Did you know that you can add lots of different flavours to cheese?We've just had a school trip to a cheese factory and we tried the most amazing chees es.
When we arrived at the factory there was a huge notice. 'All visitors must wear the special clothes provided.' We felt very silly because we had to put o n funny blue hats. It's important that everything is clean in the factory. The milk arrives from the local farms and it can be from goats or sheep. First you lea ve the milk for a day until it looks like yogurt. Then a machine warms the milk so that it's the right temperature，but the milk mustn't burn. After a while th e milk separates into a liquid which is the ‘whey’ and a solid which is the ‘curd’. you need to add salt to the curd for flavour.
To make different types of cheese you can add nuts，fruit and even beer！The best one was a hard cheese with apricots. We then saw a machine that pr esses seaweed into cheese. It looked nice but it was very strong and smelly！I didn't try it. The biggest surprise was a chocolate cheese. It sounds horrible b ut it was fantastic. They stir dark chocolate into soft cheese and then leave it.
