1Helping Others in Need: My Experience Volunteering at City Children's HospitalAs an energetic middle school student, I have to admit that I didn't really think too much about volunteering or helping others before this year. I was mostly focused on my studies, spending time with friends, and various after-school activities. However, all of that changed when my English teacher announced a class project where we had to complete 20 hours of community service. At first, I wasn't too thrilled about giving up my free time, but after some research, I decided to volunteer at City Children's Hospital. Little did I know how profound andlife-changing that experience would be.I clearly remember my first day stepping through the doors of the hospital. The atmosphere was a bit somber, but there was also a sense of hope lingering in the air. I checked in at the front desk and was given my official volunteer badge and assignment – I would be helping out in the pediatric cancer unit. A knotbegan to form in my stomach as I made my way to the elevator. I had never been around children dealing with such serious illnesses before. How would I act? What would I say? Would they be afraid of me?Those worries quickly melted away when I arrived at the vibrant play area decorated with colorful walls, endless toys and games, and most importantly, the smiling faces of the resilient children. A kind volunteer coordinator named Emily greeted me and gave me a brief orientation about policies, procedures, and tips for interacting with the young patients. She emphasized treating them just like other kids, avoiding touchy subjects, andmost of all, just being a friend to help uplift their spirits. With an encouraging pat on the back, Emily sent me off to join the fun.At first, I just silently observed as the other volunteers danced with the kids, played games, did arts and crafts, and simply hung out talking and laughing like long-lost friends. Seeing the pure joy on those children's faces despite the challenges they were facing was astounding. Eventually, a shy little girl named Lily worked up the courage to ask me to color with her. As we spent the next hour chatting, swapping silly jokes, and bringing her illustrations to life, I realized that these kidswere more than just patients – they were brave warriors fighting the biggest battles.Week after week, I immersed myself more into the routines and personalities of the unit. There was always a new game to play, a different craft to create, a dance party to join, and infinite laughter and fun to share. I grew especially close with Lily and looked forward to our coloring sessions where we'd catch up and she'd fill me in on all the latest drama stories from the playroom. I'd be lying if I said there weren't some heartbreaking moments seeing how exhausted and ill some of the kids would get from their treatments. However, their unwavering courage, joy and appreciation for life's smallest wonders constantly inspired me.Looking back at those 20 hours I spent volunteering, I can't begin to express how grateful I am for the experience. It opened my eyes to the harsh realities that these strong children face every single day. It allowed me to explore the power of compassion, empathy and using my own healthy body and mind to spread positivity and light during dark times. Most importantly though, it taught me the real magic of childhood - the ability to find fun, laughter and happiness even when the world seems determined to extinguish that innocent spark. From this experience, I've gained a deep respect and admiration for all the children I met and the incredibly caring staff, volunteers and family members who surrounded them with love, support and expert care. I now understand that pediatric illnesses don't just impact the child, butripple through entire families causing unimaginable emotional, physical and financial stress. Yet in the midst of it all, these kids still colored, played, danced and smiled with the same bright light as any other child their age. Their resilience was contagious and pushed me to live with more gratitude, positivity and appreciation for each healthy day I'm given. As I look ahead, I know this experience has instilled a lifelong passion for helping others, especially children in need. I aim to continue volunteering and getting involved with children's causes and hospitals in any way I can through high school, college, and beyond. A smile, a laugh, a listening ear – those simple acts of kindness can make a world of difference to a child fighting serious illness. While I may not have the power to cure diseases or ailments, I can offer friendship, comfort and reminders that childhood joys still exist even during the darkest of days. It's a seemingly small role, but one that I'm proud and grateful to play.So to anyone considering getting involved with pediatric hospital volunteering, I cannot recommend it enough. It's a chance to gain perspective, appreciate the small things in life, challenge yourself to be selfless, and most importantly, spread some light and laughter to some of the bravest warriors you'll ever meet. Every child deserves to experience the unstoppable force of joy that makes childhood so special, even if just for a fleeting moment thanks to a new friend stopping by to play. That's the greatest prescription of all - and one that I'll keep refilling for years to come.篇2My Experience Volunteering at the Children's HospitalWhen my English teacher told our class that we needed to complete 20 hours of community service this semester, I have to admit I wasn't too thrilled about it at first. The idea of spending my free time doing volunteer work just didn't seem very appealing. However, my best friend Jenny was really excited about it and convinced me to volunteer at the children's hospital with her. I'm so glad she did, because it ended up being an incredibly rewarding experience that I'll never forget. On our first day, we had to attend an orientation session at the hospital to learn about all the rules and policies for volunteers. The staff emphasized how important it was to be gentle, patient and caring with the young patients, many of whom were dealing with serious illnesses or injuries. They warned us that some kids might be feeling scared, anxious or sad, so we needed to be understanding and do our best to cheer them up. I could tell this was going to be a bigger responsibility than I initially thought. After the orientation, Jenny and I were assigned to the pediatric cancer ward. As we walked onto the unit, my heart sank a little. I saw children as young as 4 or 5 years old, lying in hospital beds with no hair and IVs hooked up to them. Some were visibly very frail and sick. In that moment, it really hit me how terrible childhood cancer is and how unimaginably difficult it must be for those kids and their families. I felt a newfound appreciation for my own health and couldn't believe how brave and strong these young patients were. Our main job as volunteers was to visit the patient rooms and try to provide a friendly face, some companionship, and opportunities for play or fun activities. On that first day, Jenny and I went room to room, introducing ourselves and asking thekids if they'd like us to read them a book, play a board game or video game, do crafts or puzzles, or just sit and chat with them. Some were too sick or tired to engage much, which was understandable. But many of them desperately craved stimulation, interaction and a break from the monotonous routine of lying in that hospital bed day after day.One patient who quickly became a favorite of mine was7-year-old Timmy. Despite going through aggressive chemotherapy, he always had the biggest smile and loved joking around with us. We'd play endless rounds of Go Fish and Lucky Candies, and he'd crack us up with his silly comments. His joyful spirit and sense of humor were so heartwarming and inspiring. Another week, we met 10-year-old Lily who taught Jenny and me some amazing magic tricks when we visited her room. It was incredible to see her bright, engaging personality shine through despite the challenging circumstances.Of course, not every interaction was positive or uplifting. There were many quiet, somber moments sitting by the bedsides of very ill children, not saying much, but just being there to provide comfort. A few times, a child was so distraught from fear, pain or bad news that the nurses asked us to leave and come back another time. Those were the difficult moments that mademe realize children's hospitals desperately need volunteers and support staff to help lift the mood and be a friendly, reassuring presence. In between patient visits, there were other tasks we helped out with too. We'd restock and organize playrooms and teen lounges, help with arts and crafts activities, distribute toys, books or games to patients, and sometimes even feed or rock fussy babies in the nursery. Every Thursday night, we'd make and hand out popsicles to patients and siblings in the waiting rooms, which was a nice little treat for them. The more time I spent there, the more I grew attached to so many of the brave children and enjoyed being a positive part of their journey. I was constantly inspired by their perseverance, optimism and appreciation for even the smallest joys like new art supplies, a fresh-baked cookie or a fun game. Despite facing struggles that would be unimaginable for most adults, these kids fought hard every single day with incredible resilience. My experience taught me so many valuable lessons. I have a deeper empathy for what patients and families go through during extended hospital stays. I understand how important the environment and human interaction can be to a child's wellbeing and recovery. Most of all, I witnessed the power of a positivemindset and how maintaining hope, cheerfulness and a spirit of playfulness could energize those kids and help them push through immensely difficult situations. In our final week, a new kid named Thomas was admitted to the cancer unit and his family was clearly very scared and overwhelmed with his diagnosis and tough journey ahead. When I went in to introduce myself, his little sister immediately ran up and excitedly told me all about her favorite books and toys. In that moment, I realized my role as a volunteer - to provide a positive distraction, a semblance of normalcy, and a reminder that there are simple joys and reasons to smile even in the darkest of times. As I spent more and more hours on that unit, what initially felt like an obligation became a cherished experience that profoundly impacted me. Yes, I completed the 20 community service hours for my English requirement. But more importantly, I gained incredible respect and admiration for healthcare workers, kids battling illnesses, and the importance of supporting your community. My time at that children's hospital will stay with me forever and has inspired me to continue giving back through volunteering as I get older. An experience I oncedreaded turned out to be one of the most meaningful of my life so far.篇3Visiting the Children's Hospital: A Heartwarming ExperienceAs I walked through the doors of Metropolitan Children's Hospital last Saturday, I wasn't sure what to expect. My mom had signed us up to volunteer for the day, helping keep the young patients company and lifting their spirits however we could. I'll admit, I was a bit nervous at first. How do you cheer up really sick kids? What if I say the wrong thing? But any apprehension I felt quickly melted away after meeting the first few children. The hospital had set up an activity room where kids could come to take a break from their normal routines. Arts and crafts supplies were scattered across several tables, and a whole cart was filled with board games and children's books. A TV in the corner played a classic Disney movie that I remembered loving when I was younger. Despite the televisions, games, and other distractions, the room had a subdued, almost somber feeling when we arrived. That changed as soon as the child life specialists introduced us as the volunteers for the day.One little girl, who couldn't have been more than 5 or 6 years old, immediately perked up and rushed over to grab my hand. "Hi! I'm Emma. Do you want to color with me?" She had a bald head, face flushed from treatment, but the biggest, brightest smile you can imagine. How could I refuse? We spent the next hour coloring pictures of unicorns and kittens, chatting about each other's favorite cartoons and what we wanted to be when we grew up. Emma said she wanted to be a doctor so she could "make other kids like me all better!"As the morning went on, more and more children trickled into the activity room, and soon it was filled with a wonderful, rambunctious energy. My initial worries about what to say or do completely dissipated. These were just kids being kids, the same as any other. Sure, they were going through tremendous challenges, dealing with frightening illnesses that no child should ever have to face. But in that moment, they weren't "cancer kids" or "patients." They were just children, eager to play, laugh, and temporarily forget about their medical struggles.I got roped into endless rounds of Candy Land, did my best to help with arts and crafts projects that tried my meager artistic abilities, and even learned a few new games along the way. My friend Jessica and I took turns reading aloud from picture books, putting on ridiculous voices for the various characters that had the kids in stitches. We answered seemingly millions of questions, everything from "How old are you?" to biological queries about the human body that left us scratching our heads!Around lunchtime, a special guest showed up – one of the hospital's therapy dog teams! A gentle golden retriever named Buddy waddled around, greeted by a chorus of delighted squeals from the kids. I've never seen a room full of such joy as the children took turns sweetly petting Buddy, who seemed to just eat up all the affection. Emma made sure to introduce me to her new "puppy friend." For those few minutes, you could see the kids completely forgetting about their illnesses and treatments as they snuggled with Buddy.Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye in the early afternoon as the children went off for various appointments or tests. But I could see the impact even our few hours of volunteering had on them - they left the room with big smiles, laughing and clutching their art projects and new books. The weight of their conditions seemed just a little bit lighter in those moments. And for me, the experience was just as rewarding and meaningful. As I think back on that day at the hospital, I'm struck by the incredible resilience and positivity of the kids I met. Yes, they'regoing through unimaginable challenges. They facelife-threatening illnesses and painful treatments that are unfair at any age, let alone childhood. And yet, there they were - smiling, laughing, and finding joy in the simplest of activities. A craft project, a fun picture book, or even just a few minutes petting a therapy dog allowed them to forget their struggles and just be kids again. Their strength is nothing short of amazing and incredibly humbling.Meeting those children and seeing firsthand their ability to stay positive and appreciative despite everything has changed my whole perspective. I realize how lucky I am to be healthy, how much I took for granted before. It's easy to get weighed down by school stress, friend drama, or other issues that now seem so trivial in comparison. But seeing those kids fight throughlife-threatening illnesses with smiles on their faces was a powerful reminder about what's truly important – embracing life and cherishing every moment.I left the hospital that day feeling grateful for my health and inspired by the perseverance of the children I met. While so many of them face scarier situations than I can imagine, they still manage to find reasons to laugh, make jokes, and approach each day with such bravery and optimism. I have a newfoundappreciation for the challenges they deal with, as well as the incredible work nurses, doctors, child life specialists and others do to support these kids through their difficult journeys. This experience has cemented my passion for volunteering and desire to keep helping others in whatever way I can. I can't wait to go back to the children's hospital to spend more time with the incredible kids there. Their indomitable spirits and ability to stay positive and find happiness through incredibly dark times has deeply touched me. These kids are the real heroes and the greatest source of inspiration. I feel honored to have met them and played a small part in helping them forget their struggles for even just a few hours. It was the most meaningful, rewarding day I've had in a very long time.。

