One Way to Solve the Problem
To deal with the air pollution caused by vehicles in cities is a challenging job. My suggestion is to produce vehicles powered by solar energy.
Compared with mineral fuels such as gasoline, solar energy is inexhaustible in supply. The growth of cities and increase of vehicles call for more supply of energy, but there is a limit to the reserve of mineral fuels. So solar energy with its endless supply is one of our solutions to energy crisis. The second advantage of solar energy is its cleanliness. Traditional vehicles operating on gasoline give of exhaust, causing damage to human health and polluting the air. From the perspective of environmental protection, solar energy is a much better choice. After the new technology becomes economically feasible, the sky over cities will be brighter, and the air will no longer be a threat to our health.
Because of the two benefits of using solar energy as a new fuel, we should spend more money on the research which can make our dream come true.

Conversation One
M: Where are you working these days?
W: I'm working at the restaurant around the station.
M: What's it like working in a restaurant?
W: Well, it's... busy times are busy, but boringsometimes. It's just usual work: washing dishes, serv ing. It's pretty normal, not a big deal job.
(8) I really like it, but at the same time I'mlooking for more. I think I should look for a desk job or something.
M: Oh, a desk job! You really work hard.
W: What about you? Any preference after graduation?
M: I don't know. Maybe I could work at a... maybe a clothing store.
W: Oh, really!
M: (9) I do enjoy fashion, and I need to update my wardrobe, so a little discount would benice. W: I hear that there's an opening at Bloomingdale's.
M: Oh, awesome! But... umm...
W: You should give it a try.
M: Maybe. But I'm not really a people person, though.
W: A people person? What do you mean?
M: (10) I can't just go up to new people and start talking to them. It's a little difficult for me.
W: You can make it. But in my point of view, sometimes I think that's sort of a little annoying, you know, someone just starts talking with you with words like "Oh, this looks good on you!"
M: Yes, I understand. They use some very strong mind tricks to get you to buy things.
W: Yeah. Well, you're good at mind tricks, aren't you?
M: I was good at being played by mind tricks, but now good at doing mind tricks.
W: Well, I guess you still have nine months left.
M: Yeah, it's a little depressing though, (11) having to be responsible for myself 100%.
W: Good luck!
M: Thanks!

Afamous building... turning 101 years old this year. A celebration is planned for Grand Central Terminal...

【小题17】短文中提到...the magnificent celestial ceiling above them... It's a mirror image.

A ten-year-longfight against plans... helped create the modem preservation movement.

(19) Like medicalstudents, many law students are deeply in debt bythe time they finish their Juris Doctor, or JD degree. Those who take out loans borrow an average ofaround 125,000 dollars to att end a private school. The average for public law school is about75,000 dollars.
Almost all graduates must pass a bar examination to get a license to practice law.
(20) This isa professional test administered by states. New York University Law School professor, SamuelEstreicher, has written a paper about bar exam requirements.
(21) Professor Estreichersuggests that more students should be allowed to take the bar exam after t wo years of lawschool. He notes that this was more common in the past. He also suggests a morep rofessional instead of a more academic program of study. Learning more aboutprofessional skills, he says, would better prepare a lawyer to serve the needs of averageAmericans.
Some schools offer a two-year program, in addition to three-year traditional courses of study. (22) Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago became the country's first top law schoolt o add an accelerated program——that was in 2009. Northwestern has the same requirementsfor ac celerated students as for three years students. They must learn the same material andpay the same price as students in the traditional program.
Some lawyers argue against two year programs. They question whether many law firms wouldwan t to hire lawyers without that third year of law school.
19. What situation may the most law students be in after graduation?
20. Who administers the bar exam?
21. What suggestions does Prof. Estreicher make?
22. What kind of program does Northwestern University School of Law provide?

【小题19】A
费,...many law students are deeply in debt by thetime they finish their Juris Doctor, or JD degree 即“很多法学专业的学生读完法学博士或者拿到法学学位后都债台高筑”,所以答案为选
项 A。

This is a professional test administered by states.

是...more students should beallowed to take the bar exam after two years of law school,即“应该允许更多的法学学生在人学两年后就参加执业考试。

Northwestern University School of Law... to add an accelerated program...

选项中的 lasts for a shorter time 与原文中的 accelerated 相对应。

But sometimes, new words appea r that canconfuse even native speakers. Each year, a new set of words and expression is added to t hedictionary, reflecting the changing tastes and habits of a nation.
(24) Members of the public were invited to submit new words and phrases to the Collins onlinedic tionary, around 80 of which were chosen to appear in the new edition. They range fromslang or co lloquial terms, to words describing food, technology or scientific ideas. Maybe you know a "bridezilla", a play on words todescribe a woman whose behavior in planning her wedding is intolerable.
(25) If you're healthconscious, you might be filling your supermarket pushcart with super foods.
Sometimes, learning a language can be tough and, with new words being added all the time, don't p anic if you find that you've forgotten the name of something. Now, you can safely call itan oojama flip, instead.

learn to develop their reasoningability则包含在该段
Theyalso learn how to cope with personal problems as well as learn how to thi nk,to makedecisions, to analyse and evaluate
