Step 1: Lead in
T:Good morning/afternoon,everyone! Look at this picture:What are they doing?
S:They are talking about something about joining the club.(学生给出自己的答案)
T:So we are good at something,and what are they?Today,Let`s talk about them.

1. Listen and number the conversations [1-3].
a. Listen to the recording for the first time.
b. Number the conversations from 1 to 3 while you listen to them for the second time. 2.Check the answers

a. T: I would like you to read the conversations together.
b. T: Would you please read them in pairs?

Step 4. Work on 1c
T: Practice the conversations above with your partner. Then make your own conversations.
T: Now, could you please present your conversations for the class? Let`s turn the turntable and choose one team? (Have Ss form pairs and practice the conversations in the picture. Walk around the classroom to monitor their work. Have Ss introduce themselves using the conversations as a model. Have Ss mingle and practice the conversations. Choose some teams to role-play their conversations for the class.)

Now,Let`s focus on the language points.
(1)play v. 参加(比赛或运动);玩耍
play 用作及物动词时的常见用法:
play the+乐器意为“弹奏……”
play +球类/棋类意为“打/下……”。
play +游戏/娱乐类意为“玩/演……”。
play 用作不及物动词时,如果后跟宾语,则要加介词with。
即play with sb./sth.宾语是物时,表示“玩耍某物”;宾语是人时,表示“与某人玩”。
(2)Speak v.说(某种语言);说话
speak 用作及物动词,意为“说(某种语言)”,后接表示语言的名词作宾语;speak 用作不及物动词,意为“说话”,通常指说话的能力或方式,也有“演讲,发言”之意。
辨析speak, say, talk与tell
(3)Join v.参加;加入
join 指参加某个组织或加入某个团体并成为其中一员;join 还有“(将两物)连接,结合”之意
join sb.(for sth.)意为“加入某人/和某人( 做某事)
join sb.in (doing) sth.意为“加入到某人的某一活动中
