■Warming up
Hi, class. Language is something for use, for communication. And language can be learned in use, in communication.
Today we shall learn about the English language in use. We shall learn about English Grammar and English V ocabulary.
■Grammar
1 Work in pairs. Ask and answer. Use usually and often.
Work with your partner. Ask each other questions with the following words given to you. Complete your sentences. Use usually and often. Pay attention to your sentence structure.
2 Write about your partner. Use usually and often.
How is your partner like? Can you write a short passage about your partner? Please use usually and often in your writing. You can write many things about your partner. What does he or she like? Does he or she usually go online? How does he or she think of computer games? Does he or she play computer games? What else does he or she do
3 Complete the sentences.
In this section, I would like you to complete the sentences below. Please pay great attention to the form of the verb. Try to fill in the correct answers. For example, we can say these sentences. Henry doesn’t like playing games, but
he likes drawing pictures. Jack and Kate don’t travel a lot, but they often visit websites about traveling. Claire always uses the computer, but she doesn’t know how to download music. My parents usually write to me, but they don’t send me emails.

4 Complete the word map with words about computers.
What are the different parts of a computer? From Unit 1, we learn there are several parts, for example, the printer, the keyboard, the mouse and the monitor. Can you use these words from this module about computers to complete the word map below?
5 Complete the phrases with words in the box.
There are many verbs in the box below. We can use these verbs to make many sentences. We can even write a long article with these words. I often switch on my computer and visit websites about playing computer games. I connect to the Internet and download music every weekend. I click on “save” to save the music documents. I open the picture document and click on “print” to print my work. I often check the train timetable, but I don’t usually

Work with your partner. Make a questionnaire like this one below. It should be a questionnaire about one’s using
7 Ask the questions in your questionnaire. Write the name of the person, and make notes on the answers. Ask each other questions about his or her using of the computer in your questionnaire. While asking, please make notes on the answers. Think about these things after you finish the task. Does your partner go online too much? Does your partner play computer games a lot? What advice of using computers can you give for each other?
8 Work in groups of three or four. Talk about the answers to your questionnaires.
Work with three or four classmates together. Talk about the answers you get to your questionnaires. What can you learn from these answers? How many of you use a computer in the evening? How many of you often go online? How many of you send more than three emails a week?。
