Teachers play countless roles for students. They act as a parent, as a teacher or even as a friend to many learners. Thus, they need to be sensitive and responsive to the needs of their students not only in academic aspect, but also in personal, social and emotional fields. In other words, they are supposed to know what their students want.
First of all, students need to be respected. Respect them as a group and as individuals. It develops their self-respect and it makes them more receptive to learning when students feel that they are valued and respected. The number one sign of disrespect is bringing a person down. Though many educators camouflage(掩饰) encouragement by undervaluing students, bear in mind that not all students have the ability to withstand insults or negative comments.
In addition, though students like to hear praises from their teachers, yet giving only praises for a job well done may not be enough because students need constructive feedback for further improvement of their performances. Recognizing their strong points and helping them overcome their weak points are important. Don’t criticize because it will just increase students’ defensiveness. Avoid saying “but” because it can mean that praises are half-meant. Instead, follow the commending(赞美的) statement with “and” to lessen the chances of students’ defensiveness. Feedback should also be objective.
Thirdly, students wish their teacher to be humorous. They want happy moments in class. Telling a joke when suitable may increase students’ ent husiasm to focus more on the topic at hand. Laughter inside the classroom could make them feel comfortable. Don’t be always in bad temper, or else students might absorb your negative energy until all of them go out of the class feeling tired and unsatisfied. Thus, being responsible for whatever comes of their mouth is necessary because as teachers, they have the ability to build or break the esteem of the students.
Lastly, students want their teachers to treat them all as equals. Students can immediately spot when favoritism exists in class. During asking students to answer questions, for example, calling the same student, though others are already tired of volunteering themselves, can lead them to think that their teacher is being unfair. To avoid such issues, ensure that personal biases(偏见) should not influence the way students are treated. Furthermore, ensure that the evaluation of their performances should be based upon specific and objective criteria.
Being a perfect teacher may be impossible. However, having the qualities that students wish for could be the greatest advantage a teacher can have. Considering what students want from their teachers is necessary because being a teacher does not only rest in giving lectures and exams.
71.unwilling /reluctant 72. comment 73.strengths 74.prevent/stop 75.Humor 76.enthusiastically 77.bad-tempered 78.Fairness 79.sensitive 80. criteria
第71题定回原文第二段的第二行,看清楚固定搭配,如果你是moe receptive to 后面应该加learning , 这里是be willing to do ,所以后面是to learn。

第79题第五段的第二句话,students can immediately spot学生能够立马发现,也就是学生有敏锐的洞察力,非常敏感,用students are sensitive to
第80题根据第五段的最后一句话,ensure that the evaluation of their performance should be based upon specific and objective criteria.

Going broke in your golden years is commonplace, lasts a long time and is a scarier nightmare than any Halloween horror film. But by changing habits and doing some smart planning, you can avoid that terror.
Here are my suggestions:
Cheaper housing
Cutting big, unnecessary expenses is a better place to start.
For many, the best savings trick is leaving a big city. Housing, restaurants, groceries and basic services typically get cheaper the farther you get from a metropolitan center.
In Seattle, for example, a three-bedroom home can cost $1 million or more, according to Zillow. In nearby Duvall, Washington, you get that house plus a nice yard for half a million or less. Renting a three-bedroom Seattle pad typically costs $3,500 a month or more. In the suburbs? Try $2,200. That’s over $15,000 in annual savings.
Look up housing costs in any major city and its suburbs. You’ll see similar trends. In California, you get more for your buck in San Ramon than in San Francisco. Santa Clarita is hugely more affordable than Los Angeles.
Round Rock, Texas, beats Austin. Garden City, New York, beats Manhattan. Move farther out, to true rural America, and you can cut housing costs by half again, easy.
Can’t gi ve up urban living? Consider moving to a cheaper metro area.
According to SmartAsset’s analysis, a $1 million retirement fund lasts just 10.5 years in Manhattan. San Francisco is nearly as bad, just 12.7 years.
But in some big cities, your buck stretches further. In Denver, your $1 million savings could last 21 years. West Coasters might also try Phoenix, where $1 million lasts over 25 years.
Cut entertainment spending
If you don’t want to leave family, friends or community, there is another big, easy way to save: Slash entertainment spending. Few folks fully understand what they waste unconsciously. It’s estimated that people aged 65 to 74 spend $5,832 annually on play. For a couple, that’s around $11,000. One reason it gets out of hand? In retirement, you jump from one or two leisure days a week to seven.
But there is a lot of free and cheap fun. Consider your local Shakespeare in the Park instead of spending hundreds for “Hamilton” tickets. Have picnics or experiment your way through a new cookbook instead of eating out regularly. While watching TV, make sure you actually use services you subscribe to. Many subscribe to things (streaming, gyms, wholesale retailers, etc.) they rarely use.
Rethink your old budget
Central to all this: Plan to change your habits, which can become our real Halloween goblins. Humans are habitual creatures, and our routines keep us spending the way we did before.
Just as important as avoiding old routines is setting a budget. Then stick to it. Keep records of your spending. Ho ld yourself accountable. Don’t forget to plan for the unexpected! Many folks forget to factor in wiggle room for car or home maintenance.
Budgeting and penny-pinching may not sound fun. But it beats the terrifying misery of going broke in old age. A little planning goes a long way later.

