As a high school student, I have participated in many writing competitions. One of the most challenging competitions I have ever entered required me to write an essay in both English and Chinese. It was definitely a unique experience for me, as I had never written a bilingual essay before.
At first, I was quite nervous about the competition. I was worried that my Chinese writing skills were not good enough to compete with other native speakers. However, I quickly realized that the competition was not just about language proficiency, but also about creativity and originality.
I decided to write about my experience growing up in a multicultural family. My mother is Chinese, and my father is American. I was born and raised in the United States,
but I also spent a lot of time in China with my grandparents. I wrote about how this unique upbringing has shaped my perspective on the world and how I have learned to appreciate and embrace different cultures.
Writing in both English and Chinese was definitely a challenge. I had to constantly switch between the two languages, and it was difficult to express certain ideas and concepts in both languages. However, I found that writing in both languages allowed me to explore different writing styles and techniques.
Overall, participating in a bilingual writing competition was a great experience for me. It allowed me to showcase my language skills and creativity, and it also challenged me to think outside of the box.
