Mountains are one of the most striking geomorphic features on Earth. They are typically formed through tectonic activity, where immense forces within the Earth's crust push, fold, and uplift rocks. For instance, the Himalayas, the tallest mountain range on Earth, were created by the collision of the Indian and Eurasian
tectonic plates. Over time, the relentless forces of erosion, including weathering and river carving, further sculpt these mountains into their distinct peaks and
valleys.
Another notable geomorphic feature is the plateau, which is a flat-topped elevated landform. Plateaus can form through various geological processes, such as volcanic activity or the uplift of large blocks of crust. The Colorado Plateau in the United States, renowned for its stunning canyons and mesas, was shaped by a combination of tectonic uplift and erosion by the Colorado River over millions of years.
Moving to coastal areas, we encounter diverse geomorphic features shaped by the interactions of land, water, and wind.
