Objective:
➢To enable students to talk about future plans related to sports events using "going to."
➢To improve students' listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills through sportsthemed activities.
➢To enhance vocabulary related to sports and cheering.
Materials:
✓Textbook: Foreign Research Edition, Grade 7, Module 3, Unit 2
✓Multimedia projector and puter
✓Whiteboard and markers
✓Activity worksheets and handouts
✓Flashcards with sportsrelated vocabulary
Duration:
◆One standard class period (approximately 4045 minutes)
Procedure:
1. WarmUp (5 minutes)
1)Initiate a discussion: “What sports do you like? Have you ever been
to a sports event?”
2)Introduce the topic of the lesson: Discussing plans to attend or
participate in sports events.
2. Vocabulary Introduction (5 minutes)
(1)Introduce key vocabulary: “cheer,”“player,”“team,”“match,”
“score,”“win,”“lose,”etc.
(2)Review the structure “going to”for future plans.
3. Listening Activity (10 minutes)
1)Play a unit audio clip where characters talk about going to a sports
event.
2)Conduct a listening prehension exercise, focusing on future plans
and sports vocabulary.
4. Speaking Activity (10 minutes)
(1)In pairs, students discuss their plans to attend or watch a sports event
using “going to.”
(2)Encourage the use of new vocabulary and expressions.
5. Reading Activity (5 minutes)
1)Students read a dialogue or text from the textbook about attending a
sports event.
2)Discuss the text, emphasizing future tense and sportsrelated
vocabulary.
6. Writing Activity (5 minutes)
✧Students write a short paragraph about their plans to attend a future
sports event, using “going to.”
7. Roleplay Activity (5 minutes)
❖Students form small groups to create and act out scenarios about planning to go to a sports event.