Are there figures—people? What are they doing?Or is it a landscape…or an abstract representation of something?Tell what the subject is,and what aspects are emphasized in the painting. This will give your reader an overview of what the work looks like before you analyze it.The next part of your paper—the actual formal analysis—will be the longest and most important section of your paper, where you describe and analyze individual design elements. For this portion of the paper, you're going to rely on the notes you took at the museum, because you should be able to describe in detail the design elements the artist uses, and how they are used. For example, does the artist use harsh lines or soft lines—are the colors bright or muted?Focus on the design elements that you feel are most strongly represented in that particular work of art. And if you don't know where to begin, take note of where your eye goes first. Then describe things in the order in which your eye moves around the work. This will help you understand how one part relates to another—the interaction between the different parts of the work.OK,this kind of analysis should occur throughout the main portion of the paper. In the last section of your paper—and this goes beyond formal analysis—you comment on the significance of what you have seen. What details of the work convey meaning? Some significant details will not be apparent to you right away, but if you look long enough, you realize how important they are for your interpretation of the work. Many years ago,I was writing a formal analysis of a painting of a little boy.In the painting,a little boy was standing in his nursery, and he was holding a toy bird in his hand, and there were more toys around him in the background of the painting. Because of the bird he was holding,I assumed at first that the painting was about the innocence of children. But as I looked at the painting longer,I realized that the boy's eyes looked sad even though there was no discernable expression on his face. And then it dawned on me that, even though he was surrounded by toys,he was all alone in his nursery. The boy's eyes were a significant detail in the painting, that I didn't notice at first.题目1.What point does the professor make about the writing of a formal analysis in art history?A.Its objective is to identify common features of several works of art.B.Its most important part is the explanation of an artwork's significance.C.Several styles of writing a formal analysis are used by art historians.D.A particular approach is required to present Information about an artwork.2.According to the professor, what will students need to do before writing the art history paper?A.Look at examples of formal analysis in textbooksB.Take notes on the artwork they will write aboutC.Go to different museums before selecting a topic for the paperD.Study the historical context of the artwork they will write about3.Why does the professor mention an English class?A.To explain the difference between visual language and written languageB.To explain that students need good writing skills for their assignmentC.To point out similarities between a poetry paper and the students'assignmentD.To point out that many art historians become writers4.What does the professor recommend as a way to understand the relationship between different parts of an artwork?A.Looking for lines that connect different parts of the workB.Examining the artwork from several different anglesC.Looking for similar colors the artist used throughout the workD.Determining how the viewer's eyes move around the work5.Why does the professor talk about his own experience analyzing the painting of a little boy?A.To point out a common misconception about formal analysisB.To stress the importance of looking at an artwork thoroughlyC.To show why a formal analysis should not emphasize small detailsD.To provide an example of an artwork that is easy to analyze6.The professor describes three sections the art history paper should contain.Place them in the order in which they should appear in the paper.Click on a phrase. Then drag it to the space where it belongs.A.Analysis of the design elements the artist usesB.Discussion of the meaning of the artworkC.Summary of the appearance of the artwork答案D B C D B CAB译文旁白:下面听一段艺术史课程的片段。

讲述自己的志愿者经历简略英语作文全文共5篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Super Fun Volunteer DayHi everyone! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. I'm in 5th grade at Oakwood Elementary School. Today I want to tell you all about the really cool volunteer work I did last weekend. It was so much fun and I can't wait to do it again! On Saturday morning, my mom woke me up bright and early.I was pretty sleepy since it was the weekend, but she said we were going to volunteer that day to help out at a local animal shelter. I love animals so I got really excited! We had some breakfast and then headed over to the shelter. When we got there, there were a bunch of other kids and families waiting outside. A nice lady named Mrs. Thompson came out and said she was going to show us what to do. She worked at the animal shelter and was in charge of the volunteers for the day.First, she took us inside and showed us where all the doggy kennels were. There were so many cute puppies and dogs there! They were barking and wagging their tails, seeming really happy to see us. Mrs. Thompson said our job was to play with the dogs, pet them, brush them, and just give them some love and attention for a little while. My mom and I went over to this one kennel that had the sweetest golden retriever inside named Buddy. As soon as we opened the gate, he came bouncing over and gave me a huge doggy kiss right on the face! His tail was wagging a million miles an hour. I spent the next hour just petting Buddy, throwing a tennis ball for him to fetch, and brushing his beautiful golden fur. He seemed to really enjoy all the attention and playtime. After we spent some time with the dogs, Mrs. Thompson took us over to another room where they had lots of cats in cages. Just like with the dogs, our job was to take the cats out, pet them, play with them using cat toys, and make sure they felt loved. I got to hang out with an orange tabby cat named Garfield. At first he was a little shy, but after a while he started purring and rubbing against me when I would pet his soft fur.We spent a couple more hours just going back and forth between the dog kennels and the cat room. I probably played with 10 different dogs and cats that morning! It was the best time ever. All the animals were so cute, sweet and fun. I could tellthey really appreciated us volunteering and giving them some much-needed playtime, cuddles and treats.Around lunchtime, we had to start cleaning up and getting ready to go home. It was kind of sad to leave because I wanted to keep playing with the animals! But Mrs. Thompson said we could come back again next month to volunteer some more. I gave Buddy and Garfield one last hug and scratch behind the ears before leaving. On the drive home, I felt so happy inside. Spending the morning playing with all those lovable dogs and cats was just the greatest experience ever. I loved making them feel special and giving them attention when they're stuck in a shelter without a permanent home. My mom said she was really proud of me for volunteering my time to help out.I seriously can't wait to go back next month! Mrs. Thompson said they're always looking for volunteers, especially kids, to come hang out with the animals. It's so fun but it also makes such a big difference for those homeless pets waiting to get adopted. Getting to see all their sweet furry faces light up with happiness when you play with them is the most awesome feeling. If you love animals like I do, I super duper recommend looking for a way to volunteer at your local animal shelter or rescue. You get to make a whole bunch of new furry friends while doing an amazing thing to help out animals in need. It's a fantastic way to spend a weekend and I'm definitely going to keep on volunteering as much as I can! That's my story about being an animal shelter volunteer for a day. It was the best experience ever and I hope you'll consider doing something similar yourself. Giving back is important, but it's also crazy fun – you get to play with puppies and kittens all day! What could be better than that? Thanks for reading, and get out there and volunteer! Let me know if you do and what it was like. See you next time!篇2My Volunteering ExperienceHi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you all about the time I did some volunteering. It was a really cool experience and I learned a lot!It all started a few months ago when my teacher, Miss Jones, told our class that we were going to do a volunteering project. She said volunteering means you help other people out withoutgetting paid. You just do it because you want to be nice and make the world a little bit better.Miss Jones gave us a few different options for places we could volunteer. One was a animal shelter, one was a food bank that gives food to people who don't have enough, and one was a nursery home for old people who can't live on their own anymore. I really love animals so I picked the animal shelter right away!A couple weeks later, it was time for our field trip to the animal shelter. We took a bus to get there and when we arrived, this nice lady named Sarah gave us a tour. The shelter had so many dogs and cats! They had kennels and cages set up in rooms and it kind of smelled like pet food and pets if you know what I mean.Sarah showed us where the animals eat and sleep. She said some of them were rescued from owners who couldn't take care of them anymore. Others were found abandoned or lost with no owners. The shelter's job is to take care of the animals until someone adopts them and gives them a forever home. After the tour, Sarah split us up into groups and gave us different jobs to do. My group's job was to help clean out the cat cages and put fresh litter, food and water in them. At first I was alittle nervous because some of the cats looked grumpy. But Sarah showed me how to do it properly so the cats wouldn't get spooked. It was kind of smelly work, but I didn't mind too much. The cats were super cute, especially the little kittens! While I was cleaning, I made sure to pet the cats and play with them a little. I didn't want them to be scared of me. My favorite was an orange tabby cat who was very friendly and cuddly. The other groups did jobs like walking the dogs, brushing the dog's fur to keep them clean, organizing donated pet supplies like toys and beds, and cleaning up the shelter grounds outside. We were having a lot of fun, but we were also helping out a lot which felt really good.At lunchtime, the shelter provided us with pizza which was amazing! We all sat outside on the grass to eat. Sarah got a chance to tell us more about how the shelter works. She said they rely a lot on volunteers and donations from people to keep running. Without help, they couldn't take care of all the animals. After lunch we did a few more hours of our jobs. By the end of the day I was pretty tired! But I also felt really happy and proud. I knew that I had helped make things a little bit easier forthe animals at the shelter that day. Maybe I even helped some of them get closer to finding their forever homes too.On the bus ride back to school, Miss Jones had us all go around and say what we thought about the volunteering experience. Everyone said some version of "It was hard work, but fun and rewarding!" I agreed. Yeah, cleaning up after animals all day was kind of smelly and tiring. But I'm really glad I did it because I was helping a good cause.Since then, I've gone back to volunteer at the animal shelter a few more times with my parents. I'd love to get even more experience because working with animals is one of my biggest passions. Who knows, maybe one day I'll have a job at place just like that shelter! For now though, I'm just happy I get to volunteer and help out in my own small way.Volunteering taught me that it feels really good to help others, even if you're just a kid. The animals at the shelter needed me, and I showed up to make their lives a little bit better. If you ever get a chance to volunteer, I think you definitely should! You'll feel proud of yourself and you'll be making the world a little bit better too. What could be better than that?篇3My Very Fun Volunteer TimeHi there! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. I just had the most amazing experience being a volunteer and I can't wait to tell you all about it!A few months ago, my teacher Mrs. Patterson told our class that we could sign up to volunteer at a local animal shelter for a few Saturdays. I loved the idea right away because I'm totally obsessed with animals of all kinds - dogs, cats, bunnies, hamsters, you name it! I put my name down on the sign-up sheet straight away. The first Saturday, a bunch of us met at the shelter bright and early. A super nice lady named Jessica gave us all green volunteer t-shirts to wear and showed us around. The shelter had so many animals there - there were lots of dog kennels, big cat rooms, and even a small room for bunnies and guinea pigs. I couldn't wait to get started!Jessica told us we'd be helping by playing with the animals, feeding them, cleaning their areas, and showing them to families who might want to adopt a pet. Then she split us up into groups to work in different areas. My group got assigned to the dog kennels and I was so excited! We went into this big room that had all the dog kennels along the walls. The lady working there told us we could take the dogs out on leashes, one at a time, and play with them in the fenced-in yard area outside. She showed us how to carefully get them out of the kennels and put the leashes on.The first dog I took out was this funny little terrier named Scruffy. He was so hyper and couldn't stop running around and jumping on me! I gave him lots of belly rubs and threw a tennis ball for him to chase after. Scruffy definitely had a ton of energy! After Scruffy, I spent time with a sweet older labrador retriever lady named Sadie. Sadie was much calmer than Scruffy and just wanted to lie in the sunshine and be petted. Her fur was so soft and she'd roll over so I could rub her belly. I felt bad that Sadie was at the shelter because she seemed like such a good, loving dog.We also got to fill up the dogs' food and water bowls that day. I loved walking up and down the aisles, seeing all the pups' personalities. Some were barking like crazy when they saw me coming with the food, while others were just calmly sitting and waiting. A few didn't seem interested in the food at all because they just wanted pets and attention instead!Cleaning out the kennels wasn't my favorite job, but I knew it was important to keep things clean and nice for the animals. We had to scoop out any messes and change the bedding and blankets. It was kind of smelly work but I didn't mind doing it to help out the doggies. After we were done for the day, Jessica brought us back together and we went around sharing our favorite moments from volunteering that morning. I talked about how much I loved giving belly rubs to Sadie and seeing Scruffy's funny hyper personality. Some kids saw kittens getting adopted which made them really happy. The next few Saturdays were more of the same - I spent my time in the dog kennels again, caring for and playing with the furry residents. I got to know their personalities and which treats they liked best. I even taught a young pitbull named Bingo a few tricks like shaking hands and rolling over!On my last day, a wonderful family adopted Sadie, the sweet labrador I'd spent so much time with. I was sad to see her go but so thrilled that she'd found her forever home at last. The family seemed perfect for her - two kids around my age and parents who couldn't wait to shower Sadie with love and affection. I gaveSadie one final belly rub before they took her home and made her promise to be a good girl.Volunteering at the animal shelter was honestly one of the most fun things I've ever gotten to do. I loved getting to interact with all the cats, dogs, and other creatures while helping to take care of them too. It definitely made me appreciate how much work it is to run a shelter and care for so many animals every single day.It also really opened my eyes to how many animals need a loving, permanent home. Before this, I never really thought about animal shelters or why pets end up there. But now I understand that lots of great furry friends just need a family to adopt them. I'm so glad the families who came in were able to meet some amazing dogs and cats during my volunteer days.I for sure want to keep volunteering at the shelter over my future school breaks. Maybe next time I'll get assigned to the cat rooms instead! Or perhaps I'll try walking the dogs instead of just playing with them in the yards. There's still so much more for me to learn and do.If you're an animal lover like me, I can't recommend volunteering enough. You'll have such an awesome time giving love and care to deserving pets while they're waiting to find theirforever families. It feels wonderful to make a difference in an animal's life, even if just for a few hours. And who knows - you might even bring home a new furry friend for yourself if you fall in love like I did with Sadie and the gang! Let me know if you decide to volunteer too. Whichever animals you work with, I just know you'll have as great an experience as I did.篇4My Volunteer ExperienceHi, my name is Emily and I'm going to tell you about the time I was a volunteer. It was a really cool experience!Last summer, my mom signed me up to volunteer at the local animal shelter. I love animals so I was really excited. On the first day, I went with my mom to the shelter and we met Miss Karen, who worked there. She was really nice and showed us around. The shelter had lots of dogs and cats living there. Some were in cages or kennels, and some got to roam around in the pet areas. Miss Karen said the shelter took in animals that didn't have homes, and tried to find new families to adopt them.My main job as a volunteer was to help take care of the animals. In the mornings, I would fill up food and water bowls forall the dogs and cats. I had to be really careful not to get my fingers near their mouths when I put the bowls in their cages! A couple times some dogs tried to nip at my fingers because they were hungry. After feeding time, I got to play with the animals and give them attention and exercise. We would take the dogs out to a fenced-in yard and play fetch or just let them run around. The cats had a big room where they could climb on cat trees and explore. I really liked cuddling the cats and petting them. Their purrs made me feel so happy!Cleaning up after the animals was probably the least fun part of the job. I had to scoop out all the litter boxes and refill them with fresh litter. It was pretty smelly! I also swept up fur and mopped the floors in the pet areas. It was kind of gross but I knew it was important to keep things clean for the animal's health.Sometimes, families would come in who wanted to adopt a new pet. Miss Karen would let me help show them around and introduce them to different animals. If a dog or cat seemed to like the family, she might let them take it out to the yard or cat room to interact more. It was so heartwarming when an animal finally found its forever home! One of my favorite memories was when a litter of puppies came in. They were only a few weeks old and so tiny and cute! We had to bottle feed them every few hours. Holding those warm, squirmy little puppies and watching them drink their milk was just the sweetest thing ever. Even when they accidentally peed on me, I didn't even care!Being a volunteer was a lot of work, but it was also a lot of fun. I felt really good about helping to take care of those animals while they waited for new homes. I got to play with dogs and cuddle cats every day! What could be better than that for an animal lover like me?I think volunteering at places like animal shelters is a great thing for kids to do. You learn responsibility from having to stick to a schedule and complete your tasks. But you also get exposed to real-life situations, like seeing how some animals get abandoned or abused by bad owners. It made me want to grow up to be someone who is kind to animals and speaks up for their rights.Volunteering was hard work for sure, but it was worth it to make a difference. By the end of summer, dozens of dogs and cats had found loving new families thanks to the shelter.Knowing I got to play a small part in that made me feel proud. I definitely want to volunteer at the shelter again next year!Even though I'm just a kid, I think it's important for everyone to volunteer when they can. It feels good to help others and your community. You might even make some new animal friends along the way! If you get the chance to volunteer somewhere, I totally recommend going for it. Just be prepared to work hard and maybe get a little slobbery!篇5My Volunteer ExperienceHi, my name is Emma and I am 10 years old. I want to tell you about the time I was a volunteer. It was a really fun and good experience!Last summer, my mom asked me if I wanted to volunteer at the animal shelter for a few weeks. I love animals so I said yes! The animal shelter takes care of dogs and cats that don't have homes until they can find new families to adopt them.On my first day, I was a little nervous but also excited. The lady who worked there showed me around. There were lots of dogs in kennels barking and wagging their tails. And there werecats in cages meowing and sleeping. The shelter smelled like animal fur and kibble. My main job as a volunteer was to help take care of the dogs. In the mornings, I had to clean out their kennels by scooping out any poop and changing the bedding and water bowls. At first I thought it would be gross, but it wasn't that bad. The hardest part was getting the dogs to be still so I could clean without them jumping on me!After cleaning, I got to take the dogs outside to the big fenced-in yard to play. This was my favorite part! The dogs would run around chasing toys and I would throw tennis balls for them to catch. We played fetch and tug-of-war. The dogs loved getting outdoor time and exercise after being cooped up in their kennels. I loved watching them having fun and getting worn out.At lunchtime, I got to help feed the dogs and cats their food. We had to carefully measure out each portion and give them their proper diets - some were on special weight food and others needed puppy or senior food. I carried around a chart to make sure I gave each animal the right amount and kind of kibble. In the afternoon after lunch, volunteer time was over and I had to go home. But I couldn't wait to come back the next day! Over those few weeks, I made friends with a lot of the animals. There was a big golden retriever named Charlie who was my favorite. He was really clumsy and silly and loved playingtug-of-war.The hardest part was when animals got adopted, because I would miss them! But I was also really happy for them to go to their new forever homes. I cried a little when Charlie got adopted, but his new family seemed really nice.Overall, it was an awesome experience being an animal shelter volunteer. I learned a lot about how to properly take care of dogs and cats. I got really good at staying calm around hyper animals. And I made a lot of new furry friends! It made me want to do more volunteering in the future to help out however I can. I think it's important to give back to your community, even as a kid. Maybe next I'll volunteer at a nursing home or beach cleanup. For now, I'm just really grateful I got to spend my summer helping cute pups and kitties!。

