The opening ceremony of the Paralympic Games was held on September 6th.I think it was very exciting.After the great performances,the flame was lit up by Hou Bing. With the torch on his wheelchair,HouBing used both hands to pull himself up along a hanging rope to the edge to the Birds Nest to light the flame up.
I enjoyed the opening ceremony very much. And I wish the Paralympic Games will be held successfully.

在精彩的文艺表演结束后，残奥运动员侯斌凭借自己的力量高举火炬，坐着轮椅顺着绳子攀爬上高高的鸟巢一端点燃了残奥会的主火炬。

year as the Olympic Games. Since the Seoul Summer Games (1988) and the Albertville Winter Games (1992)，they have also taken place at the same venues as the Olympic Games. On 19 June 2001，an agreement was signed between the International Olympic Committee and the IPC aiming to secure and protect the organisation of the Paralympic Games. The agreement reaffirmed that the Paralympic Games，from 2008 on，will always take place shortly after the Olympic Games，using the same sports venues and facilities. From the 2012 bid process onwards，the host city chosen to host the Olympic Games will be obliged to host the Paralympics as well.

参加残奥会的运动员残疾类别有：视力残疾、截肢、脊髓损伤、脑瘫、其它肢体残疾和智力残疾。

Special Olympics is an international organization created to help people with intellectual disabilities develop self-confidence, social skills and a sense of personal accomplishment through sports training and competition. Among their other activities, Special Olympics conducts the Special Olympics World Games every four years.
Over two million athletes of all ages are involved in Special Olympics sports programs in more than 150 countries. The organization offers year-round training and competition in 26 Olympic-type summer and winter sports. There is no charge to participate in Special Olympics.
