things get too complicated, we get stuck and end up switching back to our native language. Plus, my little brother just thinks it's silly when I try speaking English at home, so he makes fun of me for it.I even tried doing some language exchange video calls through an app, but it was kind of awkward practicing my English with random people online. A couple people I paired up with didn't seem very interested in actually helping me improve my skills. One person wouldn't stop interrupting me to give me unsolicited grammar lessons, which wasn't that helpful for conversation practice. With another caller, there was a pretty bad delay on the call, so our conversation didn't flow smoothly at all.Watching movies and shows in English has helped me a bit with listening comprehension, but I don't get straightforward speaking practice from that. Sometimes I'll try to narrate what's happening or repeat the dialogue to myself, but it's just not the same as having an actual back-and-forth conversation.I know I could spend time recording myself speaking English and then reviewing the recordings to check my pronunciation and grammar. But again, that's not actual practice communicating with someone live. There's no opportunity to ask follow-up questions, develop ideas through a dialogue, or get immediate feedback.Writing in English, like for class assignments, certainly helps me practice forming sentences correctly. Reading out loud to myself after I've written something also lets me hear how the words sound. But at the end of the day, writing isn't the same as speaking. I need oral practice too!I've considered joining an online English conversation group or club to meet new people to practice with. I've heard that can be a good way to find language learning partners if you don't have any in your local friend group. I'll for sure look into that more.Ultimately though, I really wish I could find just one close friend around my age and English level who is passionate about helping each other improve. We could chat about anything - our classes, hobbies, families, or whatever. We could play language games together to practice different skills. And we could feelcomfortable making mistakes without judgement, since we'd both be learners just trying our best.Having a friend like that would be so awesome for my English speaking development. I could gain confidence, expand my vocabulary hearing words in context, and get crucialreal-world practice holding conversations. It would make learning English feel less like a chore and more like a fun way to bond with someone.Well, that's the situation I'm in. Even without a special English-learning friend, I'm certainly going to keep on looking for creative ways to practice my English speaking skills as much as possible. But having a close friend who's as excited as me to improve together would be a total game changer. Fingers crossed I can find that soon! Let me know if you have any other tips too. Thanks for reading my story!篇4Not Having a Good Friend to Practice English WithHi there! My name is Emily and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to tell you about one of the biggest problems I have - not having a really close friend to practice speaking English with. You see, my parents always say how important it is to learn English well. They tell me that being fluent in English will open up so many opportunities for me in the future. Whether it's getting into a good university, getting a great job, or even traveling the world, knowing English is really important. And I know they're right! But here's the thing. As much as I try to practice my English skills in class and by reading books or watching shows, I don't have a chance to really practice my speaking skills. I can understand English pretty well and I can write okay, but speaking is hard for me. I get shy and nervous, and I don't always know the right words to say.The reason speaking is so tough is that I don't have a true best friend who also wants to get better at English. Sure, I have friends at school, but none of them are as motivated as me to improve their English conversation abilities. We just end up speaking in our native language, which is totally normal but doesn't help me practice speaking English in a casual, friendly way.I remember last year, we had this English teacher who was fantastic. Part of her approach was to pair us up with an "English buddy" to have casual conversations with a few times per weekto practice speaking. This was perfect for me! I got paired with this girl named Jessica, and we would meet up and just chat about our days, our hobbies, movies we liked, etc. It waslow-pressure but really helped me get more comfortable speaking more naturally. Jessica and I became good friends that year. But then summer came, and we went our separate ways. This school year, Jessica isn't in any of my classes. We've kind of drifted apart and don't hang out anymore. Now I'm back to square one without a good speaking partner. I've tried making new friends who are interested in practicing English together, but it's really hard. Either they aren't very motivated to improve their skills, or our personalities just don't quite click enough to become close friends.I've thought about maybe joining an English conversation club or something, but those can be intimidating too. I'm just a kid, you know? The idea of trying to have extended conversations exclusively in English with total strangers who are older than me is pretty scary! Part of me wishes my school would pair us up with English buddies again like last year. Or that I could find a penpal to chat with online. Anything to get more relaxed practice just talking out loud in English.Don't get me wrong, I'll keep working hard in my English classes and studying as much as I can. But there's just something special about having a close friend who you can casually chat with in English. It's not just practicing vocabulary and grammar rules, but really ?owing in conversation. Picking