四年级下册 第二单元英语作文神奇的眼镜

四年级下册第二单元英语作文神奇的眼镜全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1The Magic GlassesWhoa, what just happened? One second I was sitting at my desk trying to read the book my teacher Mrs. Johnson assigned for homework, and the next everything looked totally different! The words on the page were suddenly easy to read and seemed to jump off the page. I blinked hard a few times but that strange feeling didn't go away.I looked around the classroom and it was like I had Put on a pair of magic glasses or something. All the drawings and posters on the walls looked brighter and more vibrant than they ever had before. I could see every single detail, even from across the room. The colors were richer and the lines were sharper. This was wild! When I turned my head towards the window, I caught a glimpse of the most beautiful blue sky I had ever seen. The puffy white clouds looked like they were made of soft cotton candy. I could even make out a bird soaring high overhead - wait, wasthat a hawk?! From inside the classroom, I could clearly see every feather on its outstretched wings. This was unbelievable!"Josh? Josh!" Mrs. Johnson's voice snapped me out of my daze. "Are you paying attention?""Y-yes ma'am," I stammered, still trying to make sense of what was happening to me. "I was just...looking out the window."She gave me a puzzled look. "Well, alright then. As I was saying, who can tell me what simile is used in the first paragraph to describe the dragon's fiery breath?"I tuned her out as I glanced back down at the book. There it was again - every word, every letter, ever mark on the page was sharp and in perfect focus. It was like someone had zoomed in and enhanced the text with...with..."Magic glasses!" I blurted out loud. The whole class turned to stare at me like I was nuts."I'm sorry?" Mrs. Johnson raised an eyebrow at me."Uh, nothing," I muttered, shrinking down in my seat. "The simile is 'like a volcano erupting.'"She blinked in surprise. "That's...correct, Josh. Very good."I couldn't believe it either. I had hardly even glanced at the reading for homework last night. There's no way I could have normally picked out that detail so easily. This really was some kind of magic! The rest of the morning passed in a blur. Every time I looked at something, I noticed nuances and details I had never seen before. Words seemed to get much easier to read and understand. Even listening to Mrs篇2The Magic GlassesOne day, I woke up and noticed something strange on my nightstand. It was a pair of glasses that I had never seen before. They looked really old and dusty, with thick lenses and a funny looking frame. I picked them up and studied them closely. On the bridge of the nose part, there were some tiny words etched into the metal that said "Magic Glasses." How bizarre!I looked around my room but there was no one else there. Where could these have come from? Maybe it was a prank from my annoying little brother. He's always trying to pull silly jokes on me. But part of me wondered if these glasses really were magic. Only one way to find out!I put them on and looked around. At first, everything seemed totally normal. My room looked the same. My toys were in their usual spot on the floor. My backpack was leaning against the desk, ready for school on Monday. I was about to take the glasses off when suddenly, the world started changing before my very eyes! The walls of my bedroom dissolved away and I found myself standing in the middle of a dense jungle. Giant trees towered over me, their trunks covered in thick vines. Colorful birds flitted between the branches, squawking loudly. The air felt hot and humid. I could hear the distant roar of some huge animal. A massive butterfly the size of a plate fluttered past my head. I was in the Amazon rainforest!I had read all about the incredible biodiversity of the Amazon in my science book, but I never imagined I would actually get to experience it myself. A family of tiny monkeys raced across the ground in front of me, squealing and chattering. An enormous bright green snake slithered up the trunk of a tree right next to where I stood, its black forked tongue flickering in and out. I didn't dare move a muscle.Just when I thought I couldn't possibly be more amazed, I noticed a group of indigenous people walking calmly throughthe jungle, carrying blowguns and baskets of fruit. They didn't seem to notice me at all, even when they passed right by me. Maybe the magic glasses made me invisible too! After watching the tribe disappear into the thick foliage, I decided it was time to take the glasses off and go somewhere else. My heart was pounding with excitement thinking about where I could go next. I removed the glasses and...Whoosh! The jungle was gone, replaced by the icy landscape of the Antarctic. I was standing on a vast, empty expanse of snow and ice that stretched out as far as I could see in every direction under a brilliant blue sky. The freezing wind whipped at my face, stinging my cheeks. I wrapped my arms around myself, shivering violently in just my pajamas. In the distance, I spotted a massive shape moving slowly across the frozen ground. As it drew closer, I realized it was an absolutely enormous Antarctic penguin, easily 7 or 8 feet tall! A whole family of these mega-penguins waddled together, huddled against the cold. I couldn't believe creatures this big actually existed. That's when I noticed a gaping crack in the ice not far from where I stood. I gulped hard and cautiously crept a little closer until I could peek over the edge. Below me, drifting silentlythrough the dark waters was a massive pale shape - a leopard seal! The apex predator of the Antarctic sliced through the blackness like a living submarine, its snake-like body propelling it effortlessly.Just then, the giant penguin family must have noticed me. They stopped waddling and simply stared in my direction, ruffling their feathers and squawking loudly in alarm at my presence. Were they warning the leopard seal I was here? I wasn't about to find out!I tore the glasses off and the Antarctic disappeared as quickly as it had appeared. This time, I found myself surrounded by the dazzling metal spires of a gigantic futuristic city that seemed to stretch on forever across the horizon. Streamlined vehicles whizzed past me, hovering silently just above the immaculately clean streets. Tall, gleaming skyscrapers reached up into the clouds, their mirrored surfaces reflecting the golden rays of the setting sun.Everything looked so advanced here, yet there didn't seem to be a single human being anywhere in sight. Just as I was puzzling over this, a small group of sleek silver robots whirred around the corner, walking stiffly on spindly legs. They stoppedin front of me and stared at me with their big unblinking robot eyes. I waved at them shyly. Maybe they would be friendly? One of the robots extended an appendage and a bright light suddenly shot out of it, bathing me in a weird blue glow. I flinched, throwing my hands up to shield my eyes as the light scanned me from head to toe and back again. The robots seemed to confer with each other in a bizarre electronic language of beeps and whirrs. Then, two of them reached out with their metal claws, attempting to grab me! I struggled to break free......And with a tremendous effort, I managed to wrench the glasses off my face just in time. In the blink of an eye, the futuristic city vanished and I was back in the safe, familiar surroundings of my bedroom, breathing heavily. Those crazy glasses transported me to the most incredible places - the jungle, the Antarctic, and even the world of the future! It was all so realistic too, like I had actually been there. I had experienced more excitement and adventure in the last hour than most people do in their entire lives.Trembling from the thrill of it all, I set the magic glasses down gently on my nightstand, wondering where they could possibly have come from. Maybe they belonged to a greatexplorer from long ago who used them to visit strange and fantastic lands. Or maybe they were created by an eccentric inventor as one of their incredible experiments. Whoever made them, I felt so lucky to have had the chance to see what they saw, even for a little while. As I drifted off to sleep that night, my dreams were filled with amazing sights - primeval jungles teeming with undiscovered life, vast icy realms ruled by towering penguins and ferocious seals, and shimmering cities of steel and glass inhabited by advanced robot societies. I just hoped that someday I might have the chance to put on those magic glasses and go on another unbelievable adventure. Who knows what other wonders were out there waiting to be experienced?篇3The Magic GlassesHave you ever imagined what it would be like to have a magic pair of glasses that could let you see the world in a totally different way? Well, that's exactly what happened to me last summer! It was the craziest and most unbelievable experience. It all started on a sunny Saturday morning. I was incredibly bored and had nothing to do. My parents were busy working andmy older sister was at her friend's house. I had already finished all my homework and chores for the weekend. I flopped down on the couch, feeling sorry for myself. That's when I spotted my dad's glasses case on the coffee table."I wonder what it would be like to wear glasses?" I thought to myself. I picked up the case and opened it. Instead of my dad's regular black-rimmed glasses, inside was a sparkly pair of purple glasses! The lenses seemed to shimmer and glow. Curious, I put them on.At first, nothing seemed different. But then objects around the room started to change before my very eyes! The couch stretched out long like a limousine. The television grew a wide mouth and two big eyes and began bouncing around singing nursery rhymes. The houseplants turned into tiny dancing people waving leafy arms. I couldn't believe what I was seeing!I dashed to the kitchen where even more bizarre things were happening. The refrigerator had grown long hairy arms and legs and was doing jumping jacks. The sink sprouted laser eyes that were blasting the dishes clean. And the microwave had turned into a disco ball, flashing colored lights around the room. This was too strange!I ran upstairs to my parents' bedroom, wondering if the magic glasses were playing tricks on me there too. Sure enough, the bed was hovering three feet off the floor. My mom's closet looked like it had turned into a mall with racks of clothes as far as the eye could see. And my dad's dresser drawers kept opening and closing like chattering teeth. Clearly these were no ordinary glasses!Next I went to check on my sister's room. The first thing I noticed was her piles of stuffed animals wrestling and tumbling around like living things. Then her mirror started making faces at me. Even the pictures on her walls were moving, with the people and animals inside waving and laughing! This magic was getting sillier and sillier. Finally, I looked out the window at our backyard. I could hardly believe my eyes! The trees had turned into frozen ice cream cones dripping sugary scoops. The flower beds were salsa dancing across the lawn. The garden gnomes were real little people running around bonking each other with tiny plastic clubs. And a family of squirrels were piloting acorn-shaped spaceships, zooming through the air. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry at the outrageous things I was seeing!Just then, I heard the front door open. It was my mom and dad coming home from running errands. In a panic, I whipped off the purple glasses and shoved them back into the case. Everything returned to normal immediately. Phew, that was a close one! I didn't want to have to explain the crazy secret of the magic glasses.I'll never forget the bizarre and hilarious adventure those magic spectacles took me on. Watching the everyday things in my house come alive and act so silly was an experience like no other. Who would have thought a simple pair of glasses could transform the world into such an imaginative, animated fantasy?I just hope that one day I'll be lucky enough to find those magic glasses again. Although part of me is a little worried about what nutty novelties I might see next!。

