2021年浙江金华第一中学高三英语二模试卷及答案
第一部分阅读(共两节,满分40分)
第一节(共15小题;每小题2分,满分30分)
阅读下列短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项
A
“Why do I feel cold when I have a fever?” “Why does the sun rise in the east?” I knew the day would come when my little girl Sophie would learn to talk and inevitably (不可避免地) start askingthose questions. The questions themselves weren’t worrying me. I was actually looking forward to seeing where her curiosity would lie.
What was bothering (烦恼) me was whether or not I would know the answers. In the age of the smartphone, this may seem like a silly worry. The answers to almost everything would be just one Google away.
Still, I struggled with how I was going to prepare to become an all-knowing mother. Then one day, it struck me: I didn’t need to have all the answers. What a great example I could set if I let my daughter know that I, too, was still learning. And I realized how much more I could learn if I took another look at things I thought I already knew the answer to with the curiosity of a child. My little girl’s mind is a beginner’s mind--- curious, open to new ideas, eager to learn, and not based on knowledge that already exists. I decided that I would deal with her questions with a beginner’s mind, too.
Once I decided to become more curious, I started noticing that curiosity was becoming more important in the workplace, too. It seems that leaders don't need to have all the answers, but they do need to be curious.
Curious about curiosity, I searched for answers and found Albert Einstein’s famous words, “I have no special talent. I am only passionately (热情地) curious.” We mightquibble overthe view that Einstein had no special talent, but there is one thing for certain---he wouldn't have solved the puzzles of the universe without his passionate curiosity. Then I came across another Einstein quote, “The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason or existence.”
1. The advantage of having a beginner’s mind is that ________.
A. people can learn much faster.
B. people won't be afraid to make mistakes.
C. people are willing to receive new things.
D. people won't be expected to answer all questions.
2. What does the example of Einstein’s words show?
A. Einstein was passionate about curiosity.
B. Einstein’s quotes are very famous.
C. Curiosity is of great significance.
D. Curiosity is more necessary than talent.
3. What does the underlined phrase “quibble over” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A. Fight against.
B. Argue about.
C. Work out.
D. Agree with
B
The herd of elephants moving north after leaving the Xishuangbanna National Nature Reserve in Yunnan province has drawn widespread public attention, with tens of millions of people following its movement on TV programs and social media platforms.
But this is not because it’s the first time wild Asian Elephants have wandered away from their habitat and headed northward, but for only this time the herd has traveled more than 400 kilometers as far as Kunming. Photographs, videos and stories of the herd’s movement have sparked widespread discussions even overseas.
However, there is a need to go behind the “cute photos” and the seemingly “fantastic” event and identify the reasons why wild elephants are leaving their habitat, and find ways to establish harmonious human-animal relationship within habitats and the surrounding forests and human settlements. It is important to scientifically mark the limits of the habitats for elephants and other animals in Xishuangbanna and elsewhere in the country for ecological reasons as well.
Planting trees is a key and fundamental step toward restoration of nature. Yet long-term investment and a more scientific approach are needed to maintain the remaining forests as well as to extend the forest cover and strengthen conservation.
Nevertheless, tree cover alone doesn’t mean a suitable habitat for all animals, for different species need different types of vegetation to survive and breed. The elephant herd in Yunnan is a reminder that we have to scientifically conserve the existing forests and turn them into suitable habitats for different species of animals and birds, which will ultimately benefit humans.
More ambitious targets should be set to rebuild or improve the food chain, and measures taken to ensure forest resources help wildlife flourish, in order to establish a harmonious human-animal relationship.
Forests around the globe are still shrinking, particularly those in tropical and developing countries. The next decade therefore will be extremely important for the world’s forests and wildlife, and China can play a leading role in saving them by better protecting its forests and expanding its forest cover.
