My Best Friend's Birthday Surprise
My best friend Lily's birthday was coming up and I really wanted to do something special for her. Lily is the kindest, funniest, and most loyal friend I could ask for. We've been inseparable since we met in kindergarten. I wanted to throw her an amazing birthday party to show her how much I appreciate our friendship.
The first thing I had to do was figure out what to get her for a present. Lily loves reading, so I thought a new book would be a great idea. But which book? She has so many already. I decided to ask her older sister Sophie for advice. Sophie told me that Lily had been wanting to read the entire Harry Potter series, but only had the first three books. Perfect! I would get her the rest of the books.
My parents took me to the bookstore that weekend. When I saw how thick and heavy the last few Harry Potter books were, I got a little worried. How would I be able to carry them all? And
they were kind of expensive too. But this was for my best friend's birthday. I didn't care how much it cost or how heavy they were, I was getting her those books!
With the present taken care of, it was time to start planning the party. I asked my mom if we could have it at our house and she said yes, as long as I helped decorate and clean up. Of course I agreed right away. This was going to be the best party ever!
Mom suggested having the party on the Saturday after Lily's actual birthday since that would give us more time to get ready. I made a guest list of all our closest friends - Sarah, Emma, Ava, Sophia, and a few others from our class. Then I had to figure out party games, food, decorations, and activities to keep everyone entertained.
I decided we would play classic games like pin the tail on the donkey, musical chairs, and hot potato. For food, we would have pizza, veggie trays, cupcakes, and candy. As for decorations, I wanted a Harry Potter theme since that's what Lily was getting for her present. Mom took me to the party store to get plates, cups, banners, and balloons with Harry Potter pictures on them.
In the week leading up to the party, I had Mom help me make wands out of paper and lollipop sticks for all the guests. I wrote out instructions for some Harry Potter-style games and
activities too. We would have a potion-making station with edible "ingredients" like gummy worms and chocolate frogs. There would also be a Quidditch area where we could toss a playground ball back and forth trying to get it through hoops.
Finally, the day of the party arrived! I was so excited but also a little nervous. What if Lily didn't like the decorations or the games weren't fun? I shouldn't have worried though, because as soon as Lily arrived and saw everything, her face lit up with the biggest smile.
"Olivia, you did all this for me?" she asked in amazement. I just nodded with a huge grin.
The party was a huge success! Everyone had a blast making their own wands and "potions." The Quidditch games got pretty competitive, in a fun way. We played all the classic games and danced around like crazy during the musical chairs rounds. And of course, Lily loved her Harry Potter book present.
As we all sang happy birthday to Lily and she blew out the candles, I felt so happy and proud. Seeing the smile on my best friend's face and knowing I had helped make her birthday so special was the best feeling in the world. I would do anything to make Lily feel as appreciated as she makes me feel every single day.
That night after everyone left and we had cleaned everything up, I gave Lily a big hug and said "Happy birthday, best friend. You mean everything to me."
She hugged me back just as tightly and replied "I'll never forget this day. Thank you, Olivia. You're the best friend anyone could ask for."
Those words made all the hard work and planning worth it. I can't wait to start thinking of ideas for Lily's birthday next year!

A Special Birthday Surprise
I could hardly sleep last night because I was just too excited! My best friend Emily's birthday is tomorrow, and I've been planning a huge surprise party for her. It's going to be the best birthday ever!
Emily and I have been best friends since we were babies. Our moms are best friends too and they met at a mommy-and-me class when we were just little babies. We've been inseparable ever since. Emily is the nicest, funniest, and coolest person I know. She always has the best ideas for games to play at recess and she's really good at sports too. Plus she's super smart and gets really good grades. I'm so lucky to have her as my best friend!
For her birthday this year, I wanted to do something really special. First, I had to get her the perfect present. I saved up all my allowance for two whole months! I'm not gonna tell you exactly what I got her because that would ruin the surprise. But it's something I know she'll absolutely love. I went to the mall with my mom and we must have gone into a million different stores until I finally found just the right gift. I was so excited when I saw it that I could barely contain myself! The cashier lady probably thought I was crazy from how big I was smiling.
After I got Emily's present, it was time to start planning the party! I had my mom help me make invitations to give out to all of our friends. I used pink and purple construction paper because those are Emily's favorite colors. I drew pictures of unicorns and rainbows because Emily is obsessed with unicorns. We printed out a bunch of copies and I handed them out to everyone in our class. I was so nervous that someone would spill the beans and ruin the surprise for Emily! But luckily everyone was able to keep the secret.
My parents said we could have the party at our house in the backyard. My dad set up a bouncy castle, which is gonna be so fun! My mom made a decoration area with colored pencils, stickers, and those funky scissors that cut cool patterns so we can
all make birthday cards for Emily. I picked out a birthday cake too - it's in the shape of a unicorn! When you blow out the candles, colorful sprinkles come shooting out of the unicorn's horn. So awesome!
For games at the party, we're going to play pin-the-tail on the unicorn, have a unicorn ring toss, and do a unicorn piñata too. Can you tell Emily really likes unicorns? We'll have pizza and chicken nuggets for dinner since those are everyone's favorites. And of course, presents! I can't wait to see Emily's face when she opens my gift.