写五年前的家庭生活和现在的情况写英语作文

写五年前的家庭生活和现在的情况写英语作文My Family Life: Then and NowDo you ever think about how things used to be different? I sure do! Five years ago, my life was so unlike how it is today. Let me tell you all about the ways my family has changed.Back then, we were a smaller bunch. It was just me, my mom, my dad, and our goofy golden retriever named Buddy. We lived in a cozy little house with a backyard that always needed mowing. Mom worked as a nurse at the hospital, while Dad had an office job downtown. After school, I'd walk home alone, letting myself in with the key they gave me to wear around my neck. Buddy would bark like crazy until I got inside, then he'd lick my face a million times! I'd grab a snack and plop myself in front of the TV to watch cartoons until Mom or Dad got home.Weekend mornings were lazy. We'd all sleep in late, then Dad would make his famous pancakes. The smell would wake me up and I'd rush to the kitchen, pipingplate in hand. We'd drizzle them with syrup and sit around the table, talking and laughing together. Sometimes Dad would rig up a fort of blankets and couch cushions and we'd have an indoor picnic for lunch. He always made it so fun and magical! In the evenings, we'd play games like Candy Land or Go Fish or Build a House of Cards until it was time for my bath. Mom and Dad took turns getting me ready for bed with a warm bubble bath, putting on my favorite jammies, and reading me stories tucked under the covers. I always fell asleep to the sound of their voices. On Sundays, we'd go to church, then sometimes meet Dad's parents for a family cookout. Grandma and Grandpa's house was super old but I loved it. There were so many nooks and crannies to explore, weird antiques to look at, and yummy smells coming from Grandma's kitchen. After eating, us kids would rush outside to run around and play freeze tag or red rover until it was time to leave. Those days were simple and happy. I was an only child back then, so I got all the attention. Of course, I didn't know any different. But boy, has my life done a total 180 in these last five years! The biggest change was when my twin brothers, Jake and Josh, were born. I remember the day so well - Mom's belly looked like she had swallowed a watermelon whole! Then suddenly, she was in labor, and the next afternoon, she and Dadcame home with two squishy-faced baby dolls. My world was rocked! Those first few months were crazy. The babies seemed to cry all the time, day and night. I'd be sound asleep when one of them would wake up wailing. Mom or Dad would rush in, but it still disturbed me. Sometimes both twins would be going at the same time -holy racket, Batman! Mom was constantly nursing them or giving bottles. Dad would have to hold them upright for hours and pat their backs to get the burps out. I missed the peace and quiet. As they got a little older, it was fun to play with Jake and Josh, but also very frustrating. They were into everything and loved putting small objects in their mouths. We'd build a awesome tower of blocks just for them to knock it down and make me cry. They grabbed at my hair, slobbered on my toys, you name it. "Lil' barbarians!" I called them. Mom and Dad just said I had to be patient.By the time the twins were two, we had survived and settled into a new normal. They were running around on chunky toddler legs, jabbering in that adorable baby language. We moved to a much bigger place last year to make room for all of us - with loads of space to spread out and a huge backyard for playing. That's probably been the second biggest change to our family life. Now home is a four-bedroom, two-story house in the suburbs. We have an open concept kitchen, living room and dining area downstairs, which is perfect for keeping an eye on the little knuckleheads. No more fancy furniture though - just lots of cozy seating and kid-proof everything!Upstairs, I finally got my own private bedroom after sharing with Mom and Dad for years. It's my personal oasis, decorated with rainbow everything. I aim to be an interior designer when I grow up. The twins still co-sleep in the nursery, but Mom said she's going to transition them to separate big kid rooms once they turn five. Our new place has a playroom too, stuffed with every toy and game imaginable. The twins' favorites are the puppet theater and dress-up trunk. Getting them to share and take turns is still a struggle some days. But at least there's plenty to keep them occupied! We moved out further from the city, so Dad's work commute is much longer now. He's often stuck on a train or gridlocked roads to and from the office. Poor guy comes home cranky andstressed sometimes. We kids make sure to greet him with extra hugs when he walks through the door! Our yard is incredible - so green and spacious for running around. Mom signed the twins up for a soccer club, so they'll start team sports this fall. Our new area has lots of parks with jungle gyms, playgrounds and walking trails too. I'm really looking forward to playing outside more when it warms up again.I guess I should mention that in our new place, we also adopted a roly-poly bulldog named Winston who snorts all the time. The twins were obsessed with him at first, but he's gotten a bit cranky as he's aged and isn't as playful as they'd like. I actually prefer my alone time with Winston over the chaos of the twins sometimes!Oh, and about two years ago, Grandma died very suddenly which was extremely sad. I'll never forget her warm hugs that smelled like family recipes and oven-fresh cookies. Grandpa moved in with us for a while as he adjusted to living alone. We've helped him decorate and settle into a cute apartment near our place now. He stops by every Sunday to take me out for a special breakfast, just the two of us, before he visits with the rest of the family. Most weekends are a flurry of activity - dance classes for me, swim lessons for the boys, sports practices, church activities, running errands as a family. When we do get pockets of downtime, it's precious. We'll bake cookies together and play board games or put together a puzzle. Sometimes we'll load up in Mom'svan and drive somewhere for a little adventure. The twins think everything is funny and whine if you don't share your snacks - those little stinkers!Mom still works at the hospital, but her hours are different. Since I got into the excellent gifted program at my school, she had to adjust her shifts to drop me off and pick me up. She and Dad are very proud of me for testing so well. They've always read to me a ton and supported my learning. At night after the twins are (finally) asleep, Mom braids my hair and we watch movies together, just us girls. She tells me what a huge helper I am and how much she values ourone-on-one time. That makes me feel so special. When Dad gets home, if he's not too beat from his job, we'll play chase or build Lego cities together. He loves asking me about what I'm learning and thinking. Sometimes he falls asleep on the couch from sheer exhaustion and Mom and I just let himrest up for tomorrow's mayhem. It's not easy keeping up with two high-energy three-year-old boys, that's for sure!Even though our family life looks nothing like it did five years ago, some things never change. We still lovespur-of-the-moment dance parties in the living room. We still cuddle up in Dad's fort of blankets for movie nights. We still make Dad's awesome pancakes, even if it's more of an assembly line with all these hungry mouths to feed now! What matters most is that we're together, sharing our lives as one goofy, messy, joyful unit. Don't get me wrong - I definitely miss the peace and quiet from time to time, and Mom and Dad's undivided attention. But I recognize that this fresh chapter of family chaos and never-ending sibling squabbles is precious too. After all, I'm making memories that will indelibly shape who I'll become. Those lazy days of my only-child youth are gone forever. But watching my formerly tiny twin brothers grow and develop their unique personalities has been such a wild ride. I'm excited to see what the next five years have in store as we navigate this beautifully complex era of family life together!。