Attachment
Attachment is not just a connection between two people; it's a bond that involves a desire for regular contact with that person and the experience of distress (悲伤)during separation from that person.
According to psychologist John Bowlby, there are four critical characteristics of attachment. The first is the desire to be near those with whom we share an attachment since we are happy while staying with them. Attachments also create a safe shelter, meaning that during times of distress, fear, or uncertainty, we may seek out the people we're attached to for care and comfort. Next, attachment figures also offer a secure base for exploration. This is particularly important during childhood. This secure base allows kids to explore the world while they know they can still return to the safety of the attachment figure. Finally, we experience separation distress when parted from an attachment figure. For example, kids tend to become upset when parents have to leave them in the care of others.
Attachment serves a number of important purposes. For instance, it helps keep babies and
children close to their caregivers so that they can avoid potential dangers, which in turn helps boost their chances, chances of survival. However, if a child doesn't form a secure attachment to a caregiver, he or she will suffer from a number of problems including conduct disorder and oppositional-defiant (对立反抗的)disorder. Researchers also suggest that the type of attachment displayed early in life can have a lasting effect on later adult relationships.
Psychologist Harry Harlow conducted an experiment on social isolation (孤立)in monkeys.Baby monkeys were separated from their mothers and placed with surrogate mother (代母). One mother was simply a wire armature (电枢)that held a bottle, while the other mother was covered with a soft terry cloth material. Harlow found that the baby monkeys would receive food from the wire mother, but preferred to spend most of their time with the soft mother. When compared to monkeys that had been raised by their birth mothers, the monkeys raised by surrogate mothers were shyer and more nervous and suffered from social and emotional problems.
All in all, developing secure and healthy attachments early in life is very important. Such attachments play a vital role in our future development

Caregiver Stress
Caregiver stress is the name for a type of stress that affects caregivers specifically. The sufferers tend to feel exhausted, get annoyed and even suffer from guilt. If you look after an elderly or disabled relative or friend and you are feeling burned out and depressed, then you might very well be suffering from caregiver stress and should look to get it addressed as soon as possible.
Caregiver stress is all too common. For most of us, looking after ourselves is stressful and tiring enough. If you then need to cook for your loved ones, help them to get dressed and take them to the doctor—everyday —you can end up exhausted. Briefly, those who care for others on a regular basis will be placed under intense demands on an ongoing basis. You might worry about your loved ones whenever they are left on their own. This then prevents you from doing the things you want to do, causes your own relationships and career to suffer and eats into your free time. There are even financial considerations that must be taken into account when looking after caregiver stress. On top of this, you might feel unappreciated and be arguing regularly with the person you’re caring for.
Is it any wonder that caregiver stress is such a big issue?
When you ask for advice from friends and loved ones, what you'll hear most commonly in all likelihood is that you should send them into a home, hire extra care or get more assistance from other family members. If you can do this, then you absolutely should, for the sake of both of you - especially if you are much stressed.
But while this advice sounds good in theory, it often is not that easy. Getting care can be very
expensive and some dependents will be resistant to the idea. If you can’t change the situation, then you need to acknowledge that you are experiencing caregiver stress and take measures to protect yourself. Setting clear boundaries can help a lot; so you can have honest and frank discussions with your dependent about why those boundaries are there. Find an outlet, whether it be a weekly hike in the woods or a gym session twice a week. Taking regular holidays is also important —and while you might feel stressed doing these things and your dependent might not like it, it is once again important for the health and safety of both you and your dependent. If you burn out, then you won’t be any use to them.
71.characterized 72. regularly 73. absence 74. robbed/short 75.Personal/Private 76. money/expense(s)/finances 77. grateful
78.arguments/quarrels 79. handle/manage/tackle/relieve 80. release
又结合固定搭配be characterized by, 由于不存在be featured by所以不可以填featured.
Briefly, those who care for others on a regular basis will be placed under intense demands on an ongoing basis. 这句话里面同义替换很多,on a regular basis 与正确答案regularly 题干中的take care of 与care for 同义替换,on an ongoing basis与for a long time 同义替换。

第73题这里应该和第二段的第四行,you might worry about your loved ones whenever they are left on their own.