up onslang, idioms, and natural speakingpatterns. Looseningup and not beingso self-conscious aboutmistakes. Thatcomfort levelis whatI'm missingwithout havinga reallyclose Englishbuddy.I'm trying to make the best of it, though. Maybe this is motivating me to get even better so I can make new friends who love English just as much as me. We can be English buddies together! Or perhaps I can convince my parents to let me do a summer English immersion program. Installing language learning apps on my phone and tablet has helped a bit too. Anything to get more speaking reps in!I'm not giving up, that's for sure. Being fluent in English is just too valuable in today's world. I'll keep working at it daily, little by little. Reading out loud, listening to audio books, writing practice stories, watching comprehensible shows and movies. And yeah, I'll keep trying my best to make new English-loving friends at school who want to goof around chatting in English with me!Maybe by the time I get to middle school or high school, I'll be fluent enough to really shine. More likely is that English will forever be a work in progress for me, no matter how old I get. That's okay though, as long as I'm always striving to improve. Just got to be patient and keep on practicing!Anyway, thanks for reading about my struggle to find a good English-speaking friend. I know it's a pretty minor problem in the grand scheme of things, but it's something I think about a lot. If you have any tips for me, I'm all ears! Catch you later.篇5Learning English is Really Hard Without Friends to Practice WithMy name is Tommy and I am in the 5th grade. I am trying my best to learn English, but it is really difficult because I don't have any close friends who also speak English. All of my classmates just want to speak in our native language, which makes it hard for me to practice my English conversation skills. In class, we have English lessons where the teacher speaks to us in English and has us repeat words and phrases. That part is not too bad because the whole class is doing it together. But then we have homework assignments where we need to writeparagraphs or have conversations with a partner. That's when it gets really tricky for me.When I have to write the paragraphs for homework, I struggle a lot with the vocabulary and sentence structure. At home, my parents don't speak any English, so I can't ask them for help. I have to use an English dictionary and keep looking words up, which slows me down tremendously. Sometimes I'm not even sure if I'm using the right words in the right way when I put the whole paragraph together. The conversation practice with a partner is even worse for me. I get paired up with one of my classmates, and they just want to rush through it in our native language so we can be done with it. I try to insist that we do it in English like we're supposed to, but they get frustrated. They'll just rapidly say one of the scripted English lines, and then look at me impatiently to say my line. There's no real back-and-forth conversation happening.I raise my hand a lot in class to ask the teacher for help and clarification when I'm confused about something related to English. The problem is, the teacher has to divide their attention among the whole class, so they can't spend too much time just working with me individually. I can tell the teacher wishes myclassmates were more willing to engage in extra English practice with me.At this point, I'm worried that my lack of opportunity to practice conversational English will really hurt my progress. The reading, writing, and organized lesson components are helpful, but I know I need more active practice speaking back-and-forth in a real dialog. Watching movies or shows in English could help a little, but it's not the same as having an interactive conversation.Sometimes I get really frustrated that none of my friends make an effort to regularly practice English with me, even just for a few minutes per day. Don't they understand how important this is for my future? Being able to speak English will allow me to communicate with so many more people across the world. It will hugely increase my educational and career opportunities down the road. Why don't they see the value in that?Other times, I try to remember that they're just kids like me. We're all still learning and developing our interests and priorities. Maybe someday my friends will click with the importance of English skills and be more willing to participate. Or maybe I'll make new friends sometime who are also really committed to becoming bilingual. I certainly hope so, because this linguisticjourney is very, very difficult when you don't have any peers you can turn to.My parents have talked about looking into English tutors or conversation clubs for me to join. That would definitely help, but I know those options can be quite expensive. We're not a wealthy family, so we would only be able to afford a very limited amount of that supplemental practice. It couldn't completely make up for the lack of close friends who speak English.Ideally, some of my classmates would hear my frustrations and have more sympathy for me. If even one or two of them made a little effort to periodically practice conversational English with me, it could make a huge difference. I would be able to actively use what I'm learning instead of letting it stagnate. We could take turns asking each other questions, describing things, or just casually chatting. If I can't get that type of engagement from my current friends, then I'll need to keep trying to make new friends who value building English skills. Having a couple good friends who will commit to productive English conversation practice with me could transform my learning process from a grind into something richly rewarding and fun. Those positive peer bonds could motivate all of us to stick with it.For now, I'll just have to persevere through the loneliness and struggle of trying to learn this vitally important new language all by myself. I know it will pay off for me in the long run, but some support from friends who get its importance would make the journey so much easier and more enjoyable. I can only hope that sometime soon, I'll find a small group of language learning buddies who enrich my life. Until then, inching forward alone is my only option if I want English proficiency.。

