Unit 5 Living in harmony
(The First Period)
教学目标：
知识目标
1.学习课文中重点词、词组、句型和语法。

对课文进行整体阅读。

2.让学生了解故事的组成部分，理解小说故事的组成要素：如人物形象、故事情节和高
潮等。

能力目标
提高学生对故事的理解力，并根据人物的动作和言语来体会人物的性格。

情感目标
帮助学生进一步理解“人与自然”的关系。

培养学生的环境保护意识，认识到整个生态环境对人类生存的重要性。

教学方法
采用分角色朗读课文，小组讨论，分析人物性格等具体活动，达到理解故事的目的。

教学过程：
I. Pre-reading: Lead in the topic.
1) Show pictures o f two choices to a valley.
2) Let the students have a discussion:
1. Which alternative will make more profit?
2. Which alternative is better? Why?
3) Fill in a table about the reasons of different choices.
II. While-reading
1. Skimming: Skim the story for the gist and answer the questions below.