I really hope the party is a total surprise and that Emily has the best birthday ever. She deserves it since she's such an amazing friend. I put so much time and effort into planning this because I wanted to show Emily how much I care about her and appreciate her friendship. I'm going to cherish the memories of this birthday forever!
Just thinking about the look on Emily's face when we all yell "Surprise!" gives me butterflies in my tummy. I really hope she loves everything I planned and that she has the best 9th birthday a kid could ask for. She's going to be surrounded by all her favorite people, eating her favorite foods, and just having a blast
being the center of attention for the whole day. I'm so excited for tomorrow!

My Best Friend's Birthday Surprise
My very best friend Sarah was turning 10 years old and I really wanted to do something super special for her birthday. Sarah is the nicest, funniest, and coolest girl I know. She's always smiling and laughing, and she makes everyone around her happy too. I've known her since we were tiny babies and she's been my bestie forever.
I started planning her birthday surprise a few months in advance because it was going to be huge! First, I had to get her a really awesome present. Something she would absolutely love. I saved up all my allowance money for weeks and weeks. I did lots of extra chores around the house to earn a bit more too. Washing dishes, folding laundry, feeding the dog - you name it, I did it!
After what felt like forever, I finally had enough money saved up. 52.18 to be exact! I was so excited to go shopping. My mom took me to the mall one Saturday and we spent hours looking around at all the stores. There were so many cool things to
choose from. Clothes, toys, books, games, art supplies. Too many options!
I almost got her a giant teddy bear that was taller than me. But then I remembered that for her last birthday, she got a teddy bear from her grandma. So a stuffed animal was out. I looked at some pretty jewelry next, but Sarah always loses her little treasures. Her mom would just get mad if she lost an expensive necklace.
Then I spotted the most perfect gift of all - a huge arts and crafts set! It came with colored pencils, crayons, paints, markers, glue, scissors, construction paper, and all sorts of other craft supplies. Sarah loves doing artsy things so I knew she'd be so happy. The kit was 49.99 so it used up almost all of my money, but it was worth every penny.
With the present figured out, it was time to start planning the party. Sarah's parents said I could have a sleepover birthday party for her at their house. Yes! A sleepover party is pretty much the best thing ever.
First, I had to make the guest list. Obviously Sarah was number one on the list. Then I wrote down our other closest friends - Emma, Ava, Sophia, and Olivia. Six girls total including
me and the birthday girl. We've all beenbesties since preschool so it was going to be an epic night.
Next, my mom helped me make invitations on the computer to hand out at school. They said "You're invited to Sarah's 10th Sleepover Birthday Bash!" and had a picture of a slumber party on them. So cute!
After the invitations were taken care of, it was time to plan activities and snacks for the party. You can't have a proper sleepover without fun games, yummy foods, and dancing!
For games, we decided to do a scavenger hunt, truth or dare, makeovers, and watch a few movies. We planned to order pizza for dinner since that's everyone's favorite food. And have loads of junk food snacks like chips, candy, soda, and popcorn. For breakfast the next morning, we'd make yummy cinnamon rolls. Mmm my mouth is watering just thinking about it!
Decorations were very important too. We printed out big letters that spelled "HAPPY BIRTHDAY SARAH!" to hang up. There would be balloons everywhere in her favorite colors - purple and teal. Colorful streamers and confetti too. Basically a rainbow sleepover extravaganza!
I was in charge of making the party playlist as well. All the latest hits from Taylor Swift, Harry Styles, Olivia Rodrigo, and The Kid LAROI. Get ready to dance all night long! My mom bought us some fun accessories like glow sticks and funky sunglasses to make it a real disco party.
Finally, the big day arrived! Sarah's mom dropped her off at 5pm, pretending like it was just a casual Saturday sleepover hangout at our place. When Sarah walked through the front door, we all jumped out and yelled "SURPRISE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!" Her jaw dropped and she covered her mouth in shock. And then the biggest, happiest smile I've ever seen spread across her face. Success!
We played games and danced around like crazy people all evening. Stuffing ourselves with pizza, chips, and soda. At one point during truth or dare, Sophia had to go outside and sing "Happy Birthday" at the top of her lungs for the whole neighborhood to hear. We all laughed so hard!
Around 10pm, we opened presents. Sarah loooooved the huge art set I gave her. Her eyes lit up brighter than the candles on her birthday cake! After presents, we had cake and ice cream. Then we put on our coziest pajamas, grabbed all our sleeping bags and pillows, and set up camp in Sarah's living room to
watch movies and munch on snacks until we couldn't keep our eyes open any longer.
The next morning, we devoured the warm, gooey cinnamon rolls and played one last game of make-believe before our parents came to pick us up. We were all laughing and smiling ear to ear. You could tell Sarah had an amazing 10th birthday that she'd never, ever forget.
Seeing my best friend so happy because of the surprise I planned made me happier than I've ever been. Sarah gave me the tightest, biggest hug and thanked me about a million times for throwing her such a fun party. Her smile was brighter than a million shooting stars. I can't wait for my 10th birthday when it's my turn for a surprise sleepover! If it's even half as fun as Sarah's was, I'll be the luckiest kid ever.。
