(4)Page 2VW 10550: Issue 2008-041 ScopeAutomotive products of the Volkswagen AG and its associated companies, manufactured internally and internally, which reach the final consumer as individual parts, units, original parts or accesso-ries are required by existing laws to be identified with the name of the country of origin, to the extent that this is technically feasible and economically justifiable (see Table 1).The supplier is answerable to Volkswagen AG for the correct indication of the country of origin andthe correct marking according to this standard.2 Definition of country of originThe country of origin is that country in which the last essential processing of the vehicle is per-formed.3 RequirementsThe name of the country of origin must be applied to vehicle parts such that it is clearly visible andeasily legible on a permanent basis. The country-of-origin marking shall be applied to the part by incorporation in the manufacturing tool if this is technically feasible.If this is not possible for technical reasons, permanent marking on the part shall be ensured by o-ther suitable processes, such as engraving, stamping, etching, printing or by applying adhesive labels.For parts which cannot be marked for reasons of geometry, function or apperance, the supply packing shall be marked.In the case of relocations of manufacturing tools from the originally designated country of origin to other manufacturing countries, the country codes shall be adjusted accordingly.The complete English country name, e. g. …Germany“, …Mexico“, …Belgium“, …Spain“ according toISO 3166-1 shall be applied, accompanied by the prefix … Made in….“.The prefix …Made in…“ can be omitted if the available space is not sufficient. The font height of the country name shall be approximately half the logo height. However, it shall not directly precede or follow the manufacturer's code. Exception: For valve springs, color markings as per Volkswagen Standard VW 10540-7 are assigned to the manufacturer as manufacturer's code.RequirementsParts must be marked immediately once they are newly developed or ordered for the first time. Miss‐ing markings must be applied immediately. The marking requirements acc. to Figure 2 must be com‐plied with. Any markings that do not apply must be deleted in the drawing.The parts must be marked in such a way that durability and legibility of the marking are ensured over the service life of the parts. The marking must be applied to the parts using suitable manufacturing methods, e. g. embossing, etching or electric discharge machining.NOTE 1 Preferably, the marking is to be applied by incorporating it into the manufacturing tool.If possible, the code characters must be half the size of the logo diameter "d1" or the logo height "h" as per VW 10514. To extend the current leak path, a plastic socket in a honeycomb shape, for example, shall be selected.The push-on connection is generally on the electric/electronic component. The coding shall not be done by arranging the plug pins, but by the outside contour. The push-on connection is compact and shall not be designed as individual connections.The contacts shall be made solid (not folded), fixed and pressed in or injected. The push-on connection must have a catch for the connector housing (on the cable side).collars2.8 ProtectivePin and protective collars shall be designed as mechanical components. Halbzeugen ─ Teilen, bei denen aus Platzmangel eine Kennzeichnung nicht möglich ist bzw. nicht lesbar (Begriff siehe DIN 1450) angebracht werden kann.
Bei Teilen, die von ihrer Beschaffenheit her nicht mit dem Hersteller-Code nach dieser Norm gekennzeichnet werden können, sind Kennzeichnungsalternativen wie z.B. die Hersteller-Code-Kennzeichnung mit Etiketten (Labeln) zwischen verantwortlicher Konstruktion, dem Hersteller und der Herstellercode-vergebenden Stelle und ihre Übernahme in die entsprechenden Dokumente zu vereinbaren.
Ausnahme: Für Ventilfedern sind den Herstellern nach VW 10540-7 Farbmarkierungen als Hersteller-Code zugeordnet.
2 Anforderungen
Die Kennzeichnung der Teile ist sofort bei Neuentwicklungen und Erstbestellungen vorzunehmen. Fehlende Kennzeichnungen sind unverzüglich aufzubringen. Die Kennzeichnungsvorgabe nach Bild 2 ist sicherzustellen. Nicht zutreffende Kennzeichnungen sind in der Zeichnung zu streichen. Die Kennzeichnung muss so ausgeführt sein, dass die Haltbarkeit und Lesbarkeit entsprechend der Lebensdauer der Teile gewährleistet ist. Sie ist durch geeignete Herstellverfahren, wie z. B. Prägen, Ätzen, Erodieren, auf die Teile aufzubringen.
ANMERKUNG Vorzugsweise ist die Kennzeichnung durch Einarbeitung in das Herstellwerkzeug auf das Teil aufzubringen.
Die Code-Zeichen sollen möglichst in halber Größe des Markenzeichendurchmessers “d 1“ oder der Markenzeichenhöhe “h“ nach VW 10514 ausgeführt werden, jedoch bei entsprechender Kennzeichnungsfläche die Schriftgröße von 2 mm nicht unterschreiten.
Zusammenbauten (ZSB), die als ein Ersatzteil vertrieben werden, sind nur einmal zu kennzeichnen, während jedes Einzelteil eines ZSBs, das als Ersatzteil ausgewiesen ist, auch jeweils gekennzeichnet sein muss.
Die Kennzeichnung am Teil sollte nach Möglichkeit in Einbaulage sichtbar angeordnet sein. Für im Sichtbereich des Kunden liegende Teile ist Abstimmung über den Anbringungsort der Kennzeichnung mit Design und der Hersteller-Code- vergebenden Stelle erforderlich.
Für die Kennzeichnung gilt die Schrift nach DIN 1451-4 (Mittelschrift).
