very creative and used different expres-
sive techniques in the design, fabrics
and craft to combine
58D uring the 2018 Show Fashion Week, the graduate show by Beijing
Union University was held on May 15. This
show was centered around the theme “Beijing
Charm”. The ancient Chinese character meaning “charm”
has harmonious connotations. As a city with over one
thousand years of history, Beijing combines tradition with modernity, history and technology, and foreign concepts
and local culture. Therefore, it was the perfect vehicle to
convey the meaning of charm in the modern society.
The 70 creations by 27 designers represented their understandings and expressions of the theme “Beijing Charm”. The show became a platform for creating aspira-
tions, concepts, viewpoints and understandings of these
structural designs also enhanced
their creative visions. These cre-
ations were tailored to market needs
and designed for real life. The balance

broidery, weaving, and collage, in the making of the fabrics, and explored the best ways in which to combine these techniques with modern color matching. The purpose of this was to create a se-cret garden that transcends nature to encom-pass fiction and to then embrace D Town China Graduate Fashion Week, a graduate show was held by the School of Fashion, the Hebei Acad-emy of Fine Arts. The show had the theme “Seeking a Luminous World” and adopted the design concept of “youth being a journey of self-improvement”. According to this concept, youth is full of toil and blood, hopes and expectations, persistence and tenacity, and is a journey of self-fulfilment.