英语家里的变化作文there be全文共6篇示例,供读者参考篇1There Are Changes at HomeThere are big changes happening at home lately. There used to be just me, my mom, and my dad living together. But now there are some new additions to our family!First, there is my baby sister Emma who was born a few months ago. There was a lot of excitement when we found out my mom was going to have another baby. There were many preparations to make to get ready for the new arrival. There had to be a room set up with a crib, changing table, and all the other baby things. There were lots of tiny clothes, blankets, and toys bought for her too. When Emma first came home from the hospital, there was a period of adjustment for all of us. There were middle of the night feedings and diaper changes that made me grateful I was not the new baby! There were many nights of crying that made it hard for the rest of us to sleep. But there were also the mostwonderful cuddly times when I got to hold my sweet little sister. There is nothing like that newborn baby smell. Now that Emma is a few months old, there is more of a routine. There is a schedule for feedings, naps, and playtime. There are piles of books we read to her and toys she bats at happily. There are still occasional fussy times, but there are more and more baby coos and smiles too. Having a baby around means there is always something going on!Another big change is that there is a new dog at our house named Rufus. There used to just be our old cat Whiskers, but Mom and Dad thought it would be good to get a dog now that we have a baby. At first, there were some tensions when Rufus came home as a puppy. There was a lot of barking whenever the poor cat came around. There were means from Whiskers and there were a few scratches on Rufus while he learned to leave her space. There was also a period of training for Rufus. There were pee pads all over the house until he learned to go potty outside. There were treats given whenever he did something good, like sit or stay. There were many times my parents had to calmly say "no" when he was chewing on something he shouldn't. Therewas a lot of work, but it has paid off. These days, there is awell-behaved, friendly dog in our home.Rufus and Whiskers have worked out their differences too. There are nap times when they can be found snuggling up together. There are other times when there is friendly chasing and playing between the two. Having both a cat and a dog means there is never a dull moment with the pet antics. With all the new additions, there are certainly a lot more messes around the house these days too. There are dirty baby clothes and spit-up rags piled up for the laundry. There are toys, both baby and dog, scattered across the floors. There are muddy paw prints to be wiped up after Rufus comes inside. There is a general lived-in chaos to our home now.But along with the extra messes, there is just so much more life and energy in our house. There are the sweet baby gurgles and giggles. There are the adorable dog tricks, like when Rufus rolls over to show his belly. There are moments of pure joy, like last week when Emma laughed for the first time at Rufus's doggy antics. There is a feeling of our family being complete, even amongst the happy pandemonium.I'm so grateful there has been this expansion to our family over the last year. There were definitely some big adjustmentsalong the way, but there is nothing like the love of a new baby and a cuddly pet. There is a warmth and happiness that comes with the controlled chaos. There is a different household dynamic with all of us - me, my parents, my sister, the dog, and the cat. But there is a wonderful feeling of being surrounded by the energetic love of family. Our home is happily changing for the better.篇2There Are So Many Changes at HomeThere are so many changes happening at our house lately! It's all because my little brother was just born a few weeks ago. His name is Tommy and he is the cutest little baby I've ever seen. There are cute little toes on his tiny feet and he has the most adorable button nose. When he sleeps, there is a peaceful, angelic look on his face that makes me want to watch him all day.But there are also a lot of challenges that come with having a new baby at home. There is a whole new routine we all have to get used to. There are feedings every couple of hours, even throughout the night. There is a whole new schedule of nap times and bedtimes revolving around Tommy's needs. There are so many new pieces of baby gear everywhere - there is a crib inmy parents' bedroom, there are baby swings and bouncy seats in the living room, and there are piles of tiny clothes, blankets, and burp cloths scattered all over the house. With all the new baby stuff, there isn't as much room and order in our house as there used to be. There are toys and books shoved into corners to make space for the baby things. There are piles of laundry everywhere because it seems like my mom is always washing more tiny onesies and sleepers. There are even some days when there is a bit of a funky smell drifting through the house from....well, you know, babies make messes! There are definitely some big changes for my parents too, not just me. There are dark circles under their eyes from being up so many times every night with the baby's cries. There is baby gear covering most surfaces in their bedroom. There are even little spit-up stains on some of their clothes. Most of the time, there is a flustered, frazzled look on their faces as they try to get everything done while taking care of this tiny new human. But there is also so much happiness and love surrounding our newest family member. There are the sweetest smiles and coos coming from Tommy that just melt my heart. There are moments of pure joy on my parents' faces when they are snuggling and bonding with their precious little guy. And there issuch a strong feeling of family love and togetherness in our home that wasn't quite the same before. With Tommy's arrival, there are bound to be some growing pains and challenges as we all adjust. But there is no doubt that there is a new kind of specialness, excitement, and love in our house that makes all the messes, fatigue, and stress worth it. I have a feeling there are going to be so many wonderful years ahead making memories as a family of four. And no matter how crazy it gets, there will always be that new baby sweetness surrounding us. I'm so grateful there is this new beautiful little person to love!篇3There Are So Many Changes at HomeThere used to be just my mom, my dad, and me living in our little house. But recently, there have been so many changes happening at home! There are new faces, new sounds, and new routines that we didn't have before. The biggest change is that there is now a new baby in our family. There was my mom's big belly for months, and then one day, there she was - my little sister! Her name is Emily and she isthe cutest, tiniest thing. There are always little baby noises like coos and cries coming from her corner of the living room. There used to be silence and peace in our house, but there is constantly noise with the new baby around. There are the sounds of her crying when she's hungry or needs a diaper change. There are the lullabies and shushing sounds from my parents when they try to get her to sleep. Sometimes, there is even baby laughter when my dad makes funny faces at her. It's like there is a new soundtrack playing in our home. With Emily here, there are also many new baby items that have taken over our house. There are piles of diapers, boxes of wipes, and drawers full of tiny onesies and sleepers in the nursery. There used to be an empty spare room, but now there is a crib, a changing table, rocking chair and piles of stuffed animals and baby books in there. It looks like a baby wonderland! In the living room, there are new baby toys scattered all over. There are colorful play mats, noisy rattles, and plush blocks for her to play with. There used to be clear floor space, but now there is a baby swing and bouncy seat taking up room too. Sometimes there are even bottles, pacifiers, and discarded socks rolling around under the couch. No matter how much we tidy up, there always seems to be baby supplies and messes everywhere!Another big change is that there are new adjustments to our schedules and routines. There used to be time in the mornings for my parents to relax, but now there are rushed diaper changes, feedings, and getting Emily dressed and ready to go. There are constant loads of laundry with spit-up stains and there are more dishes than ever with all the baby bottles and sippy cups.In the evenings, there used to be quiet family dinners and TV time afterwards. But now there are breaks to warm up bottles, rock Emily to sleep and skip baths if she has an evening meltdown. There is a lot more chaos and much less calm with all the added responsibilities.Sometimes there is extra help though, which is a nice change. There are visits from my grandparents who come to lend a hand. During their stays, there are extra sets of hands to hold and play with the baby. There is more laughter and an extra loving presence in our home when they're here. I like those kinds of changes a lot.Overall, there have been so many huge changes with Emily's arrival. There are new expressions of love, like soft cuddles with the baby. There are new skills I'm learning, like how to gently hold her little head. There are new experiences too, like the firsttime she grabbed my finger or smiled at me. Those make all the new noises, messes, and fatigue worth it.While there used to be a calm, predictable life, there is now a whirlwind of everything baby-related. But there is so much more joy and love in our household too. Our family has grown and there are new adventures and beautiful memories happening every day. Yes, there are a ton of changes, but there is nothing I would want to change about finally becoming a big brother. I know there will continue to be many more changes ahead, but I'm really excited for all of them.篇4There are Many Changes at My House! There have been so many changes at my house lately! It feels like every time I come home from school, there is something new and different. Let me tell you all about the big changes that are happening.First of all, there was a new baby born in our family a few months ago. Her name is Emily and she is my brand new little sister. When my mom first brought her home from the hospital, there were baby things everywhere! There were diapers, bottles, tiny clothes, and toys all over the living room. Now there is a cribset up in my parents' bedroom for Emily to sleep in. There are also new baby gates installed to block off certain rooms so she can't crawl around and get into trouble. Having a new baby means there is a lot more noise and mess around the house! There were even some changes made to my bedroom to get ready for the baby. There used to be a guest bedroom right next door to my room. But my parents converted it into a nursery for Emily. There are cute animal drawings on the walls, a changing table, rocking chair, and of course the crib. There are piles of stuffed animals and picture books too. I'm a little sad there is no more guest room, but I'm trying to be a good big brother.Another big change is that there are a ton of construction workers around doing renovations on our house. There used to be a small extra room off the kitchen that wasn't really used for anything. But there are builders knocking down walls right now to open up that space. Their plan is to make it into a bigger kitchen and dining area. There are tools, sawdust, and tarps covering everything while they work. It's really loud with all the hammering and drilling going on! I can't wait until it's finally done though. There are going to be new cabinets, granite countertops, and a kitchen island with barstools. There will evenbe a dining table big enough for our whole family to eat meals together. There are also some fun new additions to our backyard this summer. There used to be a really boring, plain grassy area behind our house. But my dad hired some landscapers to come spruce it up. There is now a beautiful stone patio with a fancy grill for barbeques. There are decorative flowerbeds with colorful plants and bushes too. And the crew also installed a cool wooden playset and swing set for me and my little sister. There are a slide, monkey bars, climbing wall, and little playhouse. It makes me so excited to go out and play! With all these renovations going on, there is constantly a mess and clutter around the house. There are toolboxes, building materials, and pieces of equipment scattered everywhere. There is dust and debris too that the workers track in from outside. Sometimes there is even a dumpster or portable toilet set up in our driveway! It feels like a construction zone. But I know things won't be this way forever. Once all the projects are finally done, there will be so many amazing new spaces in our house. There will be the nursery, big kitchen, patio, and playground for me to enjoy. I can't wait! There are just piles of boxes and furniture crammed into rooms right now while thework is happening. But soon everything will be organized and put back into its proper place. It's been pretty chaotic around my house for the past few months. But all these changes were necessary to make our home even better. There used to be plenty of room before my sister arrived and we started renovating. Now there are constantly people working and baby things scattered about. There is never a quiet moment anymore! But I don't mind too much. There is so much excitement and fun new additions. My house feels completely transformed...in a good way! Even though there are messes now, I know there will be a beautiful new living space when it's all over. Changes are hard, but these are great changes for my family. I'm trying to be patient and positive until everything is done. There are amazing things to come!篇5There Have Been Big Changes at My House! There have been lots of changes at my house lately. There were so many new and different things happening that it felt like I was living in a whole new place!First of all, there was a new baby sister who joined our family. There had never been a baby in our house before, so there werelots of new baby things everywhere. There were diapers, bottles, cute little onesies and a crib in the corner of my parents' bedroom. There was also a bunch of new baby toys, like rattles, stuffed animals and those plastic rings you can chew on.At first, there wasn't really a schedule with the new baby. There would be crying at all hours of the night when she was hungry or needed a diaper change. There were many sleepless nights for my parents! But eventually, there was a routine where the baby would sleep most of the night after a late feeding. That was a relief because there had been too many days where my parents were walking around like zombies from lack of sleep! There are lots of other new baby things too. There is a changing table now in the living room, so there are always diapers, wipes, and diaper rash cream out in the open instead of hidden away in the nursery. There are baby blankets everywhere in case the baby spits up or has an accident. There are baby gates at the tops of the stairs and barriers around the fireplace so the baby can't go falling down or bumping her head once she starts crawling around. There are new rules in the house too, ever since the baby came. There is absolutely no running or yelling allowed inside because it might scare or upset the baby. There is also noroughhousing with the dog because he might accidently jump on the baby. And there is definitely no leaving tiny toys on the floor, because the baby might try to eat them! My parents are always saying "There, there" in a soft, calm voice whenever the baby cries. I have to be very quiet when I practice my violin now.But there are good changes too, not just hard ones. There are lots of sweet, cuddly moments where we're all snuggled up admiring the baby. There are infinite amounts of cute baby pics and videos my parents take to send to our whole family. And there is so much more laughter and joy in our house than there used to be, even if it does come along with dirty diapers and sleepless nights. There is also more help around the house from my grandparents. There are way more visits from my grandmas and grandpas now that they have a new great-grandbaby. There is usually at least one grandparent over for Sunday night dinners to hold the baby. And there have been a couple times where there were grandparents actually staying over for a week or two to lend an extra set of hands. So even though there is a lot more chaos and noise than there used to be, there is also a lot more love. We used to be a calmer, quieter family of three, but there weren't as many hugsor random dance parties. Now there is always some little person demanding snuggles, songs, or silly games. There is a new happy, joyful energy in our home that wasn't there before.Overall, there have been huge changes ever since the baby arrived. There is a lot more responsibility, but also a lot more wonder. There is a lot more fatigue, but also a lot more silliness and overwhelming love. I'm not going to lie, there are times I miss how things used to be - just me, mom and dad doing our thing. But truthfully, there is no way I would ever go back now that there is this new, amazing little person in our lives. Our family used to be great, but there is something even better about it now that she's here. There will surely be many more changes ahead, but I'm excited to see what the future holds for us. I have a feeling there will be great times and beautiful memories still to come, if this first year with the baby is any indication!篇6There are Big Changes at My HouseThere have been a lot of big changes happening at my house lately. There used to be just me, my mom, and my dad living there. But now there are some new additions to our family! The biggest change is that there is a new baby in our house. There is a tiny little person named Emma who arrived a few months ago. There were a lot of preparations before she got here. There had to be a brand new room set up as a nursery with a crib, changing table, rocking chair and lots of baby supplies. There were piles of tiny clothes, diapers and toys everywhere you looked. There used to be a spare bedroom where nobody slept. But there isn't that room anymore - it has been totally transformed into a cozy little nest for the baby. There are soft yellow walls with painted butterflies. There are shelves filled with stuffed animals and picture books. There is a mobile with little plush elephants and giraffes hanging over the crib. There is a night light that projects stars onto the ceiling. There are framed photos of our family on the walls. Before Emma arrived, there used to be peace and quiet most of the time in our house. But there certainly isn't that anymore! There is a lot more noise nowadays. There are the sounds of a baby crying, cooing, gurgling and sometimes screaming. There is a sound machine playing lullaby songs and white noise. There are my parents' voices singing nursery rhymes and shushing sounds as they try to lull Emma to sleep. There are more messes around the house too. There used to be just a few toys lying around that belonged to me. But now there are baby toys scattered everywhere - there are stuffed animals, rattles, teething rings and board books all over the living room floor. There are stains and spit-up on the couch cushions and carpets that weren't there before. There are piles of burp cloths and receiving blankets draped over furniture. There are some new fixtures and furniture as well. There is a baby swing in the living room that rocks back and forth. There are playmats and activity gyms set up around the house for the baby to lay on and bat at the hanging toys. There is a diaper pail that needs to be frequently emptied because there are so many dirty diapers. With all the new baby items, there isn't as much space and storage at home as there used to be. There are boxes and bins filled with outgrown baby clothes and unused supplies shoved into every closet and corner. There is the double stroller taking up space in the front hall. There are diaper bags overflowing with snacks, wipes, diapers and extra outfits every time we leave the house. There are changes to my parents too, not just our house. There are bags under their eyes because there is a lot less sleephappening with a newborn. There are stains on their shirts from baby spit-up. There are new worries and concerns on their faces that weren't there before - they are nervous about keeping this tiny baby safe and healthy. There is a lot more attention being paid to the baby than to me a lot of the time. But there is also a lot more love and joy around the house than before Emma arrived. There are lots of hugs, cuddles and kisses being shared with the baby. There are bright smiles and laughter at her cute faces and funny noises. There are passwords for photos and videos on my parents' phones because there are so many new pictures and videos being taken of the baby every day. There is pure bliss on my parents' faces when they are cuddling and playing with Emma. There are some fun new experiences for me too with being a big brother. There are moments where I get to feed Emma a bottle and feel how warm and tiny she is in my arms. There are times I get to help give her a bath and play with the cup and bubbles in the little tub. There are opportunities for me to sing and read to her. There are so many firsts that I get to be a part of - her first smile at me, her first laugh, her first rollover.Even though there are a lot of changes, difficulties and lossof sleep with a new baby, there is no doubt that there is somethingincredibly special about this time. There is a feeling of newness, hope and optimism. There are so many more memories still to be made as we all adjust to the newest member of our family. Yes, there are a lot of challenges too. But there is mostly an abundance of love that makes all the difficulties worth it. Our house is overflowing with joy and affection. And I can't wait to see what other adventures and changes lie ahead with my amazing little sister Emma.。

