Teaching aims
nguage goals:
Learn about the information about “How was Liu Xiang trained to be the best.?
2.Ability goals:
Ss develop their reading and writing abilities by understanding the passage in chronological order,and try to write one,
3.Emotion and values
Encourage the Ss to be hard-working like Liu Xiang,and face the difficulties they meet.
Teaching steps:
Step1 Lead-in
1)Ss say what you know about Liu Xiang and how he became a hero.
2)Teacher shows the video to arouse the students’interest and rise their emotion, Step2 Pre-reading
Task1 Listen and read the passage and choose the main idea.
Step3 While –reading
Task2 Reading Para.1 and answer:After he became famous ,what happened to him in 2004?
Task3 Read Para.2-3,then answer the questions:
(1)How old is Liu Xiang now?
(2)When did he go to the Sports School?
(3)Was he encouraged to trained for hurdling at first?
(4)Who trained him?
(5)When was the special programme set up? What was it for?
Then ask the Ss to retell the two paragraphs with the help of the key words.
Task 4 Read Para 4-5,then number the sentences.
Further details:let the Ss know how to use the details to make their passages lively.
Task 6 Listen to the recording ,then match the years with the notes.(Activity 3) Step4 Post-reading
Task7:Cnomplete the passage with the correct form of the words in the box.(Activity 4)
Task 7 Use some words to describe Liu Xiang.
Task 8 Continue to write a paragraph about Liu Xiang.
Task 9 Further understanding:To learn Liu Xiang’s spirit, and face the difficulties they meet.Give them some tips.
