摘要：PURPOSE:To raise the efficiency of settling work of a caisson by a method in which a liquid and a granular material are packed in a space between a sheathing wall to be excavated by the caisson cutting edge and the periphery of the caisson, and then moved up and down in order to regulate the friction between the sheathing wall and the caisson body. CONSTITUTION:For settling a ciasson after a predetermined amount of excavation is completed, the pressures of pneumatic pressure chambers 7a-7d are reduced. In this case, the settling of the caisson is often interrupted by the friction around the cassison body 1 and the cutting resistances of the cutting edge 4 and the partition wall 6. Accordingly, a pressure pump 23 is operated to jet a liquid from the nozzle holes 18 and 19 of annular pipes 16 and 17 in such a way as to direct the liquid upwardly so as to scatter a granular material 30 upward, whereby reducing the frictional resistance between the underground wall 25 and the caisson body 1. The amount of reducing the frictional resistance is adjusted by varying the flow rate of the liquid. By regulating the frictional resistance in the aperture 20 in this way, the settling of the caisson can be regulated.