英语作文从喜欢的小故事中学到了什么全文共5篇示例,供读者参考篇1My Favorite Story and What I Learned From ItOne of my all-time favorite stories is "The Little Engine That Could" by Watty Piper. It's a classic tale that my parents used to read to me every night before bed when I was little. Even though the story is short and simple, it has a powerful message that has stuck with me over the years. The story is about a little blue train engine who is asked to pull a huge train full of toys and food over a big mountain to get to all the good little boys and girls on the other side. At first, the little engine doesn't think she can do it because the train is so heavy and the mountain is so steep and high. She asks several big engines to help pull the train, but they all refuse, saying "I can't do it" or making excuses. The little blue engine doesn't give up though. She tells herself "I think I can, I think I can" over and over again. She works up all her courage and strength, and amazingly, she is able to slowly chug up and over the huge mountain, pulling the heavytrain behind her! When she makes it to the top, she can't help but happily chant "I thought I could, I thought I could, I thought I could!"There are a few key reasons why this little story means so much to me and has taught me valuable life lessons:Believe in yourself and don't give upThe biggest takeaway is the importance of self-belief, determination, and perseverance. The little engine didn't listen to the doubters or let her small size hold her back. She drew strength from her unwavering credo of "I think I can." Her positivity and grit in the face of adversity paid off in the end when she accomplished something few thought possible. This inspires me to always believe in myself, no matter how big the challenge or how small I might feel. If I set my mind to a goal and keep working hard, I can make my biggest dreams come true through perseverance and refusing to quit. All it takes is maintaining that "I think I can" attitude.Don't make excusesI also learned from the bigger engines' negative example not to make lame excuses when the going gets tough. They could have pulled that train if they truly tried and didn't give up soeasily with their "I can't do it" mentality. Making excuses is just a lazy way to avoid doing difficult things. It's much better to follow the little engine's lead and power through with optimism and tenacity.Help others in needAnother lesson is about the importance of helping those in need whenever you can, just like the little engine helped bring essential supplies over the mountain to the kids on the other side. If she had been selfish and given up, those kids would have gone without food and toys. Even if a task seems too big for one person, everyone should do what they can to improve lives and make a positive difference.Celebrate accomplishmentsFinally, the little engine teaches that it's okay to be proud and happily celebrate big accomplishments and milestone achievements when you've earned them through hard work. After such an uphill battle pulling that huge train, she had every right to loudly and proudly declare "I thought I could!" over and over. She triumphed over adversity through persistent effort, so why not relish that success and give yourself some kudos? So in conclusion, whenever I feel self-doubt, want to make excuses, or lose motivation, I just revisit the classic story of "The Little Engine That Could." Her timeless words of wisdom, humble hard work, and eventual sweet triumph over the mountain never fail to inspire me all over again. I'll keep chugging away with her signature "I think I can!" spirit to achieve my biggest dreams, just like she did.篇2My Favorite Short Story and What I LearnedHi there! My name is Jamie and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you about my favorite short story and the important lessons I learned from it. The story is called "The Ant and the Grasshopper" and it's one of Aesop's famous fables. The story starts in the summer when an ant is working really hard, collecting grains of wheat from the fields. He is getting ready for the cold winter months when there won't be any food. While the ant is working, the grasshopper sees him and makes fun of him! The grasshopper asks, "Why are you working so hard? You should be singing, dancing and playing like me!"The ant replies, "I'm storing up food for the winter. You should do the same instead of playing all day." But thegrasshopper just laughs and goes back to singing and playing with his friends. When winter comes, it's very cold and there is snow everywhere. The grasshopper can't find any food or shelter. He is hungry, cold and regretting that he didn't listen to the ant. So he knocks on the ant's door and asks for something to eat.The ant asks the grasshopper what he was doing all summer while the ant was working hard. The grasshopper admits he was just singing and having fun. Then the ant scolds him, saying he should have been working too instead of wasting time. The ant tells the grasshopper, "Whatever a person plants, they will harvest. Those who plant seeds of laziness, lack of preparation and negligence, will harvest poverty and need." After saying this wise advice, the ant closes the door and goes back inside, leaving the grasshopper outside in the cold. There are a few really important lessons I learned from this short story that I try to apply in my own life:Work hard and prepare for the futureJust like the ant, we need to work hard and prepare for challenges and difficult times ahead instead of wasting time playing all day. The ant was gathering food for when winter came.I try to work hard on my homework, chores and other responsibilities so I'm prepared for future challenges like tests or projects. Preparing now makes things easier later!Don't be lazy or negligentThe grasshopper was very lazy during the summer and negligent - he didn't take care of his responsibilities to prepare for winter. This led to him being cold, hungry and homeless when winter came. In my life, I don't want to be lazy about my schoolwork or responsibilities at home, because that would lead to me failing classes or getting punished. It's important to take care of what I need to do instead of ignoring it.You reap what you sowThe ant told the grasshopper "Whatever a person plants, they will harvest." This means that the choices you make and actions you take will have consequences - good or bad. If you "plant" hard work through your efforts, you'll "harvest" or get good results. But if you "plant" laziness and negligence like the grasshopper, you'll "harvest" negative results like poverty and need. I try to remember this lesson when I'm tempted to slack off. The work I put in now will determine my future rewards.Don't make fun of othersAt the beginning, the grasshopper laughed at and made fun of the ant for working hard. This wasn't nice at all and we shouldn't put others down for making good choices like being responsible. The grasshopper regretted his mockery later when he was the one suffering. I try not to tease my friends for working hard or make them feel bad about doing the right thing.Have sympathy but learn from mistakesWhen the grasshopper came begging for shelter and food, the ant still took the time to explain the mistakes the grasshopper made and give wise advice, even though the grasshopper had mocked him earlier. The ant had sympathy but also taught an important lesson. When I or others make mistakes, I try to learn from them and make better choices going forward, while also having compassion. Those are the main lessons I took from this classic story about the ant and the grasshopper. It teaches kids like me so many valuable principles about hard work, responsibility, planning ahead, being kind to others, and learning from our mistakes. Whenever I'm tempted to slack off or procrastinate, I remember this little fable and it inspires me to make the wiser choice like the diligent ant. I hope you enjoyed hearing aboutwhy this short story means so much to me! Let me know if you have a favorite story too.篇3My Favorite Short Story Taught Me So Much!Hi there! My name is Jamie and I'm in 5th grade. Today I want to tell you all about my very favorite short story and what important lessons I learned from it. Get ready, because this is going to be an awesome story time! The name of the story is "The Velveteen Rabbit" by Margery Williams. It's about a stuffed rabbit toy who feels ignored and unloved because there are so many fancier toys in the nursery. The old worn-out rabbit is really sad, until one night a magical fairy helps him become Real. You see, to be truly Real means you are loved so much that you become real in a way that can't be explained. It's a toy's greatest wish!I just love this story so much. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside every time I read it. I've probably read it like a million times already! There are so many valuable lessons that the Velveteen Rabbit teaches us.First off, the story shows that loving others and being loved in return is the most important thing there is. All the rabbit wantsis to be loved and played with by the boy who owns him. Once the rabbit is finally loved, he miraculously transforms into a Real rabbit. This reminds me that I should always love my family, friends, teachers, and even strangers as much as possible. Spreading love and kindness is what truly matters, way more than any material possessions or privileges.Secondly, the Velveteen Rabbit learns that having fancy appearance or being brand new doesn't make you superior or more special. Despite being old and worn down, the rabbit becomes Real through the boy's love, while the other fancier toys remain unloved. This shows that judging others by their outer appearance is wrong. Instead, we should look at the inner beauty and goodness in one another's hearts. Some of the kindest people don't look like supermodels, but they are some of the most beautiful individuals you'll ever meet.Another big lesson is about being patient and persevering even when things seem hopeless. For a long time, the rabbit waits and waits to become Real. He starts losing his whiskers and his color fades. But he doesn't give up waiting and believing. Eventually, his patience pays off in the most wonderful way! Whenever I feel frustrated that something is taking forever or seems impossible, I remind myself to be patient and keep tryinglike the tenacious Velveteen Rabbit. Good things come to those who wait, as long as you don't quit. The story also emphasizes the importance of having a good imagination. The boy loves playing with the rabbit and imagining all sorts of adventures with him in the woods, on the river, and in the depths of the ocean. This reminds me that using my creativity and mind is a fun way to explore the world, even if I'm stuck inside my room or at school. With a vivid imagination, I can go absolutely anywhere and be anything I want!Another cool takeaway is that the Velveteen Rabbit celebrates the cycle of life, growing up, and moving on. By the end, the rabbit is no longer needed by the boy who is now much older. But that's okay, because the boy has grown up and it's time for the rabbit to continue his journey elsewhere. I've learned that while it's sad to leave people, toys, or things behind as I get older, it's just a natural part of the life process. As long as I hold those precious memories close, they can never be lost or forgotten. Finally, the story makes me joyful knowing that there is an element of magic, wonder, and mystery in our world that can't fully be explained or rationally understood. The fairy who transforms the rabbit is never described or named. She simplyappears, bestows her gift, and vanishes without a trace. This validates the feeling of awe and enchantment I sometimes sense when I gaze at a starry night sky or the sunlight filtering through the trees. There is still so much about our universe that is gloriously inexplicable and supernatural. I'm glad stories like The Velveteen Rabbit remind us to approach life with a sense of magic, curiosity, and humbleness. So those are the many wise lessons I've absorbed from my beloved Velveteen Rabbit tale over the years. Whenever I'm feeling sad, angry, impatient, or unkind, I revisit this classic story and let its timeless messages of love, acceptance, perseverance, creativity, maturity, and wonderment re-center my spirit. I'm forever grateful that Margery Williams gifted the world with such a simple yet profound treasure. Stories really do have the power to transform our minds and souls in amazing ways!篇4My Favorite Story and What I LearnedHi everyone! Today I want to tell you about my all-time favorite story and the important lessons I learned from it. The story is called "The Little Engine That Could" and it's a classic tale that has inspired kids for many generations. The story begins with a long train full of toys and food for all the good little boys and girls on the other side of a huge mountain. The engine at the front of the train had to pull the heavy cars over the mountain, but partway up the steep slope, the engine broke down and couldn't go any further. Oh no!The toys and hungry kids were counting on that train, so they had to find another engine to take over and get the train delivery over the mountain. First, they asked a big freight engine for help. "Can you pull this train over the mountain?" they asked politely. But that big engine just huffed and puffed and said "I can't, I'm too tired to pull trains over the mountain." And off he went on his own way.Next, they found another engine and asked "Won't you please help us by pulling our train?" But that engine also refused, saying "No no no! That train is too heavy and the mountain is too high. I can't possibly pull all those heavy cars over that mountain." And away went engine number two.The toys and kids were starting to lose hope that their train would ever make it over that giant mountain. Just then, they heard a tiny little voice calling out "Maybe I can help!" It was a tiny blue engine that didn't look like it could pull even a singlecar, let alone the whole heavy train. But the little engine insisted on giving it a try.Slowly but surely, the determined little engine hooked itself up to the front of the train. With its little wheels pumping as fast as they could, the engine pulled with every ounce of effort, saying over and over "I think I can, I think I can." Chuffing and puffing up the steep slope, never once stopping or giving up despite the extreme difficulty. The little engine just kept pushing ahead while repeating its mantra of "I think I can, I think I can!"Finally, with one last heroic surge of determination and willpower, the valiant little engine crested that huge mountain while joyfully repeating "I thought I could, I thought I could!" The train full of wonderful surprises was able to keep rolling all the way down to the homes of those eagerly waiting children. Everyone cheered for the little blue engine that showed such bravery and perseverance against all odds. That classic tale of "The Little Engine That Could" is easily my favorite story ever, and it taught me so many valuable lessons that I try to live by every day:Never give up, even when something seems impossible. If you try your absolute hardest and keep persisting with all yourmight, you can overcome even the biggest obstacles through sheer determination and willpower.Believe in yourself! That little engine could have listened to the bigger engines who told it the task was too difficult. But instead, it had confidence in its own abilities and gave it an honest effort instead of giving up before even trying.Stay positive and focus on your goal. The little engine kept repeating the inspiring words "I think I can" over and over, keeping its mind firmly fixed on success rather than doubting itself or getting discouraged.Size doesn't matter, it's the effort and spirit that counts. Even though the little engine was tiny compared to the larger engines, it accomplished what they couldn't by putting in the hard work with a can-do attitude.Help others even when you don't have to. The little engine went out of its way to volunteer and pull that train over the mountain when the bigger engines refused, all to benefit children it didn't even know. Those are just some of the amazing life lessons I took from this timeless tale. Whenever I'm facing a seemingly impossible challenge, I think of that little engine bravely chugging up thathuge mountain against all odds through hard work and perseverance. If it could overcome such an obstacle, then I too can achieve anything I set my mind to as long as I never give up and always give my sincere best effort.I hope the story of the little blue engine inspires all of you just as much as it does me. Always believe in yourself, keep working hard, stay positive, help others, and you'll be able to move mountains too! Thanks for reading my essay about this wonderful story and the important lessons it teaches. I think I can, I think I can, I thought I could!篇5My Favorite Short Story and What I Learned From ItHi there! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. Today I want to tell you about my very favorite short story. It's called "The Velveteen Rabbit" by Margery Williams. This is such a beautiful and touching tale that has taught me so many important lessons about love, friendship, and what it truly means to be "real."The story is about a stuffed rabbit toy who feels ignored and unloved by the little boy who owns him. The rabbit is really sad because all he wants is for the boy to play with him and makehim "real" through the magic of being truly loved. The rabbit watches as the boy dotes on fancier toys while he gets shoved to the back of the nursery. Poor little rabbit! But then, one night, a wise old toy Horse talks to the rabbit. The Horse explains that you become real through being loved, not through being fancy or expensive. When a child really loves you, it makes you Real in a way that can't be undone. The rabbit takes hope in these words.Soon after, the little boy comes down with a scarlet fever. His aunts want to burn all his toys as they think they could spread the sickness. But the boy refuses to give up his old Velveteen Rabbit, which he has been cuddling and loving during his illness. The rabbit is so happy to finally be the boy's favorite! However, the rabbit does end up getting left out in the garden after the boy recovers and goes to the seaside. The rabbit cries as he misses his boy so much. Then, a magical fairy rabbit appears and turns him into a real, live, breathing rabbit as a reward for being so brave and patient while waiting to become Real through the boy's love. Isn't that amazing? There are so many beautiful lessons I've taken from this incredible story:Love is what makes you Real, not money or fancy things. The rabbit was just an old plaything, but because the boy truly loved him, his soul became real and shined through. This teaches that the most valuable things in life are not toys or riches, but the love we give to others and receive from them.Be patient and keep hoping even if things seem sad now. For a long time, the rabbit felt hopeless that the boy would never love or play with him. But he stayed brave and patient, and in the end his hopes came true in the most magical way when he turned into a real rabbit. This shows that if we don't give up during hard times, things can work out in wondrous ways we could never expect!Cherish your loved ones while you can. The saddest part was when the rabbit got left behind and had to sadly watch his boy go to the seaside without him after being so sick. We should remember to spend quality time with our family and friends, showing them every day how much we love them in case we get separated from them for any reason.Friendship and wisdom from others can get you through tough situations. The wise old Horse taught the rabbit all about becoming Real, which allowed the rabbit to stay hopeful whenthings seemed gloomy. We all need good friends and mentors in our lives to guide us when we are struggling or confused. Those are the biggest life lessons I've learned from "The Velveteen Rabbit." It truly is one of the most special stories ever written in my opinion. Whenever I'm feeling sad, worried, or like giving up on something, I remember this book and the rabbit's perseverance and courage in awaiting his turn to become Real. It fills me with hope, patience, and reminds me to cherish every moment with my loved ones.I really want to be as brave and loving as the Velveteen Rabbit. I hope that by following his example, I too can become "Real" in the way that matters most - by living a life filled with love for others. Maybe someday a magical fairy will deem me worthy of becoming a "Real" human for how caring I've been! Probably not, but hey, a kid can dream right? If you've never read this classic tale before, I cannot recommend it enough. Ask your parents to find you a copy - I promise you'll be just as touched by the rabbit's journey as I was. Who knows, maybe it will inspire you to become your most "Real" self too. Thanks for reading, friends!。

