Li Hua 第二节书面表达(满分25分)
Dear Ms. Wang,
The news that you are retiring next month fills us with attachment. In our heart, you are much more than our teacher of English. In fact, you have also become our close friend.
In the past two years, we have benefited greatly from your instructive and inspiring teaching. But you never confined your care for us within the classroom. When we felt confused and needed guidance, you were always there and ready to offer your help. When we won some honor or prize, you were so happy as if you were the one who was rewarded. You leave us so many precious memories.
However, we also feel relieved that you are retiring from so hard a position that has consumed your health. We hope you can enjoy a peaceful and comfortable retirement life. Please accept our most sincere wishes and thanks.
Yours,
Li Hua
听力原文:
1. M: Are you ready to check out?
W: Yes. You pay the bill and take our kids downstairs, and I’ll call the desk and have our luggage taken out to the taxi.
2. W: It’s too bad missing the class today. Professor Marks outlined the entire
fifth chapter. He said most of the exam will come from that.
M: Oh! That means I’ll have to do twice as much work for the exam.
3. M: What are you doing?
W: I’m going through all my comic books. I’m gonna try to sell them.
M: Do you think you’ll get much money for them?
W: I’m not sure, but it’s worth a try.
4. W: Excuse me, Mr. Brown. Is it all right if I go to the dentist’s?
M: What, now? No, it’s the worst possible time. We’re very busy.
W: Well, you see, I’ve got a terrible toothache and I really must have it seen to.
M: Oh, I’m sorry. Of course you can.
5. M: Here is your letter from Uncle Sam.
W: Uncle Sam? Perhaps you are mistaken.
M: Uncle Sam refers to the United States.
W: Interesting! Tell me how it came into being.
6. W: I’d like to book a ticket from Paris to Hong Kong on August 10 for one person. M: Let me check. Do you want a direct flight?
W: Actually, I’m looking for a cheaper one.
M: I’m afraid that all the flights of 10th August are booked.
W: How about August 11th?
M: There’re two flights available on 11th August. The one in the morning is FF400 while the one in the afternoon is FF370.
W: I’ll take the afternoon one.
7. M: Hello, Amanda. Would you be free on Saturday afternoon? I want to invite you to see a play.
W: Er… Saturday? Wait a minute. I’ll check my diary. [After a while] Hello? M: Yes?
W: I’m really sorry, Tom. But my mother will come down from New York and I’ll go around with her on Saturday afternoon.
M: Well, another time perhaps?
W: Yes, fine. How about next Saturday? It’s still on then, isn’t it?
M: Yes, I think so. I’ll pick you up about 2 o’clock.
W: Yes, lovely. Thank you. I look forward to it.
8. M: I’m Martin. Are you new here? I haven’t seen you around.
W: Yes. I only started on Monday.
M: Great. So, what department are you in?
W: Housekeeping.
M: Oh, yeah? I work on reception.
W: I see. Are you American?
M: No, I’m from Sydney, Australia. How about you?
W: I’m from Brazil. How long have you been here in Singapore?
M: Nearly three years now. I like it a lot.
W: Me too. I love it.
M: So, how are you enjoying the job so far?
W: It’s great. Everyone’s been really friendly.
M: Where were you before you moved here?
W: At the Regent Palace, in London.
M: That’s a big place, isn’t it?
W: Yes, it has around 900 bedrooms. London’s a city too big for me. I don’t like big cities.
M: Me neither. Anyway, I’ve got to go. It was nice talking with you.
W: You too. See you around.
9. W: Hey, Steve. How’s it going? How’s the new job?
M: The work is good. I love promotions work. But, man, the system here is driving me nuts. They have so many rules!
W: Yeah, they kind of do. But it’s just different, you know? You’ll get used to it.
M: Really? But sometimes I think I’m going to collapse. They’re so strict, especially my boss.
W: Mr. Takahashi?
M: Yeah, I mean, he’s a really good boss, very smart about business, but he never really tells me what he’s thinking.
W: Sometimes bosses are quite like that.
M: But I can feel his eyes, man. It’s like he’s watching me all the time. I have to be at work right on time, and not a second late.
W: Yeah. Being on time is really important here.
M: And meeting people is so formal. That drives me nuts. I never know what to do.
Should I bow? Should I shake hands? Should I shake hands and bow at the same time? It just seems that everyone is too polite all the time. Can’t they just relax a little bit?
W: Well, they just have different ways of doing things, I guess. And I think they’ll relax after you get to know them a bit.
10. W: Ladies and gentlemen, in about ten minutes the coach is picking us up to take us on a tour of the valleys of South Wales. You may know that the area is famous for its industry but you may not realize what a lot of natural beauty there is too. First we’ll visit a waterfall, which during the 1700s was used to power a machine which produced flour and you can see what’s left of the building and imagine what it was like.
Then we’re travelling a bit further up the valley to visit a museum which has been built where there used to be a huge coal mine. They don’t mine coal there any more but the museum is fascinating. There’s a video you can watch and in the souvenir shop, as well as buying all the normal souvenirs, you can buy lamps which are exactly like the ones the miners carried to light their way. We’ll probably eat our lunch up there near the museum, in the coach if the weather’s bad.
Then we’re making our way back south to the coast. There’ll be time for a walk along the beach or if any of you are feeling energetic you can try a bit of windsurfing. We’ll probably stop at a café on the way back to have a cup of coffee and a snack and we arrive back at the hotel by five o’clock. Now if anyone has any questions?。