第74题这里还是和第二段倒数第三行的eats into your free time同义替换,就是照顾者会没有自己的时间,所以是short of time and energy,注意,如果是lack的话,应该是you are lacking in time.
第75题这里和第二段的倒数第四行的prevent you from doing the things you want to do 同义替换,自己的事情没有时间做,用Personal / Private affairs.
第76题这里和第二段倒数第三行,there are even financial considerations ,也就是要考虑到金钱问题,应该是money 或者finances。

These days, if we’re not staring at our smart phones, we’re sitting in front of computers. And more than half of office workers have reported the symptoms of eyestrain. How do you protect yourself? The rapid advance of technology over the past two decades has meant that many of us spend a considerable portion of the day staring at screens, whether that’s our smart phone or our office computer. As a result, studies have shown that between 50% and 90% of office workers have eye strain or associated health issues such as eye-twitching, red eyes, headaches and fatigue. So, how can you make things easier on your eyes?
If you work on a computer every day, experts recommend having a eye exam at regular intervals to detect problems before they develop. During this test, you should tell the doctor how often you use your phone and your computer. You should also measure the amount of space from your eyes to your screen at work and tell your doctor, so your eyes can be tested at that distance.
The closer your phone/computer screen is to your eyes, the harder they have to work to focus. Studies on computer-related eye strain suggest that screens should be no closer than 40cm (16in) from your face. If this makes it hard for you to read, consider increasing the size of the text, rather than moving the screen closer.
Besides, it’s important to try to take regular breaks from staring dir ectly at a screen, to give your eyes a chance to rest and rehydrate. While surveys have shown that many office workers take no more than half an hour a day away from their computer, it’s recommended that you take a 15-minute break after every two hours spent at your screen, which in turn helps make your eyes comfortable.
Glare is the biggest causes of screen-related eye strain. You can reduce it by ensuring that you are using your phone or computer in a room where the lighting is bright enough. If your device is consistently brighter than your surroundings, this will lead to eye strain and fatigue. Something else that can help is an anti-glare screen filter on your monitor or phone. If you wear glasses, some experts recommend buying lenses with anti-reflective coatings.
You can also take steps to make your screen easier on your eyes, such as making the text larger, increasing your device’s refresh rate to ensure less flickering of the screen, and shifting the screen’s color levels away from the blue end of t he spectrum and towards the softer yellow end. This is important, because the retina(视网膜) contains blue-light-sensitive molecules; some studies have suggested that using screens with blue light constantly can damage the retina.
71.suffering 72.Ways 73.regular 74.frequency 75.distance 76.reduced
ing/reflected 78.screen 79.enlarge 80.exposure
第71题根据第一段第六行have eye strain or associated health issues提示,根据from可知使用suffer from+疾病,又因为lead to doing,故使用suffering。

第73题根据第二段第一行having an eye exam at regular intervals提示,翻译为定期做检察,
故转换为get regular eye tests。

第74题根据第二段第三行you should tell the doctor how often you use your phone and your computer提示,锁定关键词how often,故知该空考查的应该是“频率” ,故用frequency。

第75题根据第三段第二行screens should be no closer than 40cm (16in) from your face以及题干中at a (75)________ of 40cm,可知考查的是距离的固定搭配at a distance of,故应该用distance。

Glare is the biggest causes of screen-related eye strain. You can reduce it by ensuring that you are using your phone or computer in a room where the lighting is bright enough.

第78题根据最后一段首句,make your screen easier on your eyes与题干Make your (78)________ more eye-friendly相对应,故填screen

第80题根据最后一段最后一句using screens with blue light constantly can damage the retina.