THE STEADFAST TIN-SOLDIER

THE STEADFAST TIN-SOLDIER

THE STEADFAST TIN-SOLDIERThere were once upon a time five-and twenty tin-soldiers--all brothers, as they were made out of the same old tin spoon. Their uniform was red and blue, and they shouldered their guns and looked straight in front of them. The first words that they heard in this world, when the lid of the box in which they lay was taken off, were: 'Hurrah, tin-soldiers!' This was exclaimed by a little boy, clapping his hands; they had been given to him because it was his birthday, and now he began setting them out on the table. Each soldier was exactly like the other in shape, except just one, who had been made last when the tin had run short; but there he stood as firmly on his one leg as the others did on two, and he is the one that became famous. There were many other playthings on the table on which they were being set out, but the nicest of all was a pretty little castle made of cardboard, with windows through which you could see into the rooms. In front of the castle stood some little trees surrounding a tiny mirror which looked like a lake. Wax swanswere floating about and reflecting themselves in it. That wasall very pretty; but the most beautiful thing was a little lady, who stood in the open doorway. She was cut out of paper, but she had on a dress of the finest muslin, with a scarf of narrow blue ribbon round her shoulders, fastened in the middle with a glittering rose made of gold paper, which was as large as her head. The little lady was stretching out both her arms, for she was a Dancer, and was lifting up one leg so high in the air that the Tin-soldier couldn't find it anywhere, and thought that she, too, had only one leg.'That's the wife for me!' he thought; 'but she is so grand, and lives in a castle, whilst I have only a box with four-and-twenty others. This is no place for her! But I must make her acquaintance.' Then he stretched himself out behind a snuff-box that lay on the table; from thence he could watch the daintylittle lady, who continued to stand on one leg without losing her balance. When the night came all the other tin-soldiers went into their box, and the people of the house went to bed. Then the toys began to play at visiting, dancing, and fighting. Thetin-soldiers rattled in their box, for they wanted to be out too, but they could not raise the lid. The nut-crackers played at leap-frog, and the slate-pencil ran about the slate; there was such a noise that the canary woke up and began to talk to them, in poetry too! The only two who did not stir from their places were the Tin-soldier and the little Dancer. She remained ontip-toe, with both arms outstretched; he stood steadfastly on his one leg, never moving his eyes from her face. The clock struck twelve, and crack! off flew the lid of the snuff- box; but there was no snuff inside, only a little black imp--that was the beauty of it.'Hullo, Tin-soldier!' said the imp. 'Don't look at things that aren't intended for the likes of you!'But the Tin-soldier took no notice, and seemed not to hear.'Very well, wait till to-morrow!' said the imp. When it was morning, and the children had got up, the Tin-soldier was put in the window; and whether it was the wind or the littleblack imp, I don't know, but all at once the window flew open and out fell the little Tin-soldier, head over heels, from the third- storey window! That was a terrible fall, I can tell you! He landed on his head with his leg in the air, his gun being wedged between two paving-stones.The nursery-maid and the little boy came down at once to look for him, but, though they were so near him that they almost trod on him, they did not notice him. If the Tin-soldier had only called out 'Here I am!' they must have found him; but he did not think it fitting for him to cry out, because he had on his uniform.Soon it began to drizzle; then the drops came faster, and there was a regular down-pour. When it was over, two little street boys came along.'Just look!' cried one. 'Here is a Tin-soldier! He shall sail up and down in a boat!'So they made a little boat out of newspaper, put the Tin-soldier in it, and made him sail up and down the gutter; both the boys ran along beside him, clapping their hands. What great wavesthere were in the gutter, and what a swift current! Thepaper-boat tossed up and down, and in the middle of the stream it went so quick that the Tin-soldier trembled; but he remained steadfast, showed no emotion, looked straight in front of him, shouldering his gun. All at once the boat passed under a long tunnel that was as dark as his box had been.'Where can I be coming now?' he wondered. 'Oh, dear! This is the black imp's fault! Ah, if only the little lady were sitting beside me in the boat, it might be twice as dark for all I should care!'Suddenly there came along a great water-rat that lived in the tunnel.'Have you a passport?' asked the rat. 'Out with your passport!'But the Tin-soldier was silent, and grasped his gun more firmly. The boat sped on, and the rat behind it. Ugh! how he showed his teeth, as he cried to the chips of wood and straw: 'Hold him, hold him! he has not paid the toll! He has not shown hispassport!'But the current became swifter and stronger. The Tin-soldier could already see daylight where the tunnel ended; but in his ears there sounded a roaring enough to frighten any brave man. Only think! at the end of the tunnel the gutter dischargeditself into a great canal; that would be just as dangerous for him as it would be for us to go down a waterfall. Now he was so near to it that he could not hold on any longer. On went the boat, the poor Tin-soldier keeping himself as stiff as he could: no one should say of him afterwards that he had flinched. The boat whirled three, four times round, and became filled to the brim with water: it began to sink! The Tin-soldier was standing up to his neck in water, and deeper and deeper sank the boat, and softer and softer grew the paper; now the water was over his head. He was thinking of the pretty little Dancer, whose face he should never see again, and there sounded in his ears, over and over again:'Forward, forward, soldier bold!Death's before thee, grim and cold!'The paper came in two, and the soldier fell--but at that moment he was swallowed by a great fish.Oh! how dark it was inside, even darker than in the tunnel, and it was really very close quarters! But there the steadfastlittle Tin-soldier lay full length, shouldering his gun.Up and down swam the fish, then he made the most dreadful contortions, and became suddenly quite still. Then it was as if a flash of lightning had passed through him; the daylight streamed in, and a voice exclaimed, 'Why, here is the littleTin-soldier!' The fish had been caught, taken to market, sold, and brought into the kitchen, where the cook had cut it open with a great knife. She took up the soldier between her finger and thumb, and carried him into the room, where everyone wanted to see the hero who had been found inside a fish; but theTin-soldier was not at all proud. They put him on the table,and--no, but what strange things do happen in this world!--the Tin-soldier was in the same room in which he had been before! He saw the same children, and the same toys on the table; and there was the same grand castle with the pretty little Dancer. She wasstill standing on one leg with the other high in the air; she too was steadfast. That touched the Tin-soldier, he was nearly going to shed tin-tears; but that would not have been fitting for a soldier. He looked at her, but she said nothing. All at once one of the little boys took up the Tin-soldier, and threw him into the stove, giving no reasons; but doubtless the little black imp in the snuff-box was at the bottom of this too. There the Tin-soldier lay, and felt a heat that was truly terrible; but whether he was suffering from actual fire, or from the ardour of his passion, he did not know. All his colour had disappeared; whether this had happened on his travels or whether it was the result of trouble, who can say? He looked at thelittle lady, she looked at him, and he felt that he was melting; but he remained steadfast, with his gun at his shoulder. Suddenly a door opened, the draught caught up the little Dancer, and off she flew like a sylph to the Tin-soldier in the stove, burst into flames--and that was the end of her! Then theTin-soldier melted down into a little lump, and when next morning the maid was taking out the ashes, she found him in the shape of a heart. There was nothing left of the little Dancer but hergilt rose, burnt as black as a cinder.。

