In my twenties, I had a good job. I was strong and happy. Then I married and had a child. In those days, I didn’t have much time to think. Every day, I was busy and worked very hard. And so, I started to get some white hairs. The summer of my life passed quickly.
Then the days got shorter. Leaves fell from the trees. My child was a university student, and then an engineer. My home was much quieter. I started walking more slowly. One day I stopped working, I had more time.
I understood this was my autumn, a beautiful time when
the trees change color and give us delicious fruits.
But the days keep getting shorter and colder. Winter has come. I am older and weaker. I know I do not have many days left but I will enjoy them to the end.

I was ten when I first sat with my grandmother behind the cashier(收银台)in her general store .
16 I quickly learned the importance of treating customers politely and saying “thank you.”
At first I was paid in candy. 17 I worked every day after school, and during the summer and on weekends and holidays from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. My father helped me
set up a bank account. 18
By the time I was 12, my grandmother thought I had done such a good job that she promoted me to selling cosmetics(化妆品). I developed the ability to look customers directly in the eye. Even though I was just a kid, women would ask me such things as “What color do you think I should wear?”I took a real interest in their questions and was able to translate what they wanted into makeup(化妆)ideas. 19
The job taught me a valuable lesson: to be a successful salesperson, you didn’t need to be a Rocket scientist—you needed to be a great listener. 20 Except they are no longer women purchasing cosmetics from me; instead, they are kids who tell me which toys they would like to see designed and developed.
A. Later I received 50 cents an hour.
B. Before long, she let me sit there by myself.
C. I ended up selling a record amount of cosmetics.
D. Today I still carry that lesson with me: I listen to customers.
E. M y grandma’s trust taught me how to handle responsibility.
F. S oon I found myself looking more beautiful than ever before.
G. Watching my money grow was more rewarding than anything I could have bought.

There is 41 old Spanish proverb which states,”Tomorrow is often the 42 (busy)day of the week.”How many_ 43 (time) have we put off our dreams until tomorrow? I’d say, too many. Our dreams should not, and
cannot wait. We have to go for them now! Here are the reasons.
Tomorrow is not promised. Nobody likes to talk about 44 (dead), but the reality is 45 is going to die at one point. None of us know the day, or the hour. Therefore, today is all we have. Don’t go to your grave with unfulfilled dreams. Make the 46 (decide) to go after every dream, big or small right now.
You’ll be much 47 (happy) if you go for it. Imagine how much you’ll be 48 you’re living the life you always dreamed about. The only thing 49 is stopping you is yourself. Take control of your own happiness. Don’t keep your dream 50 (wait). Go after them today!

Dear Peter,
I'm glad to receive your letter asking for my advice on how to learn Chinese well. Here are a few suggestions.
First, it is important to take a Chinese course, as you'll be able to learn from the teacher and practice with your fellow students. Secondly, it is a good idea if you can watch TV and read books, newspapers and magazines in Chinese whenever possible. Besides, singing Chinese songs can help you learn and remember Chinese words more easily. Finally, You can also make more Chinese friends. They will tell you a lot about China and help you do better in Chinese.
Try and write me in Chinese next time.
Best wishes.。