He was one of the first to call the fourth subfield of anthropology "linguistic anthropology" instead of "anthropological linguistics".As one of the first sociolinguists, Hymes helped to pioneer the connection between speech and human relations and human understandings of the world.Hymes promoted what he and others call “ethnopoetics,” an anthropological method of transcribing and analyzing folklore and oral narrative that pays attention to poetic structures within speech. The "S-P-E-A-K-I-N-G" modelHymes developed a valuable model to assist the identification and labeling of components of linguistic interaction that was driven by his view that, in order to speak a language correctly, one needs not only to learn its vocabulary and grammar, but also the context in which words are used. The model had sixteen components that can be applied to many sorts of discourse: message form; message content; setting; scene; speaker/sender; addressor; hearer/receiver/audience; addressee; purposes (outcomes); purposes (goals); key; channels; forms of speech; norms of interaction; norms of interpretation; and genres. To facilitate the application of his representation, Hymes constructed the acronym, S-P-E-A-K-I-N-G, under which he grouped the sixteen components within eight divisions:* Setting and Scene* Participants: speaker & hearer* Ends: purposes, goals and intentions* Act Sequence: form & order of the event* Key: tone, manner or spirit* Instrumentalities: Forms & Styles of the speech* Norms: social rules* Genre。

Title: Hypothetically SpeakingContinuity: DCUCharacters/Pairings: Clark/BruceRating: GGenre: Shameless fluff.Warnings: NoneSpoilers: NoneDisclaimer: These aren't m y toys. I just borrowed them.Length: 530 wordsSummary: "If it was legal here, would you ever consider...you know?"=:=:=Bruce sat in bed, quietly reading the morning paper as the first rays of morning sun filtered through the curtains. Next to him, Clark stretched lazily, pulling himself up to a sitting position."Anything interesting?" he asked, resting his chin on Bruce's shoulder so he could have a better view of the newspaper.Bruce shrugged. "Same old bad news. Rarely any good.""Cynic.""I'm just being realistic," Bruce replied before turning to the next page.Clark squinted, scanning through headlines at super speed using his enhanced visual powers. "There," he announced, "page B-12. Bottom half."Turning to page B-12, Bruce found an article on the legalization of sam e-sex unions in a neighboring state. "Yeah, I guess that counts as good news," he agreed."Told you."Bruce turned back to the page he'd been looking at just before so he could resume his reading. After a few minutes of silence, he asked, "If it was legal here, would you ever consider...you know?"Clark chuckled. "Not if this is how you were planning on asking.""I was speaking hypothetically," Bruce replied matter-of-factly. "Either way, you know I don't do flowers and romance.""Heaven forbid you'd do anything out of character," Clark teased. "But you'd have to make it really good, though."Bruce put the paper down, moving slightly away. "Oh yeah?" he challenged with a frown. "And if it's not, you'll send me packing?""Of course not," Clark answered, fighting the urge to roll his eyes. "But you only get to ask once. Then you'd be stuck with m e.""That's the whole point, isn't it?""You realize you're essentially stuck with m e either way... legal or not," Clark said, after a m oment's reflection.Bruce's expression turned curious, yet hopeful. "Am I?""Oh yeah," Clark replied, a smile tugging at his lips. "Kryptonians mate for life.""How would you know?" Bruce asked in a chuckle.Clark shrugged. "Just a guess." He paused before adding, "This one does, anyway.""Guess I should be thankful you have a fondness for bats," Bruce told him, leaning closer to brush a kiss on his lover's lips."Only the m ost stubborn ones...""I haven't the faintest idea what you're talking about," Bruce said in a mocking tone before picking up the newspaper again.Clark couldn't help laughing. "Oh yeah, I totally hit the jackpot."Bruce sm iled smugly. "Glad you think so."A few short m oments later, he put the paper down again, frowning deeply in thought. "That Fortress of yours... it's on solid land, isn't it? It's not just floating around som ewhere at the North Pole, is it?""It's on solid land," Clark confirmed, puzzled. "Why?"Ignoring the question, Bruce went on with another of his own, "Which country does this land actually belong to? Greenland? Canada, maybe?"Clark's expression grew even more perplexed. "I'm not entirely certain. I couldcheck if you want m e to. What difference does it m ake?""Oh, no difference, really." Bruce gave him an enigmatic smile before leaning in and whispering to his ear, "It's legal in both those places."Smiling mischievously, Clark got out of bed. "I'll start packing," he said over his shoulder as he exited the room.=> End.=:=:=Quick notes:- There isn't any actual solid land at the North Pole, thus making it impossible to build anything permanent there. T he closest landmasses to it, according to the maps I looked at, belong to Canada and Greenland (which is an autonomous province of Denmark.)- Denmark w as the first country to legalize same-sex civil unions (they call them "registered partnerships") in 1989. They extended the law to Greenland in 1996. Canada legalized same-sex marriage in 2005.- I used the term "same-sex union" to be at least sort of accurate, because there's about a million names f or it, but none of th em mean precisely the same thing... researching this made my brain hurt, and my heart ache a bit, too.。
