The music of your teenage years probably will stay with you for the rest of your life.I think music is deeply connected with memory because of the emotions it awakens.Music also helps to mark time because of the way the fashions and stars of pop culture e and go.I often connect some summers with particular records (唱片) that came out while I was on holiday. But what's really the best way to record your youth? Is it your favorite song, or a picture of the singer?
In my teenage years, one of the special things about Britain was the huge amount of information about music. There were 3 weekly newspapers about music:Sounds, Melody Maker and the Ne w Musical Express.Buying records was expensive and it also meant making a choice. So it was wise to read about music instead, and in some ways, it was actually better as well.It was possible for a group to get onto the front cover of one of the music papers without even having made any records—but they needed things to say for the reporters to write about. In fact, the best pop stars of the 1980s were people whose main talent was exactly that. They weren' t great musicians
or habits and a nice way with clever phrases. They were ideal for filling music papers.
When The Face magazine first came out in May, 1980, it was meant to be a rock magazine.I have given away or sold all the records I bought as a teenager, but I think my old copies of The Face will stay with me for ever.Although it started out as a source of information about music, the writers quickly realized that it wasn't really the music that was important—it was the way people spoke and acted, and, above all, the way they looked.

History is full of cases where dreams have been a pathway to creativity and discovery.A striking example is provided by Dr.Otto Loewi,a pharmacologist and winner of a Nobel Prize.Loewi had spent years studying the chemical transmission of nerve impulses (脉搏).A tremendous breakthrough in his research came when he dreamed of an experiment three nights in a row.The first two nights he woke up and wrote down the experiment quickly and untidily on paper. But the next morning,he
couldn't tell what the notes meant. On the third night,he got up after having the dream. This time, instead of making notes he went straight to his laboratory and performed the crucial experiment.Loewi later said that if the experiment had occurred to him while awake he would have rejected it.
Loewi's experiment gives some insight into using dreams to produce creative solutions.Inhibitions (拘谨) are reduced during dreaming, which may be especially useful in solving problems that require a fresh point of view.
Being able to take advantage of dreams for problem solving is improved if you “set” yourself before retiring. Before you go to bed,try to think intently about a problem you wish to solve.Bury yourself in the problem by stating it clearly and reviewing all relevant information. Then use the suggestions listed in the previous section to catch your dreams.Although this method is not guaranteed to produce a novel solution or a new insight,it is certain to be an adventure.About half of a group of college students using the method for a week recalled a dream that helped them solve a personal problem.

The Cave of Lascaux
It was Thursday, September 12,1940.Four French teens were out exploring in the woods off the northern slopes of the Pyrenees. Many years before, an old pine tree fell and left a large hole in the ground. The teenagers were curious and they started to explore the area and fell into one of the most important archeological(考古的) finds of the twentieth century!
There are over a hundred limestone(灰岩) caves in this region of France. Some were inhabited by humans thousands and thousands of years ago.Between 15,000 and 17,000 years ago, humans painted lively creatures such as cows, bulls, horses, and even cats on the walls of the caves.
Why did they mark these walls? Was it to tell a story? Was it to record a famous battle? There are many mysteries and ancient secrets still waiting to be discovered in the cave of Lascaux. There were dots in many of the paintings. What do these dots mean? Were they meant to record time, a calendar? Deep in the cave, there is a drawing of a “birdman”.What does this mean? Was it a place for sacred ceremonies? No one knows for sure.
The actual cave of Lascaux was closed in 1963 due to the overabundance of tourists visiting the site. The carbon dioxide that people were breathing out was causing damage to the fragile(易损的) cave paintings.Up till now the Lascaux cave is still closed for tourists.Only a specialist can visit the cave by a special order that must
be made out almost a year in advance. Not more than six persons can enter the cave per day.Two days a week, the cave is pletely closed.Due to the great interest of numerous tourists, in 1983 Lascaux Ⅱwas opened for tourism. It is an exact replica of the cave of Lascaux.

Growing up the daughter of an outstanding educator,Andrea Peterson knew at a young age that she wanted to serve others. It was with this mindset that she started to pursue a degree in medicine. However, while visiting her brothers who were away at college studying music education, she realized that she was drawn to teach music, too. In her ten years at Granite Falls, she has revitalized the music programs at both the elementary and high school levels,to the extent that an additional music faculty member was hired by the district to assist with the workload. The growth of the music program in Granite Falls School District has encouraged students to participate in country, state and national music petitions, and won numerous prizes for the district.
Teaching music is only a part of Peterson's instruction-it serves as a vehicle to other areas.“Music is an amazing tool to unlock students' potential. The most visible benefit from their success in music is their increased confidence and
