英语练习小对话
Person A: Hey, how's it going?
Person B: Not bad, just trying to improve my English. How about you?
Person A: Same here! I've been watching English movies to practice my listening skills.
Person B: That's a great idea. I've been reading English books to expand my vocabulary.
Person A: Oh, what book are you reading now?
Person B: I'm currently reading "To Kill a Mockingbird" by Harper Lee. It's a classic.
Person A: I've heard of that one. It's supposed to be very thought-provoking. What's it about?
Person B: It's about a young girl named Scout Finch and her brother Jem, and their father, a lawyer named Atticus. The story deals with serious issues like racial injustice and moral growth, all set in the American South during the 1930s.
Person A: Sounds intense. I think I'll add it to my reading list. By the way, how do you feel about your English speaking skills?
Person B: I think I've improved a lot, but I still make mistakes. What about you?
Person A: I agree with you. I've noticed that the more I speak, the more comfortable I become. But sometimes I still struggle with idiomatic expressions.
Person B: Idioms can be tricky. I find that using them in context helps me understand their meanings better.
Person A: That's a good tip. Maybe we could practice using them in our conversations.
Person B: I'd like that. Let's start with one. "Break the ice" is a common idiom. Do you know what it means?
Person A: Yes, it means to start a conversation in a friendly way, especially in a situation where people are shy or don't know each other well.
Person B: Exactly! Let's try to use it in a sentence. How about you go first?
Person A: Sure. "When I met my new neighbors, I broke the ice by asking about their recent move."
Person B: Nice! Here's mine: "At the networking event, the host broke the ice by sharing a funny story about his first job."
Person A: That's a good one. It sounds like you're getting the hang of it.
Person B: Thanks! I think practicing with a friend makes a big difference. What do you think we should focus on next?
Person A: Maybe we could work on our pronunciation. I've heard that the English 'th' sound is difficult for non-native speakers.
Person B: That's a great idea. Let's start practicing right now. How about the word "weather"?
Person A: "Weather"... got it. I think I've been pronouncing it correctly, but I'll pay more attention to the 'th' sound.
Person B: Me too. It's important to get the right sound, especially in words that are commonly used.
Person A: Absolutely. Well, this has been a productive conversation. Let's do this again soon.
Person B: Definitely. It's been fun practicing with you.
Until next time!
End of Dialogue。
