9A Unit3 Teenage problems (Period 4) 教案
Vocabulary
Teaching Aims:1. To understand the different meaning of the verb ‘to get’.
2. To use the verb ‘to get’ when we talk about problems.
3. To let the students say something about their own problems and how to solve it

Teaching difficulties: Different meanings of ‘get’ and how to use it
Teaching methods: listening ,writing , speaking and reading
Preview:1.content:Vocabulary (P48)
2.time:10 minutes
3.write down some meanings of ‘get’
4.recite the phrases: get/take a bus; get/become angry; get/receive low marks; get/have a lot of homework; get/arrive home late; revise for tests; have time for my hobbies; tell me about them
Teaching Procedures::
Step 1 预习作业检测
请用英语解释划线的单词
1)Where did you get that skirt? (buy)
2) Go and get your breakfast. (have/eat)
3) I got a lot from the story. (learned)
4) Let me go and get the doctor. (ask for)
5) Every day we get a lot of homework to do. (have)
6) Li Ming doesn't study hard, so he often gets low marks in test.(has/receive s)

Step 2 Warming up and Presentation
a. Ask ss to answer the questions according to reading
1.Do you have enough time to take up your hobbies?
2.Do you have lots of homework every day?
3. Are your parents very strict with you?
b. Present some pictures about Amy on page 48 and ask ss to remember the uses of ‘get’.
Step3 Practicing
Part A
1.Explain that the words in the box at the top of Page 48 are synonyms of the verb “to get”below the pictures, and can be used to replace “get” in each picture.
2.Ask students to work in pairs to complete Part A and make sentences using the phrases under the pictures
3.For weaker classes, ask students to read out the answer for each picture. For stronger classes, after students have read out the answers, ask them to make sentences using the phrases under the pictures.
Part B
1.Explain to students that they can use their answers from Part A to help the m with the exercise in Part B for weaker classes, students can work in pairs to complete Part B. For stronger classes, students can work on their own.
2.For stronger classes, once students have finished, ask two students to read out the whole letter. Compliment them on parts of the letter they read particularly well.
3.For weaker classes, ask students if they have the same problems as Amy. Ask students to raise
their hands if they do. For stronger classes, ask students what their advice would be for Amy. 4. I will ask students to guess what “get” means in the following sentences:
1) Where did you get that skirt? (buy)
2) Go and get your breakfast. (eat)
3) I got a lot from the story. (learned)
4) Let me go and get the doctor. (ask for)
5) We should get your teachers to help you. (ask)
S t ep 4 Doing Activities
1.I divide class into five groups to have a discussion according to Part B:
What problems does Amy have? Can you offer her some useful suggestions?
2.Choose one student in each group to read it out.
Step 5 Game
1.Show them some cards:
get a bus take

get home late arrive
get a lot of homework have

get a taxi take
get scared become
get exam results obtain
get a prize receive
get happy become
2.Cut each card into two parts, phrases are on the left and the meanings are on the right.
3. Put all the left cards into a bag and put the right cards on the blackboard, on the wall or on the
students’ desks.
4. Divide the students into four groups. Each group take a card from the box one by one and find its meaning in the classroom and then give it to the teacher.Which group finds the most cards which group will be the winner.