The Science Behind Smiling
Not only does smiling reward our brain’s feel-good system, it also makes us look more attractive and lowers stress levels. In stressful situations, smiling is a great way to relieve extreme levels of stress and to keep your cortisol (皮质醇) levels under control.
Naturally, happiness can result in smiling. Also, smiling can actually create happiness. Smiling tricks our brains into believing we are happy, and one way it does this is by making us think of happier memories, which improve our moods.
When the smiling muscles in our face contract, it sends a signal to the brain to encourage the reward system that further increases our levels of endorphins, or happiness hormones (荷尔蒙). It can have the same effect on our happiness as eating chocolate or receiving a monetary prize.
Even though the exact relationship behind facial expression and mental state is largely unknown, it has been suggested that smiling reduces levels of the stress-inducing hormone cortisol. Increased levels of cortisol could potentially lead to cardiovascular disease, mental illness, and obesity, so it’s worth every e ffort to try to decrease our cortisol levels.
Research shows that when you smile, people treat you differently. Smiling instantly makes you appear more reliable, relaxed, sincere, and attractive. A study found that people who smiled more were rated as more attractive than those who avoided eye contact and didn’t smile at all.
Perhaps this is why celebrities (名人) invest in perfect smiles, often looking for porcelain veneers to give them flawlessly straight, white teeth. According to a cosmetic (化妆用的) dentistry practice in Boston, broken and stained teeth can make a person look older, while a brighter smile gives a look of health and youthfulness. Anyone you spot on television will more likely than not have a perfect smile. This gives them a youthful shine while at the same time making them look more attractive.
Smiling is an act that many of us may have to practice in order to make a regular habit. However, it’s a habit worth investing in, as smiling, happiness, and health have a scientifically proven link to one other. If you find it hard to smile, try being around people who tend to smile a lot. According to a Swedish study, it is difficult to keep a straight face when constantly faced with people who are smiling at you.

When 12-year-old Kamila Carter walked up to the platform with a beaming smile and greeted the audience, her calmness was amazing. Even more so was her fluent Chinese. The seventh grader from California, the United States, shared how she became multilingual at the 13th Confucius Institute Conference held in Cheng du, southwest China’s Sichuan Province, on December 4 and 5.
Seven years since her first Chinese class, Carter is a proficient (熟练的) speaker now who has won several prizes at the Chinese Bridge Competition (CBC), a worldwide Chinese proficiency contest for non-native speakers sponsored by the Beijing-based Confucius Institute Headquarters, or Hanban.
Hanban’s every year conference, a gathering of more than 1,500 people this year, included Chinese and foreign university presidents and representatives from Confucius Institutes all over the world. The event, called the Davos of education, offers educators an opportunity for sharing experiences and strengthening cooperation.
The friendship and trust built through Confucius Institutes provide a very good opportunity for jointly coping with future challenges and promoting world peace, he added.
Rebecca Nukuoro, who is majoring in public administration in the University of Zimbabwe in Harare, has been studying in the university’s Confucius Institute for a year. “T he Chinese language is of great importance as the Zimbabwean Government is involved in business with China. I feel I would be better equipped and greatly advantaged to have an extra language when I join the job market,” she told Beijing Review.
Deja Watkins, a senior at the George Mason University in Virginia, the United States, is juggling (兼顾) three majors: data science, international relations and Chinese. He started to learn Chine se when he was in high school, with the Chinese program sponsored by a Confucius Institute.
Confucius Institutes have helped to bring knowledge of the Chinese culture and language not only to university students, but to the community in general, said Roberto Lafontaine, Director of the Confucius Institute Latin America Regional Center in Santiago, Chile. The center was established in 2014 to coordinate (协调) and support the work of Confucius Institutes in the region.
In addition to promoting language learning, Confucius Institutes also engage in culture sharing.
At an event hosted by the UMCI in March, Zhang Rong, a young volunteer teacher from Shanghai Normal University, demonstrated Chinese calligraphy to two pre-teens and their guardians. She asked for the girls’ names, and then wrote the Chinese characters for the names with a brush pen, which made the girls excited.
Also during the event, locals experienced dumpling making, practicing martial arts, tying Chinese knots, and playing the guqin, a stringed Chinese musical instrument. Some watched a video featuring scenic spots in China.
At the annual Chinese Lunar New Year gala hosted by the UMCI in February, Zhang led a group of U.S. middle school students to perform a spirit-lifting horse-riding dance of the Mongolian ethnic group of China. The gala featuring poem reciting, singing, short plays, lion dancing, drum beating and other performances by students added a festive flavor to the cold winter in Columbia, drawing a big audience.
According to Hanban, in the past decade, Confucius Institutes and Confucius Classrooms worl dwide held 220,000 cultural activities, attracting 100 million participants.

This time of year, thousands of college applicants wait for e-notices and auspiciously(吉利地) sized envelopes from schools, under terrible pressure from their parents, friends, teachers, and themselves. As to this, I offer some advice, which c omes not only from a bit of experience, but also a bit of research: just cool out and continue, okay?
Many parents and students think there is a world of difference between the lifelong outcomes of an A-minus student who gets into, say. Princeton, and an A-minus student who applies to Princeton but “only” gets into some less selective school, like Penn State or the University of Wisconsin. They assume that a decision made by faceless Ivy League admissions officers, to some extent, will mark the difference between success and failure in life.
There are two important things to say about this stress. First, to put the anxiety into context, the kids applying to these schools are already doing quite well. Seventy percent of 29-year-olds。
