第Ⅰ卷
第一部分听力(共两节,满分30 分)(略)
第二部分阅读理解(共两节,满分40分)

Even if you don’t have to work, eat or sleep, you won’t be able to get through all information on blogs and social networks. The problem we face is that much of this information seems very interesting at first glance. Actually, much of the information is unimportant, disposable and it distracts(分心) us from more meaningful pursuits. Worse still, when we spend lots of time consuming information from our social media streams,we may find it hard to concentrate on what we’re doing and we have a tendency to forget what we have consumed anyway.
A new study from Sweden’s KTH Royal Institute of Technology has found that too much social media exposure actually reduces your ability to process information and depletes your short-term working memory.
Our working memory plays a critical role in our capacity to filter information and remember what is valuable but it is not a limitless resource. Erik Fransén,a professor in Computer Science at KTH and the leader of this new study on social media overload says this can explain why our capacity for processing information begins to fail when we attempt to stuff more information in the working memory.
In fact, when you try to process the information like speech or video, you are going to need partly the same system of working memory,so you are reducing your own working memory capacity. And
when you try to store many things in your working memory, you get less good at processing information.
It is the periods of downtime of your brain—preferably disconnected from the distractions of your computer or smartphone—that are needed for memory consolidation and transferring important information to your exposure to new information. Besides, you can empty your mind of thoughts quickly to relax completely,go for a short walk or spend a few minutes listening to music. This will help you improve your capacity to process information and increase your productivity.
1.What can we learn about social media overload from Paragraph 1?
A.It distracts our attention.
B.It is beneficial to us.
C.It brings us whatever we want.
D.It keeps us informed of everything.
2.Why does your capacity for processing information begin fall sometimes?
A.Much of the information is unimportant.
B.You don’t make the most of your brain.
C.You’re less good at processing information.
D.Your working memory is a limited resource.
3.What does the underlined word “downtime” in the last paragraph probably mean?
A.Support. B.Relaxation.
C.Increase. D.Loss.

Americans,especially the millennials(千禧一代),are always glued(固着于)to their phones. A
common day of the average university student in America starts off like this:an alarm clock wakes you up,which is quickly followed by checking social media such as Twitter and Facebook. Once in classes, you are again attracted by your buzzing phone and access to the Internet rather than pay attention to the lecturing professor. Then you have lunch with some friends, only to look up from your screen to realize that no one has said a word in five minutes and instead all are looking at their phones. Once the day ends, you can't help checking all forms of social media again before finally being able to shut your eyes only to repeat this vicious cycle the next day.
Cyberbullying(网络霸凌),a concept unknown before,is now in fashion. Many of the millennials are using the Internet to make jokes about others to points of extremes. The Internet gives cowards bravery;people feel like their actions and words have no bad results because they cannot see the ache it causes another.
Millennials also think that whatever information shows up on their screens must be taken as truth, whether the material is reliable(可靠的)or not.
Social media is not all bad, however. People are still able to use social media to connect with friends and family who live a great distance away. With a few clicks of a button, someone could make another person smile,or give words of hope and encouragement to a friend in need,or even help repair a broken relationship. Cyberspace is a vortex(漩涡)that is easy to get caught up in,but we must find a balance to keep both feet in reality while traveling across the online world.

A.You can't break away from your phone.

5.What can be learned about the millennials?
A.They often mistake facts for personal opinions.
B.They prefer to communicate face to face.
C.They are often made fun of in the cyberspace.
D.They don't make their own judgement.
6.What's the author's purpose of writing the text?
A.To state the ill effect of social media.
B.To prove the benefit of cyberspace.
C.To suggest using the social media wisely.
D.To introduce the function of phones.
7.Which way of using social media is advised by the writer?
A.Being glued to the phones all the time.

The consumer always has had to be clever, but with the economy worse and worse, the stakes (赌注)have been raised. The sharks are out there attracting us in,desperate for our money. You can't believe everything you read, even in a newspaper.
I just saw an airline ad for holiday travel, promising me in VERY LARGE type that I could go almost anywhere for $199.Then,when I looked a little closer, there was a star that referred me to the tiny type at the bottom of the page that the $199 was a oneway fare. But I couldn't make a oneway trip. I had to buy a roundtrip ticket.
I don't have a clue why they didn't just say the roundtrip ticket was $ 398.In fact,I think it's a much more powerful selling point. For just under $400 you're able to return home from a holiday. Who in their
right mind would want a oneway ticket?
But perhaps the cruelest marketin g trick done on us is the “calories per serving (一份食物的热量)” on food packaging. For years,I lived happily with the belief that each package was a serving. I didn't realize that each box or bag had a number of servings in it. So I ate. Who ever believed a whole bag of potato chips could have only 150 calories?Me. And yes,I'm a fool.
But once I learned the trick that had been played on me,I became bored. I would multiply the number of servings in the bag with the calories per serving, quickly realizing millions of calories were hiding in those containers.
I finally calmed myself down and now don't even look at the calories per serving. It makes life easier. That's why my recent purchase of the first box of holiday eggnog (蛋奶酒) was such a pleasure. Santa can count the servings. I'll drink till I sleep. If only that mattress (床垫) were on sale. 8.Consumers always have had to be clever because .
A.most people are lacking money
B.newspapers always tell false stories
C.there are many attractive salesmen around
D.they are easily cheated by ads or something
9.In the author's opinion,the price of $199 was .
A.too high to accept
B.reasonable to pay
C.equal to $ 400 in reality
D.not practical at all
10.Why does the author think of himself as a fool?
A.He ate a lot of food poor in calories.
B.He believed potato chips were healthy food.
C.He thought each serving had few calories.
D.He mistook calories of per serving for each bag's.
11.What's the main idea of the text?
A.Goods on sale are usually bad.
B.Ads today are hard to understand.
C.Buyers should beware of marketing tricks.
D.Forgetting the calories makes life easier.

It's early morning, and Katie Smith hears a rooster crowing (报晓).It's time to get up and start working. She and her husband,Chris Cashen, start the day early. They own and run the Farm at Miller's Crossing,in Hudson,New York.
With the help of 10 workers and, sometimes, the Cashen kids—Lael,12,Connelly,10,AnneMae,8,and Christopher John,6 —Smith and Cashen harvest crops during much of the year. They grow vegetables and other plants. They also raise and care for some animals.

As fall nears, workers try to finish the daily harvesting while there is still daylight. The crops are sold through programs that provide buyers with fresh produce weekly.
Living on a farm has its perks. The Cashen kids swim in a river from which the crops get their water. They ride their bikes in wide-open spaces. When harvesting tomatoes, they sometimes have exciting tomato fights. They have a big family with which to share their adventures.
Everyone takes part in the business. The kids feed the horses. The boys care for the pigs. Lael says she likes transferring plants and selling produce.“It's fun and really busy,’’ says Lael,“but it's just a part of life.’’

参考答案:
Dear David,
I am sorry to say that I can’t go to the library with you on Friday afternoon.
I have just found I have to attend an important class meeting that afternoon. I hope the change will not cause you too much trouble.
Shall we go to Saturday morning? We can set out early so that we will have more time to read and select books. If it’s convenient for you, let’s meet at 8:00 outside the school gate. If not,let me know what time suits you. I should be available any time after school next week.
Yours,
Li Hua。
