Squinted eyes –mistrust. Glassy eyes - extreme weakness. Vacant look - concentrated reflection Reluctance to make direct eye contact - shame, deception. Fixed look into eyes (with dilated pupils) - sexual interest. Eyes moving back and forth (shifty eyes) - anxiety, shame, lying, fear, neurasthenia • Looking away while talking - losing of interest to conversation, too long monologue of the partner.
The Reason: Easterns focused mostly on the eyes, but westerns scanned the whole face.
The Conclusion:
Information from the eyes is often ambiguous(模糊不 清的) and confusing in these expressions, with consequences for crosscultural communication and globalisation.

The Study: 13 easterns and 13 westerns were asked to categorized people’s different facial expressions on the pictures.
