思维品质作为英语学科核心素养之一,包括分析、推理、判断、理性表达以及运用英语进行多元思维活动等方面的能力。

本文试着从阅读前、阅读中、阅读后三个环节谈谈在培养学生的思维品质方面的一些探索性的做法。

一、读前环节:巧设问题,走近教材,激活思维利用free talk导入新课是阅读教学中比较常用的方法,它可以激活学生原有的知识储备,也可以帮助老师自然地引出学习主题。

但是我们应当注意free talk 环节中问题的设计不仅要能激发学生的学习兴趣,还要能最大程度地启发学生根据已有知识和经验进行发散思维。

以五年级上册Our animal friends一课为例,在free talk 环节中有老师这样设计了三个问题Do you like animals? What animals do you like? Which animal is your friend? 这三个问题虽然也能让学生进行思考,但对于五年级学生来讲问题过于简单,学生思考的深度不够。

比如第一个问题Do you like animals?学生不加思索地就能回答,没有思考的过程,更像是句型的练习。

第二个问题What do you like?学生很容易就会想到我喜欢狗,猫,鱼等,这个问题只会让学生回顾学过的单词,是没有思维含金量的问题,尽管学生们踊跃回答,课堂氛围看似热烈,但学生的思维积极性并没有被充分调动起来,学生根本没有条件进行思维的发散,长此下去学生的思维能力得不到培养。

如果我们对这三个问题稍做改动:Do you like animals? Why? Do you have an animal friend? Which animal is your friend? Can you describe it for us ?这样问题的难度加大了,学生思维的深度也上升了一个台阶。
