Mike Myers is a teacher at Chauncey Rose High School in Terre Haute, Indiana. Last year, he taught his students about the world’s rainforests. They learned that rainforests are important because the plants and animals of the rainforests give us food, wood and medicine.
Destruction of the world’s rainforests is a serious problem. Unfortunately, rainforests are disappearing at a rate of 80 acres per minute! As part of the class project, Myers’ students brought three acres of a rainforest in Central America. They paid $25 per acre. The students hope that the land they bought will be protected and not destroyed. The students became so interested in rainforests that they decided to get a closer look at a real rainforest.
So last June, Myers and four of his students flew to Costa Rica in Central America, and took a boat ride down a river to see the rainforest. They saw alligators and crocodiles. A guide took Myers and his students deep into the rainforest. “The monkeys were not happy that we were in their forest. They broke small branches off the trees and threw them at us,”one of the students said. “It was a great learning experience for all of us,”said Myers.
Each student chose something specific about Costa Rica to study involving the plants, animals, food and culture. During the last few days the group had time to do fun activities. They went

Although he died almost 40 years ago, Bruce Lee is still considered the greatest and most influential kung fu performer of the 20th century. His films brought traditional HongKong kungfu
movies to a new level of popularity, and introduced kungfu to millions of people in the West.
Born in the USA in 1940, Lee returned to this native HongKong before his birthday. As a teenager, the highly intelligent boy was accepted into one of HongKong’s most famous middle schools but he paid little attention to his studies. He was more interested in sport, especially kungfu, and hanging out with his street-gang friends. In 1959, Lee got into trouble with police for fighting. His mother, fearing he would end up in prison, sent him to the USA. Two years later, he began studying at university there.
While still a student, Lee opened his own kungfu school, teaching a new fighting style he had developed. What made Lee’s style different was that it used power, strength and, quick-action attacks. It also bined(融合)Japanese, Korean and South American fighting styles with traditional slow-moving Chinese kun fu.
Among Lee’s students were several famous actors who, impressed by his good-looks and fighting skill, encouraged him to start acting. Over the next five years Lee achieved some success in America. But his dream of introducing his fighting style into American movies was not accepted by local film makers who thought western audiences were not interested in kungfu.
Determined to prove them wrong, Lee returned to HongKong in 1970. There he made two films Fists of Fury(1971) and Way of the Dragon(1972), using his kungfu ideas and techniques. The movies were huge hits world-wide, making Lee an international star and symbol of kungfu. These were followed by what is widely considered the greatest kungfu movie of all time, Enter the Dragon (1973). Tragically however, Lee suddenly and mysteriously died while making his next movie Game of Death. He was only 33 years old.

参考答案
Dear Editor,
I’m writing to tell you about the discussion we’re had about whether the students should bring a mobile phone to school. 70%of the students are against the idea. They say that when the students bring their mobile phone to school, they can’t concentrate on study. Some students even play with their mobile phones in class and that has a bad influence on not only the others
but also themselves. However, 30% of the students are for the idea. They say they can keep in touch with their parents or friends easily and know more information.
In my opinion, I don’t think the students should bring a mobile phone to school. As a student, we should focus our attention on study.。