用英语写一篇自愿做保姆照顾孩子的英语作文

用英语写一篇自愿做保姆照顾孩子的英语作文

用英语写一篇自愿做保姆照顾孩子的英语作文全文共3篇示例,供读者参考篇1Being a Babysitter: My Dream JobHi, my name is Emily and I'm 10 years old. I love kids and my biggest dream is to become a babysitter when I'm a little older! I can't wait until I'm old enough to get paid for spending time with little kids and helping take care of them. In this essay, I'll explain why I want to be a babysitter so much. The main reason I want to babysit is because I absolutely adore children. I think they are the funniest, cutest, most adorable little people in the world! I love playing make-believe games with them and using our imaginations to go on adventures to magical lands. My favorite is pretending we're exploring a fairy forest or going on a quest to find a dragon's treasure. Kids have the most amazing creative minds!I also really enjoy teaching kids new things. My little sister Lily is 5 years old, and I love helping her practice reading simple books or counting numbers. It makes me so happy when she learns something new and gets all excited about it. Her smile andthe proud look on her face is the best feeling ever. As a babysitter, I'd get to keep teaching fun lessons to the kids I watch over.Another perk of babysitting is that I'd get to do really fun activities with the children, like crafts, dancing, singing silly songs, or playing games outdoors. Running around on the playground or having a picnic in the backyard is my idea of a perfect day! I have a huge tub full of craft supplies like markers, stickers,pom-poms, and pipe cleaners. I can't wait to make awesome art projects with kids and get creative together.I'm also a very responsible and mature kid for my age. My parents and teachers are always saying how trustworthy I am. I do my chores and homework without being asked, and I obey all the rules. As a babysitter, I would make sure to closely supervise the kids at all times so they would stay safe. I'm not afraid to enforce rules like no jumping on the furniture or running near the stairs. Keeping kids out of harm's way is my top priority. My friends sometimes complain that younger kids are annoying, but I don't agree at all! I never get irritated with little kids, even if they're fussy or won't stop asking me questions. I'm a very patient person, which is so important when watching over children. I would stay calm if a kid threw a tantrum and findpositive ways to re-direct their energy, like singing a silly song or giving them a snack.Besides my love for children, another great reason I want to be a babysitter is to earn my own money. I could use the cash I make to buy new books, clothes, or supplies for my hobby of jewelry-making. Maybe I'll even save up to get the newest video game system! It would feel so rewarding and grown-up to get paid for doing work I truly enjoy.I've already started practicing my babysitting skills by helping care for my baby cousin and younger siblings. I can successfully give a bottle, change a diaper, put a little one down for a nap, and keep kids entertained for hours. I've learned so many fun games and songs to play with babies and toddlers. My parents say I'm a natural and that I have an amazing nurturing spirit for someone my age.If I become a babysitter, I promise to be the best one ever! The kids will be in great hands with me. I'll make sure they are safe and happy at all times by playing with them, comforting them when they're upset, and following all the parents' rules. We'll read books, do arts and crafts, play pretend, dance around, and have the best time together!Becoming a babysitter is my dream job. In my opinion, there's no better way to spend time than playing with kids, using my imagination, and watching their happy, smiling faces. I'll get to be creative, teach them new things, and form strong bonds with the children. I feel so lucky that my future career will allow me to do something I love more than anything - caring for little kids. Babysitting will be the perfect job for me!篇2Being a Kid BabysitterHi there! My name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. I love little kids and recently started volunteering as a babysitter to help take care of babies and young children. It's been such an awesome experience that I want to tell you all about it!It all began when my mom's friend Mrs. Taylor asked if I could watch her 2-year-old daughter Lily one Saturday afternoon. Mrs. Taylor had to go to some kind of grown-up thing and couldn't find a regular babysitter. My mom knows how much I adore little kids, so she said I could do it if I was willing. Was I willing? You bet!I was a tiny bit nervous at first since I had never actually babysat before, just played with younger kids at familygatherings and at my friends' houses. But my mom went over all the safety rules with me and made sure I knew what to do in case of an emergency. She also showed me how to heat up Lily's little meals, change diapers, and do all that babysitting stuff. I felt ready! When Mrs. Taylor dropped Lily off, the poor little thing cried because she didn't want her mommy to leave. But I gave her a great big hug and my favorite stuffed animal to cuddle, and that seemed to cheer her up. We played lots of games like patty-cake and peek-a-boo, sang nursery rhymes together, and built towers with those colorful plastic blocks that come crashing down. Lily thought that was just hysterical! We also read a few picture books and I tried voices for the different characters, which she loved.Lunchtime was a bit messy but I managed to get some food into Lily and cleaned her up after. Then it was naptime, but Lily didn't want to sleep. She kept climbing out of her crib until I got a great idea. I put on the CD of那little songs my mom packed and cuddled Lily in the rocking chair, gently swaying side to side. Before the third song was over, she had fallen into a sweet, peaceful slumber. Phew! The rest of the afternoon was a breeze. When Lily woke up, we had a little snack together and played with her baby dolls. She even "fed" me using a tiny plastic bottle! We also went outbide and drew pictures on the sidewalk with chalk. I chased Lily around for a bit until she got tuckered out, and then we went back inside for another story before Mrs. Taylor came to pick her up.When her mom arrived, Lily ran over with a big smile to show her the picture she had colored of the two of us playing. Mrs. Taylor gave me a giant hug and thanked me profusely for being such a great little babysitter. I was beaming with pride! As Lily waved bye-bye, I knew I had found my calling.Since then, I've babysat for Mrs. Taylor and a few other families several more times. Every child is unique, but I've learned how to keep them safe, entertained, and comforted when they miss their parents. Some are real live wires who want to play make-believe and run around nonstop, while others are more mellow and just enjoy cuddling, reading stories, and playing with quieter toys. Either way, I have a blast bonding with them and seeing the world through their wondrous, innocent eyes. What I love most about babysitting is becoming part of these little people's lives and helping them grow, even if just fora few hours. Maybe I'm reading them their favorite book in those silly voices they adore so much and teaching them new words. Or maybe I'm being the "личный помощьuc" in their epic private play world of dragons and castles. Sometimes I'm the calm, nurturing presence who rocks them to sleep while singing gentle songs. It's all so precious and fulfilling.Of course, babysitting isn't all fun and games – it's hard work too! There's keeping these little bundles of energy safely occupied, making sure they don't get into anything hazardous, and dealing with tears, tantrums and every form of bodily mess you can imagine. It's mentally and physically draining some days. But you know what? I wouldn't trade it for the world. With every babysitting job, I'm practicing patience, responsibility, and other skills that will help me become a caring, capable mom myself someday. I'm learning to calmly deal with whatever challenges come my way, be it cleaning up major spills, settling fights over toys, or remaining cool when babIes wail inconsolably. My parents say I'm becoming so nurturing and mature through this experience. Who knew playing babysitter could teach me so much? When I think about the future, I picture myself not only being a mom, but perhaps opening my own little homebabysitting service or daycare. I could play with kids and guide their development full-time – what a dream! I'm sure babysitting will help prepare me for careers in childhood education, nannying, pediatrics or anything involving caring for little ones. The possibilities are endless when you love kids as much as I do.So if your parents ever need a babysitter, let them know I'm available! I may be just a kid myself, but I'm a darn good one when it comes to keeping your little brother or sister safe while showering them with love, patience and silly games. I'll make sure they have a total blast until you're back from that terribly important kid business you have to tend to. Babysitting is my favorite job in the whole world!篇3Being a Nanny for the SummerHi, my name is Emma and I'm 10 years old. This summer I got to be a nanny and take care of little kids! It was the best summer ever.It all started when my friend Sophia told me her parents were looking for someone to watch her baby brother while they were at work. Sophia's mom asked if I would be interested in being their nanny and I said "Yes, yes, a million times yes!" Ilove little kids so much and always wanted a job taking care of them.On my first day, I was really nervous but also super excited. Sophia's parents went over all the rules and schedules with me. The baby's name was Liam and he was 8 months old. They told me when to feed him bottles, when his nap times were, and all about his bedtime routine. It was a lot to remember! When Sophia's parents left for work, it was just me and Liam. At first he cried a little bit because he didn't know me. But I rocked him gently, sang nursery rhymes, and eventually he calmed down. Phew! We made it through that first hurdle.Over the next few weeks, Liam and I became the best of friends. We had the best routine. In the mornings, I fed him bananas or applesauce for breakfast while watching cartoons together. Then we played on the floor with his toys - he especially loved shaking this rattle I brought that made funny sounds.Naptime could sometimes be hard to get him to sleep, but I discovered the magic trick was reading him stories in a soft, soothing voice. My favorite one to read was Goodnight Moon. As soon as I said "Goodnight noises everywhere," his little eyes started getting heavy! After his nap, we went to the park most days. I pushed Liam in the baby swing and he giggled so happily. We also did fun things like chasing bubbles I blew with my bubble wand. One time we even had a teddy bear picnic on a blanket and "ate" pretend food together. When Sophia got home from camp in the afternoons, we all played together for a couple hours. We put on dance performances for stuffed animal audiences, acted out stories we made up, and drew endless pictures with crayons. Sophia was super helpful in entertaining her little brother. Then after dinner, it was time for Liam's bedtime routine. I gave him a nice warm bath with his rubber ducky friends. Then I massaged his sweet-smelling baby lotion all over him. Finally, I rocked him while singing gentle songs until he fell into a peaceful sleep. Some days I even got to stay late and have a sleepover after Liam went to bed. Sophia's parents paid me extra and we watched movies, did makeovers, and stayed up way too late whispering and giggling. It felt like having a fun slumber party every night! On weekends, Sophia's parents didn't have to work, so our whole household got to go on little outings together. We wentto the children's museum, the petting zoo, and the sprayground at the park. Liam babbled and shrieked with excitement over all the new sights and sounds. I cherished getting to witness his joy and wonder at the world. My favorite part about being a nanny was just cuddling and playing endlessly with Liam. He was such a cheerful, smiley baby. Spending time with him was like getting a glimpse into the precious innocence of childhood all over again. I felt so lucky to be his caretaker.Overall, my nanny job was hard work for sure. There were messy diapers, random crying fits, and lots of cleaning up after Liam's trails of discarded toys and crumbs. But all the hard moments were definitely worth it to be part of his life and development.I got to be his buddy, his playmate, his protector, his role model. I taught him words, sang him songs, held him when he was sad. In return, Liam filled me with so much happiness and renewed my sense of imagination and curiosity.Watching Liam grow and hit milestones that summer was the most incredible thing. In just a few short months, he went from doing a cute little army crawl to standing up while holdingonto furniture. Soon he was even taking his first wobbly steps! I felt like a proud parent witnessing all his "firsts."I was actually really sad when the summer ended and I had to stop being Liam's nanny. We had formed such a special bond. On my last day, I gave him a huge hug and he grabbed my face and cheeks with his little hands like he knew I'd be gone. I whispered "I love you" and made him promise to always be my friend. Luckily I still get to go over sometimes and babysit! That summer job was the most fun and meaningful thing I've ever done. Taking care of a baby took a lot of hard work, responsibility, and patience for sure. But it was also silly, joyful, and magical. I have so many precious memories I'll never forget.I think being a nanny for a summer is something every kid should get to experience if they can. You learn amazing roles like caring, nurturing, and teaching. You develop skills inmulti-tasking, organizing, and problem-solving. Plus you get endless snuggles and baby giggles! What could be better than that?So if you ever get the chance to be a nanny or babysitter, I highly recommend going for it. Get ready for some hard work, but also an incredibly rewarding and special experience. You'llmake a little one's entire world, and they'll make your heart grow three sizes in return. Thanks for an unforgettable summer, Liam!。

爱,带来了魔力般的变化。

T HERE was once a velveteen rabbit, and in the beginning he was really splendid. On Christmas morning he sat in the top of the Boy’s stocking, There were other things in the stocking, nuts and oranges and a toy engine, and a clockwork mouse, but the Rabbit was quite the best of all. For at least two hours the Boy loved him, and then Aunts and Uncles came to dinner, and in the excitement of looking at all the new presents the Velveteen Rabbit was forgotten.

For a long time he lived in the toy cupboard or on the nursery floor, and no one thought very much about him. He was naturally shy, and being only made of velveteen, some of the more expensive toys quite snubbed him. The mechanical toys were very superior, and looked down upon every one else; they were full of modern ideas, and pretended they were real. Between them all the poor little Rabbit was made to feel himself very insignificant and commonplace, and the only person who was kind to him at all was the Skin Horse. The skin horse was old, but very wise. 很长时间以来,他就呆在玩具架子上或者育儿室的地板上,没有人关心他。

There were so many toys in the nursery. On the top of the cabinet stood the penny bank, made of clay in the shape of a little pig. Of course, he had a slit in his back, which had been enlarged with a knife so that silver dollars also could be put in; and two such dollars had been slipped into the box, along with a great number of pennies. The Money Pig was stuffed so full he could no longer rattle, which is the highest honor a Money Pig can attain. There he stood, high up on the shelf, looking down on everything else in the room. He knew very well that with what he had in his stomach he could buy all the other toys, and that's what we call having self-confidence.The others thought the same, but they didn't speak of it, because there were so many other things to talk about. The cabinet drawer was half open, and a large doll appeared; she was somewhat old, and her neck had been riveted. She peeped out and said, "Nowlet's play human beings; that's always something!"Now there was a great commotion, and even the pictures on the walls turned around to show they also had a backside; but that didn't mean they objected. It was the middle of the night; the moon shone in through the windows and gave free lighting. They were ready to begin the game now, and all of them, even the children's Gocart, which certainly belonged to the coarser, out-of-door-toys, were invited to join the fun."Everyone has his own particular value," said the Gocart. "We can't all be noblemen. There must be some to do the work, as they say."The Money Pig was the only one to receive a written invitation; he stood so high they all thought that he could not hear a verbal message. He didn't answer to say if he would come or not; but if he was to take part they would have to arrange it so that he could enjoy the game from his own home; they would have to make their plans accordingly, and this they did.The little toy theatre was at once set up in such a way that the Money Pig could look straight into it. They planned to start with a comedy, and afterward have tea and a discussion for mental exercise, and they began with this latter part immediately. The Rocking Horse talked about training and thoroughbreds, and the Gocart spoke about railways and steam power; all of which were subjects belonging to their own professions, so it was proper they should speak on them. The Clock talked about politics-tick, tock!- and knew the time of day, though it was said that it didn't run very well. The Bamboo Cane just stood there, for he was very proud of his brass ferule and his silver top, for he was mounted above and below. And on the sofa lay two embroidered cushions, very pretty and very stupid. And now the play began.Everybody sat and watched, and the audience had been asked to applaud, crack, and stamp as they were pleased. But the Riding Whip said he never cracked for old folks, only for young ones who weren't yet married."I crack for every body," said the Cracker."One must, of course, be in the proper place!" thought the Spittoon. And such were their thoughts as the play went on.The play was worthless, but it was well performed. All of the characters turned their painted sides to the audience, for they were made to be looked at only from that side, not the other. All of them acted splendidly, coming out far beyond the footlights, because the wires were too long, but this made them all the easier to see. The mended Doll was quite overcome with excitement, so deeply moved that the rivets in her neck got loose. And in his own way, the Money Pig was so enchanted that he resolved to do something for one of the actors, to remember him in his will as the one who should be publicly buried with him when the proper time came.It was such enjoyment for them that they gave up having tea and went on with theirmental exercises. That's what they called playing men and women, and there was no harm in that, because they were only playing. Each one thought of him and what the Money Pig might think about him, but the Money Pig's thoughts went farthest, for he was thinking about his will and his burial. And when would it be time for this?Certainly far sooner than you expect. Crash! He fell down from the cabinet, and there he lay on the floor, smashed into bits and pieces, while the pennies hopped and danced about. The smallest spun like tops, and the bigger ones rolled away, particularly one big silver dollar who wanted to go out and see the world. And so he did, and so did all the rest. The pieces of the Money Pig were swept into the dustbin, but the next day there was a new Money Pig standing on the cabinet. It didn't yet have a penny in it, so it couldn't rattle, and in that much at least it was just like the old one.But that was a beginning-and it's a good place for us to come to an end.。