4. Why has the herd of elephants caused so much public interest?
A. There exist heated discussions in the whole country even overseas.
B. TV programs and social media platforms want to benefit from them.
C. They are the first wild Asian Elephants to leave their natural habitat.
D. The elephants has traveled a long distance and lived in harmony with humans.
5. What can we infer from the third paragraph about the “fantastic” event?
A. More research on the reasons behind the event is required.
B. Scientists need to limit the habitats for elephants and other animals.
C. People should find ways to have a good relationship with elephants.
D. There’s an urgent demand for detailed information about the elephants.
6. Which method is provided in the passage to restore nature?
A. Expanding the coverage of forest.
B. Getting the government’s policy support.
C. Bringing up various ways to protect the forests.
D. Offering more kinds of vegetation to all animals.
7. What does this event of elephants leaving their habitats remind us to do?
A. To set more goals to change the food chain.
B. To be aware of the situation of the existing forests.
C. To realize harmonious coexistence of human and nature.
D. To reduce the destruction of the forests around the globe.
C
AnOntarioteen is making waves by turning old fishing gear into new treasures. Since last year, Natalie, 15, hasbeen taking lost or thrown — away fishing nets and rope and transforming them into bracelets, rope art, mats, baskets and necklaces.
Last year, Natalie was working on an assignment for her science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) class. As part of the assignment, she learned about “ghost nets”, which are fishing nets that have been left or lost in the ocean by people who fish.
“They have huge effects on our environment. They can kill coral reefs and many animals,” said Natalie. “46 percent of the Pacific garbage is ghost gear.” The Great Pacific Garbage is a huge collection of trash floating in the Pacific Ocean betweenHawaiiandCalifornia.
Natalie told her mom she wanted to do something to help. She got in touch with a handful of charities, including the Sea Protection Society and Coastal Action.
After getting some shipments of ghost nets and rope from those organizations, Natalie, with the help of her family, started turning thediscardedgear into new artworks. “We've made bracelets, rope art, mats, baskets, and we've made necklaces, which also use beach glass in them,” she said. A cosmetic company's quirky(古怪的) video advert has backfired with customer saying they will refuse to buy its products.
Purcotton, the Chinese company owned by Winner Medical Co., released the video on Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok. The video starts with a woman walking along and being followed by a man who face is covered. Looking concerned, the woman produces a Purcotton wet wipe and removes his makeup. When the man taps her shoulder, she turns out and a man's face is shown.
"What’s up, brother?” asks the woman, in a manly voice. Vomiting sounds and visual effects have been added.
More than 3,000 commented, mainly offended by how acceptable the video is, stated it’s appalling that they should normalize stalking(骚扰). A female Weibo user said it was really not funny that a woman’s looks were being made fun.
China Women’s News condemned Purcotton and comment that the video was full of bias, gender stereotypes and ignorance.
Purcotton has withdrawn the video and apologized for the discomfort caused to women, saying future advertising content will be strict examined.
第二节书面表达(满分25分)
52.阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。

Last night, my partner John and I went to the levees (堤岸) where I was relearning how to run. He supported on his bike and I went as fast or as slow as my old legs wanted to take me. Ahead of us was a very old man with a plastic bag who seemed to be unable to walk a straight line. John said, “You keep running, and I will check on him.”
John was holding his hand. John told the man, “We are going to come back this way. If you are still here, we will check on you.” The man said he was fine but he was going to stay down for a bit. He was on the ground at the bottom of the levee and off a walkway that backed up into other people’s homes. We ran on for 10-15 minutes or so and turned around.
John rode ahead to see if he was still there. When I got to the spot, there was John and the man. The man didn’t look fine — he was stumbling (蹒跚而行) around and seemed lost.
The man in the meantime tried to climb up the levee and fell again and as he sat there, I walked down. I said, “Hi, my name is Mia, what’s your name?” He laughed and looked at me. I said light-heartedly, “I am relearning how to run. I didn’t realize it was so difficult.” He said, “Oh my son and I run too — yeah it’s not always easy.”
It was starting to get dark. Turns out the man’s name was John also. I said, “Shall we walk together, John?” He said, “Okay.” He didn’t want me to grab his hand or arm to help him, so I said, “I’ll just stand by you if that is okay.” “That’s okay,” he said.
We walked down the levee together with John riding behind. Through our walk he swerved (急转弯) from either side of the levee — I stayed calm and moved to either side casually trying not to look like I was blocking.
